MyLab – personal care based on the current needs of your skin

What is MyLab personalisation?

Your skin changes with age, the season, your lifestyle, and whatever it is going through right now. That is why it may not always need the same care.

MyLab lets you tailor a selected LucyLab product to what your skin needs right now. The base is still a complete product, to which you add a suitable active ingredient – a booster / SOS serum. So you do not have to change your whole routine every time your skin changes. You only need to give a targeted boost to the product you already want to use.

How does MyLab work?

  1. Choose a product First, you choose what your skin needs and then the product you want to tailor – for example, a cleansing product, a serum, a cream, or eye area care.
  2. We recommend a suitable active ingredient for you Based on your choice and the specific product, MyLab recommends a booster / SOS serum that complements its effect according to the current needs of your skin. It also sets the recommended dosage for you.
  3. Add it to the product You choose the pack size of the active ingredient and buy it together with the product. Each time you use it, you take your usual dose of the product and add the recommended number of drops of the booster / SOS serum to it.
  4. And the result? A product tailored to the current needs of your skin.

If the needs of your skin change over time, you can simply go through MyLab again and choose a new focus.

MyLab rules

  • Do not add the booster / SOS serum to the whole pack of the product. Personalisation always happens just before use – you add the active ingredient to one dose of the product only.
  • Stick to the number of drops that MyLab recommends. More active ingredient does not mean a better result.
  • Use only the booster / SOS serum that MyLab recommends for the specific product.
  • You can also personalise several products in your routine – for example, cleansing together with a serum or cream, or the eye area on its own. But personalise each product according to the recommendation made specifically for it.
  • Do not combine different boosters / SOS serums in one dose unless MyLab explicitly recommends it for the specific product.

MyLab helps you tailor your skincare without an unnecessarily complicated routine – simply according to what your skin needs right now.

Helps reduce acne, mattifies and cleanses the skin

Targeted balancing care for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin. CutiBiome CLR™ supports the balance of the skin’s microbiome, while Zincidone®, niacinamide and azelaic acid help regulate sebum production, refine the appearance of pores and soothe blemishes. Coenzyme Q10 protects the skin from oxidative stress, while the lightweight, non-greasy texture keeps it feeling comfortable. The result is clearer, mattified and more balanced skin that looks calmer, smoother and healthier, with fewer visible breakouts.

What the cream helps with

  • Oily, shiny skin: the cream mattifies the skin and helps regulate sebum production. Niacinamide, the zinc in Zincidone® and azelaic acid all play a part.
  • Enlarged pores: helps refine them and smooth the skin’s surface. Moroccan clay cleanses the skin, while raspberry powder helps tighten pores.
  • Irritated, acne-prone skin: the cream soothes the skin and helps restore its balance. Panthenol and Zincidone® help soothe it, while the CutiBiome CLR™ complex helps balance its microbiome.

Who it’s for

This facial cleansing cream for acne is suitable for oily and combination skin. It is particularly intended for:

  • oily, blemish-prone skin with enlarged pores,
  • skin prone to acne, blackheads and whiteheads,
  • teenage and adult skin, including mature skin with wrinkles,
  • tired, less resilient skin,
  • dehydrated skin.

Key ingredients

  • CutiBiome CLR™: an active complex that supports the balance of the microbiome in blemish-prone skin and helps regulate sebum production. In a study involving 20 participants, the formula reduced sebum production by almost 41% after eight weeks. As many as 80% of participants also felt their skin was more comfortable and less oily.
  • Niacinamide (vitamin B3): supports the skin barrier and helps regulate sebum production. In a study involving 50 participants who used a cream containing 2% niacinamide, sebum production was measurably reduced after both two and four weeks.
  • Zincidone®: combines the cleansing and mattifying properties of zinc with L-PCA, a substance naturally found in the skin. It helps regulate sebum production, reduce shine and support the comfort of blemish-prone skin. In a study involving 36 participants, the cream significantly reduced the amount of sebum in the skin after 28 days.
  • Azelaic acid: a water-soluble form that helps regulate excess sebum production while hydrating the skin. It is also gentle on skin that does not tolerate strong acids well. In a study of five participants with oily, acne-prone skin, it reduced sebum levels by 31.5% after three weeks.
  • Coenzyme Q10: an antioxidant naturally found in the skin that helps protect it from oxidative stress. In a controlled, randomised study involving 73 women, the ingredient increased coenzyme Q10 levels on the skin’s surface and in its layers after two weeks, and significantly reduced free radical levels in skin under oxidative stress.

Panthenol further soothes the skin, while Moroccan clay cleanses it. Ectoin and N-acetyl glucosamine help it retain moisture. BIO olive squalane, BIO honey, BIO shea butter, and strawberry and raspberry powder, rich in vitamins and minerals, nourish the skin.

Organic rose water Rosa Damascena Flower Water BIO

With its beautiful, intoxicating scent, this rose water of the highest quality is a completely natural product with wonderful beauty benefits. It is an extract of damask rose petals, obtained by distilling fresh flowers, and contains water-soluble volatile and aromatic compounds from roses. This hydrolate is rich in antioxidants, bioflavonoids and carotenes that penetrate the skin and support its health. Thanks to its strong antibacterial properties, it is made without preservatives, and is hypoallergenic and gentle on the skin. As well as being used in cosmetics, it is used in cooking to flavour desserts and drinks, and supports digestion when consumed in small amounts.

Rose water is an excellent toner that hydrates the skin, balances its pH, cleanses pores and stimulates regeneration. It has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, disinfects, prevents inflammation and tightens pores. It soothes irritated skin, reduces redness and puffiness, and promotes healing in skin affected by acne, eczema or rosacea. As an antioxidant, it protects against free radicals, slows ageing, improves elasticity and helps prevent wrinkles. It is used at a concentration of 100 % as a toner or spray, with no need to dilute it, ideally morning and evening.

We recommend it for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It is ideal for children, people with allergies, and after shaving, hair removal or sunburn. In summer, it refreshes the skin as a spray, sets make-up and removes blackheads. Suitable for anyone looking for natural, alcohol-free skincare.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2011) showed that Rosa damascena hydrolate at a concentration of 100 % significantly reduced inflammatory markers in patients with acne by 68 % after 60 days of daily application, thanks to its phenolic compounds and essential oils (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2011). Further research in Phytotherapy Research (2015) reports that the antioxidants in rose water improved skin hydration by 25 % and reduced transepidermal water loss in dry skin (Phytotherapy Research, 2015).

Vitamin B3 Niacin

Niacin, or vitamin B3, belongs to the B vitamin complex. Vitamin B3 is a collective term for nicotinic acid and niacin. It occurs naturally in foods such as meat, fish, nuts and wholegrain products, but cosmetics use a synthetic form or organic extracts from yeast and plants. This water-soluble vitamin is essential for cellular metabolism and the synthesis of the coenzyme NAD, which supports energy processes in skin cells. In cosmetic products, it is added in the stable form of niacinamide, which is readily absorbed into the skin without causing irritation.

It protects the skin and improves its health. It plays a role in cellular metabolism, helping enzymatic processes function properly. Its mechanism of action includes moisturising the skin by increasing the synthesis of ceramides and free fatty acids, thereby restoring the skin barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties that neutralise free radicals and protect against oxidative stress. It soothes inflammation by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and promotes exfoliation by regulating keratinisation. Recommended concentrations are 2-5 % for hydration and barrier repair, and up to 10 % for pigmentation and acne.

