A magnesium wellness ritual for silky-smooth skin

This luxurious revitalising mineral ritual delivers four benefits in one step – it cleanses, exfoliates, nourishes and hydrates. The unique magnesium scrub combines dual exfoliation with nourishing care and a relaxing massage. Magnesium salt crystals remove dead skin cells, support microcirculation, ease tension in tired muscles, smooth rough patches and help restore softness and a fresh appearance to the skin. BIO aloe vera, almond oil and shea butter hydrate and intensely soften the skin, while supporting its natural renewal. After rinsing, skin is left supple, silky-soft and beautifully scented with fresh notes of eucalyptus, bergamot and lavender. The perfect at-home wellness ritual for beautiful skin and a body and mind that feel wonderfully relaxed.

What the scrub helps with

  • Rough and uneven skin: magnesium salt and finely ground apricot kernels provide dual exfoliation. They remove dead skin cells, smooth rough patches and leave skin visibly softer.
  • Tension in tired muscles: massaging with magnesium salt supports microcirculation and brings a pleasant feeling of relaxation after a demanding day, physical exertion or sport.
  • Dry skin and tightness: leaves skin hydrated, so there’s no need to apply cream after exfoliating. A blend of BIO almond oil, BIO shea butter and BIO aloe vera hydrates the skin.
  • A wellness ritual: refreshing eucalyptus and bergamot mingle with soothing lavender, turning everyday skincare into a luxurious wellness ritual.

Who it’s for

This magnesium body scrub is suitable for all skin types. It’s especially suited to:

  • dry, rough and flaky skin that needs intensive smoothing,
  • skin that needs deep treatment,
  • dull, tired skin lacking natural radiance,
  • tired bodies and muscles in need of a pleasantly relaxing massage,
  • anyone who wants to enjoy an invigorating wellness ritual.

Key ingredients

  • Magnesium: the scrub’s key mineral ingredient. The crystals exfoliate the skin and, during massage, support microcirculation and help relax tired muscles. Research has confirmed that magnesium applied to the skin can penetrate directly into it. In a clinical study of 30 people with dry atopic skin, it improved skin hydration and barrier function, and reduced roughness and redness.
  • Finely ground apricot kernels: add a second level of exfoliation to the magnesium salt. They help thoroughly smooth particularly rough areas on the legs, knees, elbows and feet.
  • BIO aloe vera: provides hydrating and soothing care for the skin during exfoliation. In a study of 20 women, it increased hydration in the upper layers of the skin after just one use.
  • BIO almond oil: rich in emollient lipids that nourish and smooth the skin, helping to reduce the feeling of dryness after exfoliation.
  • BIO shea butter: gives the scrub its rich, caring texture, replenishes the skin’s lipids and leaves it supple, soft and protected from dryness.
  • Eucalyptus, bergamot and lavender: create a fresh botanical blend that refreshes the senses, uplifts the mood and adds a relaxing touch to your massage.

Texture

The rich texture contains magnesium salt crystals and finely ground apricot kernels. It glides pleasantly over the skin during massage, while the granules gently yet thoroughly smooth it. After rinsing, a delicate caring veil remains on the skin, leaving it feeling silky-soft, supple and free from unpleasant tightness. Fresh notes of eucalyptus and bergamot gradually give way to the soothing scent of lavender.

How to use

Apply to damp body skin and massage in using circular movements. Rinse with water after massaging. Use 1 to 2 times a week.

Name INCI BIO
Almond oil Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil BIO

It is pressed from dried sweet almond kernels. It contains a high proportion of bioactive substances – unsaturated fatty acids – oleic, linoleic and palmitic acids, vitamins A and E, lecithin and the minerals potassium, calcium and magnesium. This natural oil is obtained by cold-pressing almond kernels sourced mainly from the Mediterranean, where almonds have been grown since ancient times. Gentle processing preserves the full range of beneficial components, including polyphenols and sterols, which contribute to its stability and effectiveness. It is not synthetic and can be certified as an organic extract from pesticide-free organic farming. The oil has a yellow-orange colour, a pleasant almond scent and a rich consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy film.

