Macadamia oil

The oil is extracted from macadamia nuts and is very rich in high-quality fatty acids, particularly omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, oleic, linolenic, linoleic and palmitoleic acids. It contains vitamins A, E and B, phosphorus, calcium, iron and zinc. It is a powerful antioxidant that prevents damage to cell membranes. Its composition is very similar to the skin's natural oils, so it does not irritate the skin and is also suitable for very sensitive skin and children's skin. This plant oil comes from the nuts of the Macadamia ternifolia tree, which grows in Australia and Oceania, where it is cold-pressed to preserve its bioactive compounds. Thanks to its high stability, it is used in organic cosmetics as a pure extract without chemical additives, supporting the skin's natural protection against environmental factors.

It absorbs easily without leaving a greasy film on the skin. Its combination of unsaturated fatty acids and zinc makes it excellent for softening the skin and highly effective for ageing skin. It can help with the healing of skin conditions and burns and has regenerative properties. This precious oil also protects against the effects of harmful substances and UV radiation. It works by moisturising and restoring the skin's lipid barrier thanks to palmitoleic acid (up to 20-25 %), which mimics the skin's sebum. As an antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals through vitamin E and polyphenols, soothes irritation and supports cell regeneration. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20 % for hydrating serums and creams.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive, mature and acne-prone skin, where it strengthens the barrier without clogging pores. Its gentle texture also makes it suitable for children's skin and skin prone to eczema. At low concentrations, it regulates sebum production in oily skin. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) showed that macadamia oil at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 28 % after 4 weeks of application and improved elasticity by 15 % in women with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) confirmed that palmitoleic acid from the oil supports collagen synthesis and protects against UVB damage, reducing inflammatory markers by 22 %.