Niacin helps the skin retain water, improves the condition of sensitive skin (including skin with rosacea) and strengthens its defences. It is also excellent for supporting acne treatment, both topically and orally. It is useful even for severe forms of acne. It improves the appearance of ageing skin and brightens the complexion, making it suitable for reducing pigmentation and age spots. It plumps and hydrates the skin and prevents water loss. Its benefits extend well beyond our skin and hair. I recommend it for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It is ideal for rosacea, eczema, hyperpigmentation and anti-ageing care, as it strengthens the barrier without clogging pores.

This vitamin is important for the proper functioning of the whole body, and a deficiency can cause fatigue, digestive problems, mental illness and depression, for example. A clinical study showed that niacinamide at a concentration of 4 % reduced hyperpigmentation by 35-68 % after 4-8 weeks in patients with melasma (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2004). Further research confirmed that 4 % niacinamide reduced acne lesions by 52 %, while 2 % niacinamide reduced hyperpigmentation by 44 % after 8 weeks (International Journal of Dermatology, 2002). High-dose oral supplementation (1 g daily) reduced acne symptoms by 50 % after 8 weeks (Botanic.sk study).

CutiBiome CLR™ Octyldodecanol, Leptospermum Scoparium Branch/Leaf Oil, Piper Nigrum Seed Extract, Magnolia Officinalis Bark Extract

A unique blend of natural substances with powerful cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties that actively fights acne-causing bacteria. Active ingredients derived from black cumin, magnolia, manuka and chaulmoogra have antimicrobial properties and minimise inflammation in the skin. These ingredients are obtained from plants such as manuka (Leptospermum scoparium) from New Zealand, magnolia bark (Magnolia officinalis) from Asia, black pepper seed extract (Piper nigrum) and oil from manuka branches, all combined with the carrier octyldodecanol. These are organic extracts of natural origin, specially developed for cosmetics without synthetic additives, ensuring a gentle and effective approach to skincare.

It works as a cleansing complex with an antimicrobial mechanism that suppresses the growth of Cutibacterium acnes (formerly P. acnes), minimising inflammatory processes by reducing both primary inflammation and inflammation caused by these bacteria. It has anti-inflammatory properties, regulates sebum production, reduces comedones, pustules and spots, and acts as a powerful antioxidant that protects against oxidative stress. In vitro and in vivo tests demonstrate the blend's synergistic effect in reducing the growth of two different strains of C. acnes. The recommended concentration in formulations is typically 1-5 %, providing optimal efficacy without irritation.

It is particularly recommended for oily, combination and acne-prone skin, where it regulates excess sebum production and reduces inflammation. It is also suitable for sensitive skin prone to spots, dehydrated skin with an impaired barrier, and mature skin, where antioxidants slow down ageing. It is not ideal for extremely dry skin without excess sebum concerns, as its cleansing effects may need to be balanced with additional hydrating ingredients. Regular use strengthens the skin, leaving it clearer, less prone to breakouts and more elastic.

In vitro studies have shown that CutiBiome CLR™ at a concentration of 2 % inhibits the growth of virulent phylotypes of Cutibacterium acnes by more than 90 % and significantly reduces acne-related inflammation (according to tests by the manufacturer CLR). In vivo tests on volunteers showed a 40-60 % reduction in the number of comedones and pustules after 4 weeks of application in creams (results from clinical trials listed in the product specifications). Another study confirmed a 30 % reduction in sebum in individuals with oily skin (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018, on similar antimicrobial complexes with manuka).

Olive squalane Squalane (Olive) BIO

Olive squalene is a luxurious ingredient and, as its name suggests, it is pure plant-derived squalene obtained from olives. It is also known as a “natural facelift” because it is similar to the lipids in human skin, allowing it to penetrate deep into skin tissue, support cell regeneration and oxygenation, hydrate, promote healing and, not least, smooth wrinkles. This ingredient comes from olives and is obtained by hydrogenating the squalene present in olive oil through environmentally friendly processes, without using animal sources or synthetic chemicals. It is a stable, plant-based alternative to animal-derived squalene that is fully compatible with organic cosmetics and supports sustainable production. Thanks to its structure, which is identical to human lipids, it absorbs exceptionally well without clogging pores, making it an ideal base for nourishing products.

It works primarily by intensely moisturising the skin and restoring its barrier, replenishing the skin’s natural lipids and preventing transepidermal water loss. As a powerful antioxidant, it protects cells from free radicals and supports tissue regeneration and oxygenation, helping to smooth wrinkles and improve elasticity. It also soothes irritation and speeds up healing, without exfoliating effects. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 5-20 %, with 10 % significantly increasing hydration without leaving a greasy film.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it effectively combats loss of elasticity and wrinkles. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, as it is non-comedogenic and regulates the sebaceous glands without clogging pores. Thanks to its hypoallergenic properties, it is ideal for all age groups, including children and pregnant women. It has a soothing effect on sensitive skin with eczema or irritation, while helping to prevent signs of ageing in mature skin.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that olive squalene at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 45 % and improved skin barrier recovery by 30 % after 4 weeks of application in women with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2020) reports that applying 5 % olive-derived squalene reduced lipid peroxidation in the skin by 25 % and improved elasticity by 20 % over 8 weeks, confirming its antioxidant and regenerative effects.

ECOHANCE Soft BOL - silicone Butyl Oleate

Butyl oleate is a gentle, oily substance used in cosmetics as a softening emollient. It occurs naturally in various animal and vegetable fats, but in commercial cosmetics it is usually produced synthetically by esterifying oleic acid with butanol. It is colourless, has no strong odour and spreads easily on the skin, helping to keep it soft and smooth.

Butyl oleate works by significantly moisturising and restoring the skin barrier, forming a thin lipid film on the skin's surface that prevents water loss. It is not an active ingredient with exfoliating or antioxidant effects, but rather a supporting ingredient that improves skin comfort and softens its texture. In cosmetic formulations, it is often combined with other oils or emulsifiers to achieve the ideal feel on the skin.

Butyl oleate is particularly suitable for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin that needs extra nourishment and help locking in moisture. It is also recommended for people with mature skin, where it helps smooth fine lines and reduce feelings of tightness. It may be too oily for oily or acne-prone skin, so it is used with caution or at lower concentrations in these cases.

A study reports that oil ester-based emollients, such as butyl oleate, significantly reduce skin sensitivity after mask removal and improve its elasticity. An experimental test with oleic acid-based emollients confirmed that the skin stays hydrated for longer and is less prone to irritation (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2019). Although this study does not directly examine butyl oleate, its chemical structure as an ester of oleic acid supports similar effects on the skin barrier.

Montanov L C14-22 Alcohols, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside

This non-ionic emulsifying blend is made from plant-derived fatty alcohols and sugar glucosides. It combines the water and oil phases into a light emulsion and forms ordered lamellar structures similar to the skin's lipid layers. It is a functional ingredient used in creams, fluids, cleansing milks and sunscreens.

Montanov L stabilises the emulsion, improves spreadability and forms a soft, non-greasy film. The lamellar structure may help release water and lipids more evenly onto the skin's surface, helping the skin feel hydrated. The emulsifier itself does not treat dryness or inflammation, but a well-structured cream has a significant influence on comfort, barrier repair and how evenly active ingredients are distributed over the skin.

It is suitable for products for normal, dry, sensitive and combination skin. Its lightweight feel also makes it suitable for daytime fluids and creams for warm or humid climates. For oily skin, the result depends on the amount of the oil phase. For very sensitive skin, its non-ionic nature and the option to formulate without harsh surfactants are advantages.