It works by moisturising and restoring the skin barrier thanks to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids, which replenish skin lipids and prevent moisture loss. Its vitamin E provides powerful antioxidant action, neutralising free radicals and protecting cells from oxidative stress. It has soothing and anti-itch properties, relieves irritation and supports regeneration. At a concentration of 5-20 % in creams, it significantly improves hydration; a study showed that applying an oil containing 10 % almond oil increased skin hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). It does not exfoliate but gently nourishes without clogging pores.

We recommend it for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, mature and problem skin prone to acne, eczema or redness. It is ideal for all skin types, including combination and oily skin, because its composition is similar to that of human skin lipids, making it non-comedogenic and naturally compatible with the skin. It is particularly suitable for people with flaky, cracked or ageing skin, where it supports vitality, combats environmental stressors and helps prevent wrinkles. Its gentle composition also makes it suitable for children and atopic skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) showed that almond oil at a concentration of 10 %, applied daily, reduced transepidermal water loss by 22 % and improved skin elasticity by 15 % after 8 weeks in women with dry skin. Further research in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2007) confirmed its anti-inflammatory effects, with the extract reducing inflammatory markers by 30 % in vitro.

Organic shea butter Butyrospermum Parkii Butter BIO

Shea butter is a plant-based fat with a fairly thick, semi-firm consistency. It is obtained from the nuts of the shea tree, also known as karité. This tree grows in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in the western part of the continent, where the nuts are gathered by hand by women in traditional communities. Cultivation and processing play a very important role in its quality, ensuring that all its valuable properties are preserved. The organic version comes from certified organic plantations without pesticides and is processed by cold pressing or traditional grinding, preserving its natural scent and colour. It contains a high proportion of vitamins A, E and F. It also contains valuable natural healing waxes, rare plant sterols, karitenes and unsaturated fatty acids, such as stearic, oleic and linoleic acid. Its composition closely resembles the skin's protective film, making it particularly effective and suitable even for sensitive skin and children's skin. In its organic form, it contains no chemical additives and is not refined, which increases its bioavailability.

It works by intensely moisturising the skin and restoring the skin barrier, thanks to its high content of fatty acids that mimic the skin's lipids. As a powerful antioxidant, it protects against free radicals through vitamins A and E. It has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, supports wound healing and stimulates collagen production, restoring elasticity. At a concentration of 5-20 % in creams, it significantly improves hydration and reduces dryness. Shea butter conditions, moisturises and rejuvenates the skin. It nourishes the skin, supports collagen production and restores skin elasticity. It stimulates cellular activity in the skin, helping to prevent wrinkles, uneven skin texture, dark spots, enlarged pores and other concerns associated with skin ageing. It protects the skin from sunlight, helps wounds heal and has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps treat dry skin and psoriasis, while its antibacterial properties also make it a suitable addition to creams for acne-prone and blemish-prone skin.

Recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, as well as children with atopic skin. Also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin at low concentrations, where it regulates sebum and fights bacteria without clogging pores. Ideal for eczema, psoriasis or burns, where it soothes irritation.

A study published in the Journal of Oleo Science (2010) showed that shea butter at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks of application in people with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) reports that triterpene esters from shea butter inhibit inflammatory mediators by 40 % in vitro, supporting the healing of acne. A clinical study involving 20 volunteers showed that daily application of 15 % shea butter reduced transepidermal water loss by 32 % over 28 days (Skin Research and Technology, 2015).

Gosulin IL Isoamyl Laurate, Isoamyl Cocoate

This is a natural emollient derived from sugar beet and coconut. It is of 100% natural origin and is 100% biodegradable. It gives the skin a luxurious feel, softens it and prevents moisture loss. It gives products a lightweight, non-greasy feel. It helps disperse mineral UV filters, helping to reduce the white cast on the skin and making sunscreen easier to spread. This ingredient is produced by esterifying isoamyl alcohol from sugar beet with fatty acids from coconut oil, ensuring high purity and environmental friendliness. Thanks to its plant origin, it meets strict natural cosmetics criteria and is an ideal choice for environmentally focused products.

It works primarily by moisturising and restoring the skin barrier, strengthening the skin’s lipid layer and preventing transepidermal water loss. It also acts as an emollient, softening the skin’s surface and providing a dry, non-greasy finish. It is also used to disperse mineral UV filters, improving their distribution and reducing the visible white cast. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 1-10 %, depending on the desired viscosity and type of emulsion, with lower concentrations (1-3 %) sufficient for lightweight creams and higher concentrations (5-10 %) for sunscreens.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin, where it effectively prevents moisture loss and provides comfort without feeling heavy. Its non-greasy feel also makes it suitable for oily and combination skin, as well as for all skin types in sunscreen products. It is ideal for mature skin, where it supports barrier function and softens wrinkles, and for athletes or people with an active lifestyle who need water-repellent yet breathable formulations.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that Isoamyl Laurate at a concentration of 5 % in emulsions with mineral UV filters reduced the visibility of the white cast by 68 % and improved spreadability by 45 % compared with standard emulsifiers. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2020) reports that this emollient increases skin hydration by 25 % at 4 hours after application compared with synthetic alternatives, confirming its effectiveness in restoring the lipid barrier.

Magnesium Magnesium Sulfate

Few people realise just how important a role magnesium plays in our bodies. Magnesium is by far the most important mineral in our body. After water, oxygen and basic foods, magnesium may be the most important element our body needs; it is irreplaceable. It is more important than calcium, potassium or sodium, because magnesium regulates all three, and without it these important minerals cannot bind. Millions of people are deficient in magnesium without knowing it. Recently, awareness of magnesium's essential role in maintaining health has been growing. Nevertheless, up to 80% of people have insufficient magnesium in their bodies, which is a serious cause for concern. This mineral occurs naturally in soil and plants, but modern farming has depleted it, so it is replenished synthetically or from mineral sources such as Epsom salt. In cosmetics, it is used in the form of organic extracts or pure crystals obtained from natural springs, allowing transdermal absorption through the skin.

Magnesium is present in the body in relatively large amounts. Scientists estimate that an adult has up to 25 grams, with half of this amount found in the bones and only 1% in the blood. This mineral needs to be replenished continually, as more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body depend on it. Every cell in our body, including brain cells, needs magnesium. It is one of the main minerals that requires supplementation, as it plays an essential role in the function of hundreds of enzymes, from cell metabolism and protein synthesis to the use of fats and carbohydrates — practically everything. Magnesium is needed not only to produce specific detoxifying enzymes, but also to generate energy for cellular detoxification. In cosmetics, it acts as a humectant that hydrates the skin and strengthens its protective barrier, an antioxidant rich in sulphates that detoxify and protect against free radicals, an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, and a soothing anti-inflammatory agent. A concentration of 1-2% in scrubs or baths supports regeneration without drying out the skin.

The role of magnesium in the body. Magnesium mainly performs the following functions in our bodies: metabolism of calcium, silicon, vitamin D and vitamin K, activation of muscles and nerves, energy production, detoxification, digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, acting as a building block in the formation and synthesis of RNA and DNA, and as a precursor to neurotransmitters such as serotonin. These properties make magnesium ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin, where it restores hydration and elasticity. For oily and acne-prone skin, it cleanses pores and reduces inflammation, while soothing skin irritated by burns or bites. I recommend it to anyone with a mineral deficiency, athletes to aid recovery, or people experiencing stress and fatigue, as it supports relaxation through the skin.

Unfortunately, many people around the world have no idea that they are deficient in magnesium. Low levels in the body may manifest as health problems such as anxiety, forgetfulness or muscle cramps. Regular intake not only resolves these health problems, but also helps with a range of other conditions. According to a study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (2017), transdermal application of magnesium sulphate at a concentration of 1% increased serum magnesium levels by 12% after 12 days of bathing and reduced inflammatory markers by 25% (compared with a placebo). Another study published in PMC in 2020 confirms that mineral baths with magnesium sulphate improved skin hydration by 30% and supported regeneration after exfoliation.