The manufacturer assessed the moisturising properties of emulsions containing Montanov emulsifiers on different skin phototypes and in different climatic conditions. Tests showed increased hydration and confirmed that Montanov L enables lightweight formulations suitable even for hot and humid environments (Seppic Clinical Evaluation). These data relate to the emulsion system, not to an independent therapeutic effect.

The usual concentration is approximately 1 to 5 per cent, depending on the amount of the oil phase and the desired viscosity. It requires heating and proper homogenisation. Stability is affected by the ratio of the phases, electrolytes, polymers and the cooling profile, so stress testing and long-term testing are necessary.

For the user, its benefits are most apparent in how the product spreads, absorbs and stays on the skin. A good texture is not merely an aesthetic quality, as it supports even application of active ingredients and regular use. When assessing a finished product, it is important to check stability, pilling, stickiness and how it behaves after applying SPF or make-up. Suitable packaging and a dispensing system are also important.

Azeclair PAD Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate

This is a water-soluble derivative of a dicarboxylic acid, in which the active component is linked to the amino acid glycine and neutralised with potassium. It is produced through controlled synthesis to improve the solubility and tolerability of the original acid. The ingredient is suitable for lightweight water-based serums and emulsions, where the poorly soluble original molecule is more difficult to use.

Azeclair PAD helps regulate excess sebum production, supports a more even skin tone and also provides hydration. Its mechanism involves inhibiting the enzyme 5 alpha reductase, regulating pigment production processes and the presence of the glycine component. Compared with conventional azelaic acid, it tends to feel more comfortable on the skin and causes less stinging, although it is not exactly the same substance or a substitute for dermatological treatment.

We recommend it for oily, combination, acne-prone skin and skin with pigmentation, as well as sensitive skin that does not tolerate strong acids well. It is suitable for shine, enlarged pores, post-acne marks and uneven skin tone. In cases of active rosacea or an impaired skin barrier, a new product should be introduced gradually and without other irritating ingredients.

When a 3 per cent aqueous solution was applied twice daily for three weeks, skin lipid levels fell by 29,4 per cent on the forehead, 27,0 per cent on the nose and 31,5 per cent on the chin. Hydration increased by 12,7 per cent on the forehead and 8,2 per cent on the cheek (Cosmetics and Toiletries, 2002). The study was small, involving five volunteers.

In finished products, it is often used at approximately 3 to 10 per cent of the supplier's solution, depending on the active ingredient content. It is suitable for a pH of approximately 5 to 7. Even with good tolerability, the complete formulation must be tested for compatibility, stability and efficacy.

When using targeted skincare with active ingredients, it is best to start gradually and avoid changing several products at once during the first few weeks. This makes it easier to distinguish benefits from irritation. Visible changes in texture or tone usually require several weeks of regular use. Daily SPF protection, gentle cleansing and a well-functioning skin barrier have a significant influence on achieving good, lasting results.

Coco Caprylate/caprate Coco Caprylate/caprate

Description: This ingredient is a lightweight, plant-derived ester obtained from coconut oil and fatty acids. In cosmetics, it is used as a gentle, easily spreadable alternative to heavier silicones and rich oils. It absorbs very well, leaves no greasy film and gives the skin a silky, dry and pleasantly soft feel. It is particularly popular in high-quality, naturally focused cosmetics because it improves the sensory feel of the product, softens the skin's surface and feels comfortable even with daily use. It is also biodegradable and suitable for modern formulations designed to be light, elegant and non-sticky.

Function: It acts primarily as an emollient and softening ingredient, helping to reduce transepidermal water loss and support a smoother, more supple appearance. It forms a light protective film on the surface, indirectly helping dry and dehydrated skin feel more comfortable. It greatly improves the spreadability of creams, body lotions, oils and balms, while also helping to dissolve lipophilic active ingredients, such as plant extracts or essential oils. It is typically used in formulations at concentrations of approximately 1 to 20 %, depending on the desired skin feel and product type.

Recommendations: It is suitable for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin that needs softening without a heavy, greasy feel. It is also a good choice for oily or acne-prone skin when a lightweight alternative to rich oils or silicones is needed. People who prefer fast absorption, a dry finish and a pleasant, non-sticky feel may also appreciate it. It is suitable for day creams, cleansing oils, body care products, lip balms, hair serums and after-sun products.

Citations, specific figures and statistics: In a Cosmetic Ingredient Review safety assessment, this ester was tested in a human repeat insult patch test on 50 volunteers at a concentration of 100 %; no sensitisation or clinically significant skin irritation was observed. These results support its use in products for sensitive skin and explain why it is often used as a very well-tolerated alternative to heavier emollients.

N-Acetyl Glucosamine N-acetyl Glucosamine

This amino sugar molecule occurs naturally in the body and is a building block of several polysaccharides. Cosmetic-grade material is produced by fermentation or controlled synthesis. It dissolves readily in water and is stable in mildly acidic to neutral conditions. In formulations, it is used as a hydrating and brightening ingredient with very good skin tolerance.

N-Acetyl Glucosamine helps reduce excess pigment production by influencing the glycosylation of tyrosinase, an enzyme needed for melanin production. It also supports the skin’s natural production of hyaluronic acid, contributing to a smoother, more hydrated surface. Its effect is gradual and gentle, without typical peeling. It works particularly well with niacinamide, as the two ingredients target pigmentation through different mechanisms.

We recommend it for skin with pigmentation, as well as dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin. It is suitable for sun spots, uneven skin tone and post-acne marks, particularly for people who do not tolerate strong exfoliating acids well. It can also be used on oily skin, as it leaves no oily film and generally does not clog pores.

In an eight-week double-blind study, a 2 per cent concentration of N-acetylglucosamine reduced the appearance of facial hyperpigmentation compared with the vehicle alone. A combination of 2 per cent NAG and 4 per cent niacinamide delivered an even greater improvement in pigmentation spots (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2007). The results support long-term, regular use alongside daily SPF.

It is most commonly used at a concentration of approximately 1 to 4 per cent. The formulation’s pH should be kept in the mildly acidic to neutral range, and compatibility with reducing sugars and high temperatures should be monitored. When addressing pigmentation, broad-spectrum sun protection must be part of the routine.

In a daily routine, it is worth assessing longer-term skin comfort and suppleness in particular, as well as whether the skin feels less tight throughout the day. In a dry climate, a humectant also needs an emollient or occlusive ingredient to lock in the retained water. The result therefore depends on the whole formulation, consistent use and gentle cleansing, rather than a high concentration of a single ingredient. Regular application in an appropriate amount is also important.

Glycerin Glycerin

Produced from coconut oil, it is a natural water-binding substance that also occurs in the body. Its main properties are hydrating and restorative, and it creates a protective barrier against dryness. It leaves a soft, silky, supple layer on the skin and prevents moisture loss, helping to build the skin's protective barrier. Its concentration in the finished product is important. In addition to coconut oil, it can also be obtained from vegetable oils such as palm or soya oil through hydrolysis, or as a by-product of biodiesel production. It belongs to a group of humectants that can bind up to 1000 times their weight in water from their surroundings, ensuring long-lasting hydration. It occurs naturally in the skin as part of the natural moisturising factors (NMF) that make up the outermost layer of the epidermis. It can also be produced synthetically for greater purity in cosmetics, although the natural form is preferred in organic products. It supports skin elasticity by improving the penetration of other active ingredients into deeper layers.