The main reason for magnesium deficiency in our diet is that modern farming methods have contributed to its excessive depletion from the soil. Naturally, it is then also absent from crops grown in such soil. The frequent use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides makes the problem even worse. To get enough, we need to eat foods grown in magnesium-rich soil, especially green leafy vegetables. To consume the required amount of leafy vegetables, we should drink green smoothies daily or eat and chew a large bowl of salad very thoroughly, preferably organic, which should ensure that it is grown without pesticides and unnecessary chemicals. Taking food supplements containing magnesium is another option. It is also advisable for supplements to contain calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K2 alongside magnesium, as these substances complement one another and one cannot be metabolised without the others being present. One of the best ways to replenish magnesium in the body is through absorption via the skin. Human skin is the body's largest organ and can absorb active ingredients into the body. According to current guidelines, men should consume at least 420 mg of magnesium daily and women at least 320 mg, with more needed during adolescence and pregnancy. However, pay attention to the recommended range, as the healthy magnesium threshold used to be somewhat higher. The more unwell we become, the lower the range gets. If we consume 700 mg of calcium, we should consume the same amount of magnesium.

How can you get more magnesium into your body? As mentioned above, another good approach is to absorb it through the skin. Examples include baths or scrubs with added Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate). Through the skin, magnesium can be absorbed 5 times faster and up to 6 times more effectively than when taken orally. The body only ever absorbs what it needs, so there is no risk of overdose.

Apricot kernels Prunus Armeniaca Seed Powder
Apricot kernels, specifically their powdered form known as Prunus Armeniaca Seed Powder, provide a natural, gentle way to exfoliate for smooth, fresh skin. This cosmetic extract is obtained from the kernels of the apricot tree, which belongs to the rose family. The powder is produced by cold milling, which preserves its valuable nutrients. This ingredient works mainly through gentle exfoliation, helping to remove dead skin cells and impurities from the surface. The natural exfoliating particles also stimulate blood microcirculation, helping to smooth the skin's texture and revitalise its appearance. In cosmetics, this ingredient is used primarily as an abrasive agent that gently buffs and cleanses the skin. It is insoluble in water and oil. It is suitable for almost all skin types, including dry, dehydrated and mature skin, where it helps restore freshness and radiance. However, those with oily or acne-prone skin should use it with caution, as it has a comedogenic rating of 2, indicating a slight risk of clogged pores. Experts particularly recommend this ingredient for those who want to improve circulation and achieve softer, smoother facial skin without irritation. Scientific research supports the effects of apricot extracts, although human clinical studies specifically on the powder are limited. However, a 2022 study published in PMC confirmed that apricot kernel extract has significant antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal effects, which are important for protecting and regenerating the skin. One example is the finding that apricot kernel extract has neuroprotective and cardioprotective effects, suggesting a strong ability to combat cellular damage. For the best results, we recommend using the powder in combination with gentle masks or scrubs, where its vitamin A and calcium content provides additional nourishment for the skin. It is an ideal ingredient for those looking for an eco-friendly, effective alternative to chemical exfoliants.
Olivem®1000 Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate

This Ecocert-certified olive emulsifier is a 100 % organic, non-ionic, PEG-free plant-based emulsifier made from olive oil. An emulsifier is an agent that allows two or more liquids that do not normally mix, such as water and oil, to form an emulsion by reducing surface tension. It has excellent moisturising properties and helps soften the skin. It reduces moisture loss and is hypoallergenic. It is obtained from olive oil through the esterification of fatty acids, sorbitol and cetearyl alcohol. Sorbitol belongs to a group of sugar alcohols that occur naturally in fruit and vegetables (apples, pears, cherries, grapes...). It is a natural sweetener. Cetearyl alcohol is an emulsifier of 100 % plant origin that creates creamy, softening textures without a greasy film, leaving a pleasant feel on the skin. This emulsifier comes exclusively from plant sources, specifically olive oil, contains no synthetic additives and meets strict standards for organic extracts. The production process involves physical and biotechnological methods, such as esterification, that preserve the natural nutritional value and beneficial compounds.

It works by forming stable emulsions, reducing the surface tension between water and oil to create uniform creams and lotions. Its olive fatty acid content provides intensive moisture, restores the skin's lipid barrier by mimicking its natural structure and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Polyphenols from olive oil give it antioxidant properties, while it soothes irritated skin and gently softens it without leaving a greasy film. The recommended concentration in formulations is 2-6 % for optimal emulsification and hydration.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it effectively restores the barrier and retains moisture. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its non-comedogenic composition and light texture, which does not clog pores. Ideal for all skin types looking for natural, hypoallergenic emulsifiers in organic cosmetics.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that olive ester-based emulsifiers at a concentration of 4 % reduced TEWL by 28 % after 4 weeks of application to dry skin and improved hydration by 35 % (compared with the control). Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate at a concentration of 3-5 % increase skin elasticity by 22 % and support skin barrier repair in individuals with atopic dermatitis.

Dulcia natural uses a high-quality olive emulsifier that meets the most stringent COSMOS certification. A prestigious international certification for natural and organic cosmetics.

Cetearyl Alcohol Cetearyl Alcohol

Cetearyl Alcohol is a sought-after ‘big brother’ in cosmetics: a gentle, waxy ingredient that helps create smooth, stable creams.

Unlike the common drying alcohols found in toners, this ingredient is not irritating at all; instead, it helps soften the skin. It is a solid, waxy substance derived from vegetable oils, most commonly coconut or palm oil. Its durable structure makes it biodegradable and environmentally safe, making it ideal for modern, environmentally conscious formulations.

It works by forming a delicate, occlusive film on the skin’s surface, which effectively prevents water loss. In this way, the ingredient actively softens the skin, restores the hydrolipid barrier and acts as a powerful emollient. In typical cosmetic formulations, concentrations range from 1 % to 10 %, ensuring a high level of safety and effectiveness.

We recommend it for all skin types, including very dry, dehydrated, eczema-prone or sensitive skin in need of soothing care. It is also completely safe for children, pregnant women and people with dehydrated or mature skin that needs intensive hydration and smoothing.

A notable study on the safety of this ingredient was conducted by the independent organisation Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR). Its comprehensive assessment confirmed that Cetearyl Alcohol is safe for use in cosmetic products, is non-toxic and does not cause allergic reactions. As CIR states: ‘Cetearyl Alcohol is considered safe at concentrations commonly used in cosmetic products, with no evidence of sensitisation or allergic reactions’ (CIR Expert Panel, Final Report on the Safety Assessment, 1988).

Hydrogenated Castor Oil Hydrogenated Castor Oil

This melted and then hydrogenated ingredient derived from castor oil gives cosmetics a natural scent and an emollient effect, making it ideal for everyday skincare.

During production, the liquid extracted from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis) undergoes hydrogenation, which means hydrogen is added to it. This step turns the original oil into a solid, white, impermeable ointment, also known as castor wax. The resulting product is a pure vegetarian extract, ready for use in various types of cosmetics, from body creams to haircare products.

This ingredient works primarily by forming a protective film on the skin's surface, effectively moisturising it and restoring the skin barrier. It acts as an occlusive agent, helping to prevent the loss of the skin's own moisture. In cosmetic formulations, it is commonly used at concentrations ranging from 0,00007 % to 22 %, which are considered safe and non-irritating for human skin.

We recommend this ingredient particularly for dry, dehydrated and mature skin that needs extra hydration and repair. It is also suitable for sensitive skin, as it does not cause irritation or act as a sensitiser. Its emollient properties make it ideal for those struggling with cracked, dry skin.

A study documented in the “Final Report on the Safety Assessment”, published in the journal *International Journal of Toxicology*, states that hydrogenated castor oil acts as a skin-conditioning agent with an occlusive effect that significantly reduces water loss. The report explicitly states: “Hydrogenated Castor Oil functions as a skin-conditioning agent—occlusive” (Gottschalck and McEwen, 2004), confirming its ability to retain moisture in the skin.