As a humectant, it intensely moisturises the skin by attracting and binding water molecules from the environment and the lower layers of the skin. It restores the skin barrier by forming a protective film that minimises transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and protects against environmental factors such as dry air and pollution. It has a mild soothing effect on irritated skin and supports its regeneration. At concentrations of 5-20 % in serums or creams, it significantly increases hydration; with 10 % glycerine, moisture loss was reduced by 25 % after 24 hours (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). At lower concentrations (below 5 %), it acts as a solubiliser for essential oils.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it prevents wrinkles caused by dehydration. At low concentrations, it is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, as it does not leave a greasy film and regulates hydration without clogging pores. It is ideal for atopic dermatitis or eczema, where it supports barrier repair. During the winter months or in dry environments, it is invaluable for all skin types, especially for children and older people with thin skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that a 20 % glycerine solution increased skin hydration by 40 % after 7 days of application in women with dry skin. Further research in the British Journal of Dermatology (2008) reports that glycerine at a concentration of 6 %, combined with lipids, restored the skin barrier 30 % faster than a placebo in patients with eczema.

Pentylen Glycol ECO Green+ Pentylen Glycol

This water-binding ingredient acts as a moisturiser and skin softener in cosmetics. It helps active ingredients penetrate the skin. Another key benefit of pentylene glycol is that, unlike conventional alcohol, it does not have a drying effect, even at higher concentrations. Pentylene glycol is an excellent aid for macerating herbs. It does not dry the skin like conventional alcohol and, thanks to its properties, extracts both water-soluble and fat-soluble substances from herbs. Pentylene Glycol also helps prevent the growth of microorganisms on the skin. It is water-soluble, acts as a solubiliser and is colourless and odourless. Pentylene glycol is made from sugar cane bagasse and corn cobs and is certified by Ecocert Cosmos and NATRUE. The raw materials used in its production are not derived from GMO sources. This ingredient comes from renewable plant sources: bagasse is a by-product of cane sugar production, while maize provides fermentable starches, ensuring sustainable production without relying on petrochemical derivatives.

Its action is primarily based on its ability to retain moisture: it binds water in the skin and prevents moisture loss, restoring the lipid barrier. It also has antimicrobial properties that inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi, allowing it to act as a gentle preservative. It helps active ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin without disrupting its structure. At concentrations of 1 to 5 per cent, it is recommended as a safe humectant and solubiliser; at 3 per cent, it significantly reduces microbial contamination without causing irritation.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, providing effective hydration without feeling heavy. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its non-comedogenic and antimicrobial properties, which help prevent inflammation without clogging pores. It is ideal for sensitive skin, including children's skin, as it contains no harsh preservatives and minimises the risk of irritation.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) showed that pentylene glycol at a concentration of 4 per cent inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by 99,9 per cent and Candida albicans by 99,8 per cent after 48 hours of exposure, confirming its strong antimicrobial effects while remaining safe for the skin. Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2008) reports that, at a concentration of 2 per cent, it reduces microbial contamination in cosmetic emulsions by 4 log units within 7 days.

Honey Mel BIO

Nutritionally, honey is a source of simple carbohydrates, which provide the body with energy very quickly, as well as protein. It also boasts a wide range of vitamins (A, B, C, D, E and K), minerals, trace elements, amino acids, essential oils and precious royal jelly. These include potassium, sodium, carbohydrates, calcium, L-ascorbic acid, iron, magnesium and cobalamin. Nourishment therefore tops the list of benefits honey offers the skin. It nourishes and strengthens the skin, while its consistency also helps to soften it. Alongside its other nutritional benefits, honey contains inhibins, substances that prevent bacterial growth. These make honey one of the best natural antiseptics and give it antibacterial properties. Honey comes from flower nectar, which bees process using enzymes into a sweet substance rich in natural sugars, enzymes and bioactive compounds. In cosmetics, it is used as a natural extract directly from beehives or in an organic form without additives, preserving the full potency of its components.

Honey contains antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins, which also contribute to its soothing effect. Consuming honey regularly boosts immunity. Honey protects our skin and helps counteract free radicals, making it a good ally against wrinkles and premature ageing. It also hydrates the skin, another of its beneficial effects. Skin needs enough water to stay supple, fresh and youthful. Honey moisturises the skin by acting as a humectant, binding water in the deeper layers of the skin and restoring the lipid barrier thanks to its fatty acids. As an antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals, slowing down ageing. Its enzymes provide gentle exfoliation, it soothes irritation, and its inhibins have an antibacterial effect. Recommended concentrations in cosmetics are 5-20 % for hydrating masks or creams.

Among its other properties, honey can bind moisture in skin cells and lock it into the skin. This makes it beneficial not only for dry skin, but also for tired and stressed skin. Honey has powerful antibacterial, antiseptic, antimicrobial and fungicidal properties, which are particularly beneficial for problem skin and acne. Its antioxidant content brightens the complexion and lightens any hyperpigmentation. Skin regenerates more quickly after use, and honey has pronounced healing properties. Ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, acne-prone, oily and mature skin. I particularly recommend it to people with eczema, psoriasis or sunburn, where it supports healing without irritation. A study published in the Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology (2011) showed that honey at a concentration of 40 % inhibits the growth of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria by 95 % after 24 hours, significantly reducing acne-related inflammation.

Panthenol – provitamin B5 Panthenol

Panthenol is a water-soluble vitamin involved in the metabolism of all nutrients in the body. Its name comes from Greek and means “found everywhere”. Indeed, it is found in almost every food and is essential for healthy skin. It is a hygroscopic ingredient that effectively binds water and helps optimise skin function. It helps keep the skin hydrated and smooth, stimulates the formation of new cells, speeds up healing processes and soothes the skin. It is produced synthetically from pantothenic acid, which occurs naturally in both plant and animal sources. Organic cosmetics favour a safe form obtained through gentle synthesis from natural sources. In the body, it is converted into active pantothenic acid, which supports regeneration and is essential for healthy skin, hair and nails.

Provitamin B5 improves the regeneration of mature skin by speeding up cell metabolism and stimulating cell renewal. It helps retain moisture in the skin and has anti-inflammatory, hydrating and soothing effects. It protects the skin against sunburn. D-panthenol improves skin metabolism and nourishment, helps maintain its youthful appearance and reduces wrinkle formation. It works by hydrating the skin as a humectant, binding water in the upper layers of the skin and preventing transepidermal water loss; restoring the skin barrier by stimulating the synthesis of sphingolipids and fatty acids; providing antioxidant protection against free radicals; soothing inflammation by modulating inflammatory pathways; and accelerating healing by promoting the proliferation of fibroblasts and keratinocytes. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 0,5 % to 10 %.

Ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, mature, acne-prone and irritated skin, including children's skin and skin after sun exposure. It is recommended for eczema, burns and insect bites, as well as after tattooing or shaving, where it relieves itching and redness and supports healing without the risk of irritation.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2011) showed that a gel containing 5 % D-panthenol applied twice daily to dry, itchy skin significantly improved hydration by 20 % and reduced itching by 30 % after just 7 days compared with a placebo (Ebner et al., 2011). Another study in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2002) reported that 2 % panthenol in a cream strengthened the skin barrier, increased ceramide levels and reduced transepidermal water loss by 25 % after 4 weeks in individuals with atopic eczema (Proksch et al., 2002).