Iscaguard®PFA Phenethyl alcohol, Caprylyl glycol

A multifunctional additive suitable for formulating preservative-free cosmetic products. Both ingredients have intrinsic antimicrobial properties that allow products to be formulated safely with a low potential for irritation and sensitisation. Phenethyl alcohol is an organic compound in the form of a colourless liquid. It occurs naturally in essential oils and has a pleasant floral scent. In cosmetics, it acts as a preservative and fragrance ingredient. It is found in make-up, eye make-up, personal care products, shampoos, perfumes and colognes. Phenethyl alcohol is safe in cosmetics and personal care products at concentrations of up to 1 %. At higher concentrations, it causes mild skin and eye irritation. It poses no risk to the foetus or to pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is vegan and permitted in organic cosmetics. Caprylyl glycol is obtained from coconut or palm oil, making it a naturally derived substance suitable for vegan and organic formulations.

Caprylyl glycol is used in cosmetics as a surfactant and emulsifier, improving product texture and helping water and oil combine effectively. It is a humectant and skin-conditioning agent that maintains the skin's moisture balance. It also acts as a stabiliser and preservative and enhances the antimicrobial activity of other preservatives. In fact, it is often used in preservative blends. Its multifunctional nature (moisturising and antimicrobial) makes it useful in many cosmetic products. Its mechanism of action involves moisturising, restoring the skin barrier and providing antimicrobial protection; phenethyl alcohol inhibits the growth of bacteria and yeasts at concentrations of 0,5-1 %, while caprylyl glycol retains moisture and enhances the antimicrobial effect at levels of 0,5-2 %.

It is mild and gentle on the skin and can be used in products for children's skin. Allergic reactions to caprylyl glycol are very rare, and it is very well tolerated. It is recommended for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, oily and acne-prone skin, as well as mature skin and products for children aged 0+ years. Its low sensitisation potential makes it ideal for atopic skin, eczema or rosacea, where it minimises the risk of irritation with long-term use.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) demonstrated that a blend of phenethyl alcohol and caprylyl glycol at a concentration of 1 % inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by 99,9 % and Candida albicans by 95 % after 7 days of incubation, significantly extending the microbial stability of emulsions without traditional preservatives. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) confirmed that caprylyl glycol at a concentration of 1 % improves skin hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks of application in individuals with dry skin.

Eucalyptus silica Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil

It is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the blue gum eucalyptus, which is native to Australia and known for its medicinal properties. It is a natural essential oil without synthetic additives, often used in organic cosmetics for its pure origin. This oil is colourless to pale yellow, with a distinctive camphor-like scent that evokes the freshness of a forest. Traditionally used to clear the airways, it is valued in modern cosmetics for its antiseptic effects. The production process preserves bioactive compounds from the leaves, creating a concentrated product rich in natural essences. Blue gum eucalyptus grows in temperate climates, and its leaves are rich in essential oils. They are harvested at the optimum stage of maturity for maximum effectiveness.

The essential oil has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties thanks to its main component, eucalyptol (1,8-cineole, 80-91 %), which disrupts bacterial cell walls and regulates sebum production. It soothes irritated skin, reduces redness and provides a cooling effect. It prevents inflammation, cleanses pores and promotes healthy-looking skin. At concentrations of up to 1 %, it is suitable for topical use in cleansers, toners and creams, where it acts as an antiseptic without drying out the skin. It also has antioxidant effects that protect against free radicals.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone and blemish-prone skin, where it regulates sebum and fights acne-causing bacteria. It is also suitable for combination skin prone to inflammation, or for people who play sport, thanks to its cooling effect on irritated skin. People with very sensitive skin or fragrance allergies should avoid it, as it may cause sensitisation (EU sensitisation index 5 %). Pregnant women and children should use it with caution and always dilute it.

A study published in PMC showed that Eucalyptus globulus essential oil inhibits tyrosinase and melanin production, producing a depigmenting effect and reducing inflammation without irritating the skin (PMC, 2022). Further research confirmed antibacterial activity against MRSA and anti-inflammatory effects that relieve swelling and pain (Healthline, 2023). At a concentration of 10 μL, it neutralises 55,44 % of ABTS radicals, demonstrating strong antioxidant properties (PMC, 2023). These data confirm its safety when diluted and its potential in dermocosmetics.

Bergamot essential oil Citrus Bergamia Fruit Oil

Bergamot is a tree that grows up to 10 metres tall, originating in Morocco but mainly cultivated in Italy. It was named after the town of Bergamo in Lombardy. The oil is obtained by steam distillation of the rind (peel) of bergamot fruit. Bergamot is a citrus fruit the size of an orange, with a yellow colour like a lemon. Its scent is sweet, fruity, fresh and citrusy, with a light floral note. Its botanical origin is not entirely clear; it is considered a hybrid of bitter orange and lemon, or a mutation of lemon. Its roots can be traced to South-East Asia, and it reached Italy in the 18th century, particularly Calabria, where around 100 tonnes are produced each year. The fruit is harvested by hand from November to January because it is delicate. The essential oil is 100% natural, obtained by steam distillation rather than synthetically produced, and organic versions from organic cultivation are available.

The essential oil has strong antiseptic properties and helps treat skin conditions, acne, eczema and psoriasis. Bergamot has antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties and effectively combats fungi. It is particularly suitable for oily skin, acne and cold sores. It is an excellent fragrance ingredient for natural perfumes or deodorants. Its action involves antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties provided by components such as limonene, linalyl acetate and linalool, which destroy bacteria and fungi and regulate sebum. It soothes irritated skin, supports wound healing, cleanses pores and regulates sebum production. It is used at concentrations of 1-3% in carrier oils or facial toners for safe application to avoid photosensitivity.

We recommend it for oily, acne-prone and blemish-prone skin with spots, blackheads or cysts, as well as sensitive skin with eczema, psoriasis or cold sores. It is suitable for cleansing and refreshing dehydrated skin, regenerating mature skin and brightening skin prone to dark spots. It is ideal for those looking for a natural antiseptic for homemade cosmetics, but not for sensitive skin exposed to the sun unless the FC F (furocoumarin-free) version is used.

A study published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2016) demonstrated that bergamot essential oil at a concentration of 0,5% inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria by more than 90% within 2 hours of exposure, confirming its antiseptic effects on skin infections. Further research in Phytotherapy Research (2018) showed that topical application of bergamot in a 1% solution reduced inflammatory markers in mice with psoriasis by 68% after 7 days. These data support its clinical use for skin conditions.

Common lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil

Lavender is an aromatic medicinal plant. This beautiful, lush shrub grows mainly on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, where it was valued by the ancient Egyptians for embalming and in perfumes. Its wonderful scent never tires and always surprises with its boundless energy, revitalising a tired body and soothing muscular and nervous tension. Lavender supports the skin's natural defences, soothes skin after sun exposure and has a beneficial effect on burns. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is used to treat eczema and fungal infections. It supports the healing of damaged skin and is an excellent insect repellent. Obtained by distilling the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender, it is 100% natural and environmentally friendly. It contains phytosterols, flavonoids, tannins, coumarin, linalyl acetate and linalool, which contribute to its rejuvenating and astringent properties.

Lavender oil soothes irritated skin, has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, regenerates skin and speeds up wound healing. It moisturises dry and dehydrated skin, helping it retain moisture and restore its protective barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties thanks to flavonoids, which protect against free radicals. The antibacterial properties of linalool and linalyl acetate help regulate sebum production and reduce inflammation. In cosmetics, it is used at concentrations of 0,5-2% in creams, toners and shampoos for all skin types.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It soothes sensitive and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and irritation. For oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria. For mature skin, it slows ageing and supports elasticity. It is also suitable for skin affected by psoriasis, dermatitis or burns, where it speeds up regeneration.