Organic preservative compound Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Benzyl alcohol

First of all, we would like to explain that cosmetic products do need preservatives to prevent microbial growth, product spoilage and potential skin infections that may have long-term adverse effects on your skin. Protecting the product from spoilage, and therefore protecting you, is extremely important. It is equally important to us that the preservative system is mild and gentle and has absolutely no negative impact on your health. Our packaging also plays a significant role in gentle preservation, allowing us to use the lowest concentration of the preservative blend. This blend consists of organic acids and benzyl alcohol obtained through natural processes without synthetic chemicals, in accordance with strict organic farming and certification standards. The components originate from plant sources or microbial processes: dehydroacetic acid is produced through glucose fermentation, benzoic and sorbic acids are isolated from berries or strawberries, and benzyl alcohol from plant essential oils such as ylang-ylang or jasmine. These organic extracts are certified as natural and organic, free from GMOs and pesticides.

The organic preservative blend works by acidifying its environment, lowering the pH to 4-5,5, a level that inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The synergistic effect of the blend ensures broad-spectrum protection: dehydroacetic acid inhibits fungal enzymes, benzoic and sorbic acids penetrate the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupt their metabolism, while benzyl alcohol disrupts cell walls. The typical concentration is 0,2-1 %, depending on the formulation, which minimises the potential for irritation when used with airless packaging. This system contains no parabens, formaldehyde releasers or isothiazolinones, protecting the integrity of natural ingredients without compromising stability.

We recommend this blend for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated or mature – particularly in organic cosmetics for families with children and people with allergies. It is ideal for those looking for a gentle alternative to synthetic preservatives, without the risk of sensitisation at low concentrations. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirms that a blend of dehydroacetic acid (0,5 %), benzoic acid (0,3 %) and benzyl alcohol (0,2 %) achieved a 99,9 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in emulsions at pH 5,5 without affecting the product's rheology (Darr et al., 2014). Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2009) showed that sorbic acid used in combination (0,1 %) produced a 4 log reduction in Aspergillus niger within 7 days.

Dulcia natural uses a natural, environmentally friendly system to protect cosmetic products that complies with Ecocert and COSMOS standards. It has been developed to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination. It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection using optimised, innovative synergistic blends, with environmental responsibility and sustainable development in mind. It is an organically certified formulation designed to protect products and people. All components are included on the lists of preservatives approved for natural and organic cosmetics by the world's most prestigious certification bodies.

strawberries Fragaria Vesca & Maltodextrin BIO

Strawberries are a delicious, nutritious fruit that supports health both inside and out. Strawberries contain vitamins, minerals, complex carbohydrates, carotene, antioxidants and folic acid, contributing to good overall health and, in terms of appearance, a beautiful, youthful look. Strawberries are rich in alpha-hydroxy acid, which visibly reduces wrinkles and pigmentation marks, such as those left by acne, and effectively remove dead skin cells to help renew the skin. These fruits come from the plant Fragaria vesca, a source of natural extracts used in cosmetics, often organically produced or supplied as freeze-dried powders stabilised with maltodextrin for better solubility and preservation of active ingredients. They contain vitamins A, C and E, potassium, boron, zinc and salicylic acid, which has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Thanks to their high water and soluble substance content, they bind impurities and heavy metals, acting as a natural detoxifying ingredient for the skin.

Their mechanism of action includes the exfoliating effects of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), which remove dead skin cells, improve hydration and stimulate collagen production, helping to restore the skin barrier. The salicylic acid in strawberries penetrates pores, dissolves sebum and fights bacteria, soothing inflammation. Antioxidants such as vitamin C neutralise free radicals, protect against ageing and support regeneration. Zinc contributes to healing and acne reduction. Typical concentrations in cosmetics are 1-5 % for gentle exfoliants or masks, while AHAs at concentrations of 20-70 % combined with BHAs have keratolytic and anti-seborrhoeic effects.

I recommend strawberries for oily, acne-prone and problem skin prone to spots and clogged pores, where their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help reduce inflammation. They are also suitable for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin thanks to their hydrating and soothing effects. For mature skin, they help reduce wrinkles and pigmentation marks and add radiance. At low concentrations, they are suitable for all skin types, particularly in summer masks or exfoliants.

A study in Pediatrie pro praxi (2014) states that fruit acids, including AHAs at concentrations of 20–70 %, have keratolytic, antibacterial and sebum-regulating effects, stimulate new collagen formation in the epidermis and reduce inflammation in the dermis. Other sources confirm that salicylic acid in strawberries used in exfoliating formulations clears spots and softens the skin. These effects were observed with home applications using 5 mashed strawberries mixed with sugar as an exfoliant.

Raspberries Rubus Idaeus & Maltodextrin

Raspberries have an astringent effect on the skin, making them particularly helpful for oily skin and enlarged pores. Their intensely hydrating properties also make them excellent for dry and mature skin and for tackling wrinkles. Raspberries are a rich source of vitamin C, which helps the absorption of iron, essential for beautiful skin, as well as vitamin A, the natural pigment anthocyanin, minerals such as phosphorus, iron and zinc, folic acid and fibre. They contain biotin, the beauty vitamin from the B vitamin complex, which contains sulphur, important for healthy-looking skin, nails and hair. They can protect the skin from sunlight. Raspberries deeply cleanse the skin and tighten pores while nourishing and replenishing it. They also have a preventative effect, as pores gradually tighten, helping to prevent blackheads, inflammation of sebum within the pores and subsequent acne. They help with inflammatory skin conditions. Originally native to Europe, raspberries were gathered as early as the Stone Age, and their healing properties were known to ancient physicians, who used their juice for digestive problems. Today, natural organic extracts are obtained from raspberry stem cells or seeds, often bound to maltodextrin for stability in cosmetics.

Their mechanism of action includes intensive hydration: raspberry stem cell extract increases the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin and supports collagen production, helping to restore the skin barrier and ceramide production. As a powerful antioxidant rich in anthocyanosides, polyphenols, flavonoids and vitamin C, it protects against free radicals and UV radiation. The AHA acids in raspberries gently exfoliate, cleanse and brighten the skin, while essential fatty acids and vitamin E from the seeds soothe irritation. The astringent effect tightens pores and helps prevent inflammation.

I recommend raspberries for oily skin with enlarged pores and a tendency to acne, dry and dehydrated skin, sensitive skin with eczema or irritation, and mature skin with wrinkles. Suitable for all skin types thanks to their balanced hydrating and sebum-regulating effects. Ideal for those seeking natural protection against ageing and sun damage.

A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (2004) demonstrated that raspberry seed extract at a concentration of 1 % inhibits 68 % of hyaluronidase activity, supporting skin hydration and elasticity. Further research in Phytotherapy Research (2011) showed that raspberry polyphenols at a dose of 50 µg/ml reduce inflammatory markers by 45 % in human keratin cells, confirming a soothing effect on acne and eczema.

Moroccan clay Moroccan Lava Clay

Moroccan clay is regarded as a natural beauty aid and is particularly effective in caring for congested and problem skin. This natural clay is composed of silicon and magnesium ions, as well as iron and calcium oxides. Its powerful cleansing properties have been known for centuries, combining intensive action with gentleness. The clay reliably helps prevent acne and is suitable for people with allergies to synthetic and harsh surfactants. Moroccan clay has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It is mined in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and used in traditional Moroccan hammams to detoxify the body, face and hair. Rich in minerals such as silicon, potassium and calcium, it supports skin regeneration without disrupting its natural barrier. It can absorb toxins and impurities while leaving the skin hydrated and fresh.

Moroccan clay acts as a powerful adsorbent, absorbing excess sebum, toxins and impurities from the pores, thereby mechanically exfoliating dead skin cells and regulating sebum production. It has pronounced anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic properties that soothe irritation and support healing. It stimulates circulation in the skin, detoxifies it and improves its elasticity. It also contains antioxidants that protect against free radicals and help restore the skin barrier. The recommended amount for a mask is 1-2 teaspoons of clay mixed with water or floral water per application, applied 1-2 times a week.

Ideal for oily, combination, problem and acne-prone skin, but also suitable for sensitive, dry, dehydrated or mature skin thanks to its gentle cleansing action that does not dry out the skin. Recommended for people with enlarged pores, blackheads, eczema or psoriasis, as well as for cellulite and the care of hair prone to oiliness and dandruff. Regular use minimises breakouts and evens out skin tone.

Clinical studies confirm the effectiveness of clays: for example, rhassoul clay absorbed 98 % of E. coli and 97 % of C. albicans in laboratory tests, demonstrating strong antibacterial and antifungal properties (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2015). Another study showed that Moroccan clay in masks reduced sebum production by 68 % after 4 weeks of use in people with oily skin (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2018).

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate Glyceryl Stearate Citrate

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is a gentle, plant-derived emulsifier that keeps water and oils blended in cosmetic products while softening the skin.

Origin
This ingredient is a natural, non-ionic emulsifier and co-emulsifier of plant origin, produced by reacting glycerine, stearic acid (usually from plant oils such as soya, rapeseed or corn oil) and citric acid. Thanks to its plant origin, it is also suitable for vegans and is readily biodegradable.

How it works
The main function of Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is to stabilise oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, creating light, smooth and non-greasy product textures. As an emollient, it softens and moisturises the skin, forming a protective film that restores the skin barrier and prevents water evaporation. In standard cream formulations, it is usually used at a concentration of 2 to 6 %, while 3 to 5 % is recommended for light lotions and 4 to 10 % for thicker creams.

Skin type
This ingredient is suitable for all skin types, including dry, sensitive, dehydrated, combination and oily skin. Its gentleness and low risk of irritation make it a popular ingredient for sensitive skin prone to irritation.

Research and safety
The safety of this substance is supported by extensive research. In its official 2017 report, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) research panel confirmed that Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is safe for use in cosmetic products at concentrations up to 5 %, with no evidence of irritation, sensitisation or toxicity when used correctly. In single and repeated skin tests, the ingredient was shown to be non-sensitising and non-irritating, ensuring its suitability for long-term use on human skin.

Organic shea butter Butyrospermum Parkii Butter BIO

Shea butter is a plant-based fat with a fairly thick, semi-firm consistency. It is obtained from the nuts of the shea tree, also known as karité. This tree grows in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the western part of the continent, where the nuts are gathered by hand by women in traditional communities. Cultivation and processing play a very important role in its quality, ensuring that all its valuable properties are preserved. The organic version comes from certified organic plantations without pesticides and is processed by cold pressing or traditional grinding, preserving its natural scent and colour. It contains a high proportion of vitamins A, E and F. It also contains valuable natural healing waxes, rare plant sterols, karitenes and unsaturated fatty acids, such as stearic, oleic and linoleic acid. Its composition closely resembles the skin's protective film, making it particularly effective and suitable even for sensitive skin and children's skin. In its organic form, it contains no chemical additives and is not refined, which increases its bioavailability.

It works by intensely moisturising the skin and restoring the skin barrier, thanks to its high content of fatty acids that mimic the skin's lipids. As a powerful antioxidant, it protects against free radicals through vitamins A and E. It has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, supports wound healing and stimulates collagen production, restoring elasticity. At a concentration of 5-20 % in creams, it significantly improves hydration and reduces dryness. Shea butter conditions, moisturises and rejuvenates the skin. It nourishes the skin, supports collagen production and restores skin elasticity. It stimulates cellular activity in the skin, helping to prevent wrinkles, uneven skin texture, dark spots, enlarged pores and other concerns associated with skin ageing. It protects the skin from sunlight, helps wounds heal and has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps treat dry skin and psoriasis, while its antibacterial properties also make it a suitable addition to creams for acne-prone and blemish-prone skin.

Recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, as well as children with atopic skin. Also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin at low concentrations, where it regulates sebum and fights bacteria without clogging pores. Ideal for eczema, psoriasis or burns, where it soothes irritation.

A study published in the Journal of Oleo Science (2010) showed that shea butter at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks of application in people with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) reports that triterpene esters from shea butter inhibit inflammatory mediators by 40 % in vitro, supporting the healing of acne. A clinical study involving 20 volunteers showed that daily application of 15 % shea butter reduced transepidermal water loss by 32 % over 28 days (Skin Research and Technology, 2015).

HallStar® Cetyl Alcohol Cetyl Alcohol

This plant-based emulsifier helps create smooth emulsions from oils and water. In cosmetics and in this ingredient, the word alcohol refers to something different from the alcohol found in drinks, so the two should not be confused. It is a fatty alcohol derived from plant fats and oils; ours comes from coconut oil. Fatty alcohols play a very similar role to fatty acids, particularly omega-3 fatty acids. It has excellent moisturising, softening and hydrating properties. It forms a protective film on the skin that prevents water loss and keeps the skin from drying out too quickly. This fatty alcohol is obtained from coconut oil through natural extraction, making it ideal for natural cosmetics. It is a white, waxy solid fat with a mild scent that melts at around 49 degrees Celsius, making it easy to work with in formulations. Thanks to its stability and compatibility with various emulsifiers, it improves the texture of creams, gels and lotions, contributing to a luxurious feel on the skin. Its plant origin ensures high purity without impurities from petrochemical sources, which is valued by manufacturers of organic cosmetics.

Cetyl alcohol works primarily by moisturising and restoring the skin barrier. As an emulsifier, it stabilises emulsions, preventing the oil and water phases from separating, while also forming an occlusive protective film on the skin's surface that minimises transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This film protects against dryness caused by external factors such as wind and cold. It also has softening effects that improve skin elasticity, and mild antioxidant properties thanks to its similarity to omega-3 fatty acids, which support hydration and anti-inflammatory processes. In cosmetic formulations, it is used at concentrations of 1-5 %, where it significantly increases the viscosity and creaminess of products without leaving a greasy feel.

We recommend cetyl alcohol for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it helps combat moisture loss and supports barrier repair. It is also suitable for oily skin at low concentrations, as it does not clog pores and improves texture without adding shine. It is ideal for atopic or eczema-prone skin, where it soothes irritation and protects against dryness. In haircare, it is valued for restoring smoothness to dry, brittle hair.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2004) showed that cetyl alcohol at concentrations of 2-4 % reduced transepidermal water loss by 25 % after 4 weeks of application to dry skin, significantly improving hydration and elasticity. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) confirmed that, in combination with emulsifiers, it increases emulsion stability and supports lipid barrier repair by 30 % in people with impaired skin function.

Ectoin® natural Ectoin

Ectoin® natural comes from a natural source – it is a bioactive molecule isolated from extremophilic microorganisms that occur naturally in hypersaline environments. This ingredient is the result of an evolutionary adaptation that allows organisms to protect their cells against extreme conditions. Ectoin belongs to a group of substances known as extremolytes – natural osmoprotectants that enable cells to survive in harsh environments. Its natural origin and complex mechanism of action place it among the most advanced bioactive ingredients in natural cosmetics.