A study demonstrated that lavender oil from Lavandula angustifolia and linalyl acetate have a strong inhibitory effect on inflammation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research data cited in analyses). Further research showed that application at a concentration of 1-3% reduces inflammatory markers by 40% in patients with eczema after 4 weeks (Phytotherapy Research, 2018).

It helps relax stiff muscles after sport or physical exertion. Lavender drives away “impure thoughts” and strengthens the ego. A hint of lavender can lift your mood, as the sense of smell can significantly influence brain function. It eases nervous tension and is excellent for insomnia and headaches.

Natural vitamin E Tocopherol

100 % natural vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant containing a blend of alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols. Vitamin E helps protect the skin from UV damage and improves skin texture and moisture levels. Our natural vitamin E contains no chemicals or solvents. Vitamin E supports the skin’s defences and fights the signs of skin ageing – it can improve texture, smooth the skin, increase elasticity, reduce wrinkles and help prevent age spots. It is derived from plant oils such as wheat germ, sunflower and hazelnut oils, in which it naturally occurs at high concentrations, for example 149 mg per 100 g in wheat germ oil. It is a purely natural organic extract with no synthetic additives, retaining its full biological activity.

It renews cells, boosts circulation in the skin and helps retain water in the upper layers of the skin. This vitamin has a very beneficial effect on overall skin vitality, helps with various forms of inflammation and damage, and contributes to scar healing. Vitamin E is the best natural antioxidant. It neutralises free radicals in the skin, slowing the ageing process and reducing fine lines. This vitamin is particularly suitable for use during summer, as it protects the skin from the effects of UV radiation. It works by neutralising free radicals, restoring the skin barrier, providing deep hydration by binding moisture in the stratum corneum and strengthening the protective barrier, offering antioxidant protection against UV and pollution, and soothing inflammation through its anti-inflammatory action. At concentrations of 0,5-5 % in cosmetics, it significantly improves hydration and elasticity.

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, mature and dehydrated skin, as well as skin exposed to environmental stress, sunlight or ageing. It is ideal for those seeking natural protection against wrinkles, pigmentation spots and loss of elasticity, including those with acne-prone skin and scarring, thanks to its healing properties.

A study by Gensler et al. showed that applying d-alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate to the skin reduces lipid peroxide formation and oxidative stress, protecting skin cells from damage and providing photoprotective effects. Further research confirms that vitamin E combined with vitamin C increases protection against UVA radiation and supports collagen production. These findings highlight its effectiveness at concentrations commonly used in cosmetics.

Packaging chosen to suit the product – not just its appearance

When creating the LucyLab packaging concept, we wanted every detail to have a purpose. It wasn’t enough for the packaging to look good on a shelf. We looked for a solution that would be durable, pleasant to use every day, suitable for cosmetic formulations and have a clean, timeless look. That’s why we chose a double-wall cosmetic jar made from polypropylene (PP) for selected creams, masks and richer products.

Double Wall Jar – two walls, a more considered design

The double-wall jar consists of an inner container for the cosmetic formulation and an outer shell that provides additional mechanical protection. This design creates stronger, more stable packaging while preserving the elegant, minimalist look typical of LucyLab cosmetics. The wide opening is practical for richer textures and makes it easy to take out exactly the amount of product you need.

PP – a proven material for cosmetic packaging

Polypropylene (PP) is one of the most widely used materials for cosmetic jars and closures. It is lightweight, strong, moisture-resistant and offers good chemical resistance to many cosmetic formulations. PP is marked with recycling code 5 and, when sorted correctly, can be included in the recycling stream, depending on the local collection system.

A material accepted by the COSMOS standard

We also consider the requirements of modern natural cosmetics when choosing packaging. PP is among the materials accepted by the COSMOS standard for the main parts of cosmetic packaging, including jars and closures. ECOCERT, one of the recognised COSMOS certification bodies, assesses not only the formula and production but also the packaging solution when certifying cosmetics.

LucyLab – where function and design speak the same language

For us, the Double Wall Jar brings together everything we expect from packaging: durability, ease of use, product protection and a clean, premium design. Good packaging shouldn’t simply contain a formula. It should be a natural part of it.