This ingredient works in several ways to restore and strengthen the skin barrier. Ectoin acts as a powerful water-binding agent, retaining water deep within the skin and increasing hydration by up to 200 percent compared with untreated skin. It also acts as an antioxidant, neutralising free radicals and protecting cells from damage caused by UV radiation, blue light and environmental pollution. Its anti-inflammatory action reduces inflammation and supports the repair of a damaged skin barrier, helping to soothe irritation and sensitivity.

Ectoin® natural is ideally suited to sensitive, dehydrated, stressed and mature skin. It is recommended for people with dry, irritated areas, as well as those whose skin is affected by inflammatory conditions. It also brings relief to skin exposed to intense sunlight or environmental stress. Its gentle nature means it can also be used on oily and acne-prone skin without the risk of further irritation.

Clinical studies confirm its significant effects: during a 12-day trial, skin hydration increased by up to 200 percent, and this level of hydration was maintained for a further 7 days after application stopped. After 10 days of regular use, the increased hydration level remained almost constant until day 19 of the study, highlighting its long-lasting moisturising effect.

Coenzyme Q10 Ubiquinone

(CoQ10), also known as “vitamin Q”, is found in virtually every cell in the human body and is essential for our bodies to function. It is used to slow down ageing and is an important antioxidant. Antioxidants play a key role in fighting free radicals. If the skin is not sufficiently protected by a layer of antioxidants (substances that bind oxygen), free radicals form. These damage the skin and cause it to age. Coenzyme Q10 plays a vital role in helping cells produce energy for all cellular processes, from cell regeneration to collagen synthesis. After the age of 25, its production begins to slow down. As we age, the amount of coenzyme Q10 in the body decreases as its levels in the tissues decline. Without coenzyme Q10, energy production is interrupted, bringing all biochemical processes in the cell to a halt. This is often associated with the appearance of certain signs of skin ageing. We can supply the skin with the Q10 it needs through a good-quality diet and skincare. The body produces it from dietary fats using vitamins B2, B3, B6 and B9, and it is found in foods such as soya beans, peanuts, spinach, oily fish and beef. For cosmetic use, it is obtained through bacterial fermentation, which ensures a vegan form, or from natural yeast as the patented form Kaneka Ubiquinol, which is identical to the form found in the human body.

It acts as a powerful antioxidant, neutralising free radicals generated by UV radiation, pollution or stress, thereby protecting cells from oxidative damage and slowing down ageing. It supports energy production in the mitochondria through ATP synthesis, accelerating cell regeneration and the synthesis of collagen and elastin. It improves skin elasticity, firmness and hydration, restores the epidermal protective barrier and reduces the depth of wrinkles. In cosmetics, concentrations of around 0,3-1 % are recommended for optimal penetration into the skin.

Ideal for mature, dry, sagging or dehydrated skin showing the first signs of ageing, wrinkles or loss of elasticity. Recommended for sensitive skin exposed to photoageing, UV radiation or environmental factors, as well as for preventing premature ageing in people over 25. Suitable for all skin types, especially those prone to oxidative stress, dark spots or loss of vitality.

A clinical study showed that topical application of coenzyme Q10 reduced the depth of wrinkles around the eyes and improved skin smoothness and elasticity after 12 weeks of use (BioFactors, 2004). Further research showed that topical application of Q10 at a concentration of 0,3 % increased CoQ10 levels in cells, reduced UV-induced oxidative damage to keratinocyte DNA and supported epithelial regeneration (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2018).

Zincidone® Zincidione

This multi-benefit complex combines the properties of L-PCA, particularly its ability to strengthen the skin barrier, with the benefits of zinc, which is widely recognised for its purifying and sebum-regulating action, as well as its anti-inflammatory, healing and immune-protective properties. The complex therefore offers the combined beauty benefits of zinc and L-PCA for skin and hair. It is a synthetically produced cosmetic ingredient in which L-PCA is the sodium salt of pyroglutamic acid, an amino acid naturally found in the skin, obtained through biotechnological processes. Zinc is a mineral element that binds to L-PCA in this form for improved stability and penetration into the skin. The ingredient is intended for use in professional cosmetics, with an emphasis on purity and skin compatibility. It contains no natural plant extract, but has a bio-inspired composition for optimal effectiveness.

It works by regulating sebum through inhibition of the enzyme 5α-reductase, reducing sebum production and mattifying the skin. It has strong antibacterial properties, particularly against Propionibacterium acnes (C. acnes), helping to purify the skin and reduce blemishes. It also moisturises and restores the skin barrier thanks to L-PCA, which hydrates and protects skin integrity. The anti-inflammatory and healing effects of zinc soothe irritation, support the skin's immunity and optimise the penetration of other active ingredients. The recommended concentration in formulations is 0,5 to 2 % for maximum effectiveness without irritation.

We recommend it for oily, acne-prone and congested skin, where it regulates sebum and tackles blemishes. It is also suitable for sensitive and irritated skin thanks to its soothing and barrier-supporting properties. For dehydrated skin, it provides hydration without feeling heavy, while for mature skin, it supports immunity and healing. Uses include care for oily hair and scalps, mattifying products, supporting skin immunity and treating irritated areas. We do not recommend it for extremely dry skin unless combined with hydrating ingredients.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) demonstrated that Zincidone at a concentration of 1 % inhibits the growth of C. acnes by 99,9 % after 24 hours in vitro, significantly reducing inflammatory acne lesions. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that at a concentration of 1,5 %, Zincidone reduces sebum by 42 % over 28 days in subjects with oily skin, while improving barrier function by 25 % as measured by TEWL (transepidermal water loss).

Sclerotium Gum Sclerotium Gum

This naturally derived polysaccharide is produced by fermenting sugars with a filamentous fungus. Once fermentation is complete, the resulting substance is separated, purified and dried into a fine powder. In cosmetics, it offers a plant-based alternative to certain synthetic thickeners and is valued for its smooth, soft texture without a noticeably sticky feel.

In a formula, it acts primarily as a thickener, stabiliser and suspending agent. When hydrated in water, it forms a three-dimensional network that increases the viscosity of a gel or emulsion. It helps keep oil droplets, pigments and fine powder particles evenly dispersed and reduces settling. It improves spreadability and can leave a delicate film on the skin, helping it feel comfortable and indirectly helping to slow water evaporation. However, it is not a hydrating or anti-inflammatory active ingredient in its own right. In cosmetic formulations, it is commonly used at concentrations of approximately 0,1 to 2 per cent, depending on the desired consistency.

It is suitable for gels, serums, creams, emulsions, sunscreens and gentle cleansing products. It works well in products for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it helps create a soft, protective texture. It can also be used for oily or acne-prone skin, as it allows lightweight gel formulations to be made without large amounts of oil. However, suitability for any particular skin type always depends on the product's full formulation.

A study of scleroglucan hydrogels prepared at a concentration of 2 per cent showed that the systems had firm, elastic properties. Two networks tested achieved elastic moduli of 113 and 161 Pa, with smaller pores measuring 7 micrometres associated with greater gel strength. At a concentration of 2 grams per litre, the emulsifying capacity with a model oil reached 56 to 60 per cent (International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2007). The results primarily confirm its ability to form a stable gel structure, keep particles in suspension and support emulsion stability.

During manufacture, it hydrates best directly in the water phase with consistent stirring. The powder should be added gradually to avoid lumps. The final viscosity depends on the concentration, pH, electrolyte content, other polymers and the mixing method. Stability must therefore be checked in the complete formulation before use in production.

Sage essential oil Salvia Officinalis Oil

The name comes from the Latin word "salvere", meaning "to heal" or "to be well". Common sage (Salvia Officinalis) is a well-known aromatic herb native to the Mediterranean, traditionally used in natural medicine for centuries. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the leaves and flowers of the plant, harvested at full bloom from June to July, when the concentration of active compounds is highest. It is an organic natural extract with a neutral herbal scent and a thin consistency, containing powerful antioxidants and antimicrobial compounds such as polyphenols and organic acids.

Function
Sage oil acts primarily as a powerful antioxidant and soothing ingredient. Thanks to its high concentration of alpha-linolenic acid, it moisturises the skin and restores its natural protective barrier, helping to prevent dryness and flaking. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties reduce inflammation and support the regeneration of damaged skin. Its very high concentration of antioxidants effectively slows the visible signs of skin ageing and protects cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.

Recommendations
Sage oil is ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, mature and acne-prone skin. We recommend it for people with concerns such as dermatitis, ulcers, rashes or sensitive skin. Thanks to its moisturising properties, it is also useful in hair care, especially for weak, tired hair. It is also suitable for oily, acne-prone skin, where its antimicrobial action can help.

Scientific evidence
Research has shown that sage oil has significant anti-inflammatory properties that can alleviate inflammation associated with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. The oil's antioxidant effects protect cells from damage caused by free radicals, supporting overall skin health and helping to slow the ageing process. Thanks to its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, sage oil has proved useful in treating wounds, skin infections and bacteria when applied directly to the affected areas.

Common lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil

Lavender is an aromatic medicinal plant. This beautiful, lush shrub grows mainly on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, where it was valued by the ancient Egyptians for embalming and in perfumes. Its wonderful scent never tires and always surprises with its boundless energy, revitalising a tired body and soothing muscular and nervous tension. Lavender supports the skin's natural defences, soothes skin after sun exposure and has a beneficial effect on burns. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is used to treat eczema and fungal infections. It supports the healing of damaged skin and is an excellent insect repellent. Obtained by distilling the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender, it is 100% natural and environmentally friendly. It contains phytosterols, flavonoids, tannins, coumarin, linalyl acetate and linalool, which contribute to its rejuvenating and astringent properties.

Lavender oil soothes irritated skin, has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, regenerates skin and speeds up wound healing. It moisturises dry and dehydrated skin, helping it retain moisture and restore its protective barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties thanks to flavonoids, which protect against free radicals. The antibacterial properties of linalool and linalyl acetate help regulate sebum production and reduce inflammation. In cosmetics, it is used at concentrations of 0,5-2% in creams, toners and shampoos for all skin types.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It soothes sensitive and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and irritation. For oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria. For mature skin, it slows ageing and supports elasticity. It is also suitable for skin affected by psoriasis, dermatitis or burns, where it speeds up regeneration.

A study demonstrated that lavender oil from Lavandula angustifolia and linalyl acetate have a strong inhibitory effect on inflammation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research data cited in analyses). Further research showed that application at a concentration of 1-3% reduces inflammatory markers by 40% in patients with eczema after 4 weeks (Phytotherapy Research, 2018).

It helps relax stiff muscles after sport or physical exertion. Lavender drives away “impure thoughts” and strengthens the ego. A hint of lavender can lift your mood, as the sense of smell can significantly influence brain function. It eases nervous tension and is excellent for insomnia and headaches.

Xanthan gum Xanthan Gum

Xanthan gum is a fine powder obtained by fermenting sugar. This 100 % natural stabiliser and emulsifier is used in food and cosmetics. It acts as a thickener, emulsion stabiliser and humectant that binds water and retains it in the skin for a long time. It is obtained by fermenting glucose and sucrose. Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide produced by the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris derived from maize. No genetically modified raw materials are used in its production. This biopolymer is formed through a fermentation process in which Xanthomonas campestris bacteria convert simple sugars from maize, soya or wheat into a complex polysaccharide. The process involves inoculating the culture, fermenting it under controlled temperature and pH conditions, then purifying, spray-drying and milling it into a fine powder. Discovered in the 1950s and patented in 1963 by the USDA, it offers a renewable alternative to traditional thickeners. It is not synthetic but produced biotechnologically from natural sources, making it suitable for organic cosmetics and GMO-free food.

Its mechanism of action involves a high water-binding capacity, which moisturises the skin and improves hydration. It stabilises emulsions by preventing the oil and water phases from separating, helping to restore the skin’s barrier function through improved product consistency. It provides a smooth, silky feel on the skin, making application gentle and reducing friction. At low concentrations, typically 0,1-1 %, it achieves high viscosity, stabilises suspensions and foams, and withstands changes in pH (3-12), temperature and salt levels. It is used to create transparent gels, control the flow properties of water-based formulations and provide flexibility.

It is recommended for all skin types, especially dry, dehydrated, sensitive and normal skin, where it improves hydration and comfort. It is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin in cleansing gels and shampoos thanks to its stability at an acidic pH (4,5-5,5). In creams and serums for mature skin, it supports the skin barrier. It does not weigh the skin down, is non-irritating and is ideal for vegan, gluten-free cosmetics.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that xanthan gum at a concentration of 0,5 % in moisturising formulations increased moisture retention in the skin by 25 % after 24 hours compared with a placebo (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2015). Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that, at 0,3 % in emulsions, it stabilised the barrier function of dry skin 18 % more effectively, as measured by transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Packaging that works in harmony with the formula

When choosing packaging for LucyLab, we weren’t looking for a compromise between appearance and function. We wanted a technical solution that would help protect an active cosmetic formula, make everyday use easier and be thoughtfully designed in terms of the materials used. That’s why we chose Capless / Airless packaging – a 50 ml airless cosmetic container with no metal components.

Airless protection for sensitive cosmetic formulations

The airless system dispenses the product using an internal piston, without a conventional dip tube, and significantly limits repeated exposure of the formula to air during use. This helps reduce the risk of oxidation of sensitive active ingredients while also limiting the product’s contact with hands and the outside environment. This allows us to develop LucyLab products with carefully formulated preservative systems, rather than relying solely on preservatives to protect the formula.

One precise dose with each pump

The pump dispenses approximately 0.5 ml of product per press. Application is therefore clean, hygienic and easy to control. There’s no need to scoop out the product with your fingers or open a jar – simply press and apply. This practical system is ideal for everyday skincare at home or on the go.

Metal-free and designed for easier recycling

This packaging is a metal-free, mono-material packaging solution. The main components are made from polypropylene (PP), the inner piston is made from PE, and the system contains no metal spring. Its simpler material composition makes sorting and recycling easier, subject to the facilities available through your local collection system.

Materials suited to modern natural cosmetics

PP and PE are packaging materials accepted by the COSMOS standard, which also underpins the certification of natural and organic cosmetics by organisations such as ECOCERT. The packaging is manufactured in facilities certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. For LucyLab, this is the combination we look for: formula protection, hygienic application, precise dispensing and more responsible packaging design.

“Tak toto je asi prvý krém, ktorý môžem používať bez nejakých reakcií. Mám zmiešanú pleť a používam ho hlavne večer na upokojenie pleti , cez deň mi stačí sérum. Pre mňa prekvapenie, že v lete úplne v pohode znesie moja pleť krém, mám z toho radosť. Ďakujem”

“Za mňa, oveľa praktickejšie bolo balenie so skrutkovacím uzáverom bez vrchnáku.

Veľmi mi pomáha Vaša zinková mastička, no vôbec mi nevyhovovala hutná konzistecia (ťažké roztieranie a zostával biely film).

Jana
