Who it’s for

Matcha Power Antioxidant Serum is suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin. The serum is particularly suited to:

  • tired skin that has lost its freshness and radiance,
  • skin affected by a hectic lifestyle and lack of sleep,
  • skin with pigmentation and an uneven tone,
  • skin with fine lines and wrinkles,
  • sensitive and reactive skin.

Key ingredients

  • KONOMI organic matcha: organic Japanese green tea that provides the skin with a boost of antioxidant protection. It is stone-ground from leaves shaded before harvesting, which increases their chlorophyll, polyphenol and catechin content.
  • Stabilised vitamin C: this stable form of vitamin C resists oxidation, helping it retain its effectiveness for longer. Combined with organic Japanese matcha, it creates an antioxidant shield. A systematic review of seven randomised clinical studies involving 139 participants found significant lightening of pigmentation with topical vitamin C. Treated skin also looked smoother and showed fewer wrinkles.
  • Caffeine: an antioxidant that neutralises free radicals. It is obtained from plants such as coffee and tea and helps reduce puffiness.

Organic green tea hydrolate Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water BIO

Fresh BIO green tea hydrolat is obtained from organically grown fresh green tea leaves. It is rich in amino acids, minerals and polyphenols – antioxidants. It contains a high concentration of L-theanine and a low concentration of caffeine. This organic extract is obtained by steam distillation of fresh leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant, which originates from Asia and is known for its traditional uses in skincare. Unlike synthetic antioxidants, this hydrolat is natural, free from chemical additives, and retains a broad spectrum of bioactive compounds directly from the plant.

Its mechanism of action includes intensive skin hydration thanks to amino acids and minerals, restoration of the skin barrier through polyphenols, and powerful antioxidant effects from EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), which protects against DNA damage caused by UV radiation and free radicals. It has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, reduces redness and puffiness, and supports the repair of collagen fibres, improving elasticity and reducing wrinkles. It has antibacterial properties, cleanses pores and gently exfoliates. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 5-20 % for optimal effects without irritation.

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. For dry and dehydrated skin, it provides hydration and restores the skin barrier; for sensitive skin, it soothes inflammation and redness; for oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria; and for mature skin, it protects against ageing and improves elasticity. It is ideal for all skin types exposed to environmental stress, including UV radiation.

A study published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry (2009) demonstrated that EGCG at a concentration of 10 μM inhibits UVB-induced cell apoptosis and reduces DNA damage by 68 % in human keratinocytes. Organic nettle hydrolate Urtica Dioica Extract

BIO nettle extract – a herbal water rich in bioactive compounds. It hydrates the skin, tightens pores, refreshes the complexion and regulates sebum production. It has antiseptic properties. It reduces hair loss and promotes hair growth. It is a great aid against dandruff and excess scalp oiliness. This BIO hydrolat is obtained by distilling all the above-ground parts of stinging nettle (Urtica dioica), a perennial in the nettle family that grows in temperate regions of Europe, Asia and North America. It is a natural BIO extract without synthetic additives, rich in vitamins A, C and K, iron, silicon and flavonoids that support skin and hair health. Nettle has been used in traditional herbal medicine for thousands of years for its detoxifying and regenerating effects.

Nettle hydrolat hydrates the skin thanks to its polysaccharides, which bind water and retain it in the upper layers of the skin. It regulates sebum production by reducing sebaceous gland activity and tightening pores, helping to prevent blockages. It has strong antiseptic and antibacterial properties thanks to tannins and flavonoids, which inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. It soothes irritated skin, reduces inflammation and supports skin barrier repair. As an antioxidant, it fights free radicals, slowing down ageing. For hair, it combats dandruff, reduces scalp oiliness and stimulates hair growth. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20 % in toners, serums or shampoos.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone and blemish-prone skin, where it regulates excess sebum production and helps prevent spots. It is also suitable for sensitive and dehydrated skin thanks to its soothing and hydrating effects. For mature skin, it acts as an antioxidant to protect against ageing. Vanilla macerate Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride & Vanilla Planifolia Fruit & Tocopherol

Our vanilla infusion is a blend of vanilla and fractionated coconut oil (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride). Vanilla comes from tropical regions of Asia and is grown worldwide as a spice plant with fruits rich in bioactive compounds. This macerate is prepared by cold-infusing dried or fresh vanilla pods in a carrier oil, preserving its valuable B vitamins such as niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamine and riboflavin. It also contains minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, iron and zinc. It is a 100% natural organic extract without synthetic additives, obtained through a simple extraction process in which the plant material is covered with oil in a dark bottle and shaken regularly to distribute the active compounds evenly. Its antioxidant and regenerative properties are retained after filtration.

This blend has potent natural antioxidant properties that help remove toxins and dead skin cells from the skin. Its anti-ageing benefits support regeneration and hydration, helping to keep skin smoother, softer and healthier. It moisturises the skin by binding moisture and restoring the skin barrier thanks to the fatty acids in the oil. It acts as a powerful antioxidant that neutralises free radicals, soothes irritation and has a gentle exfoliating effect by removing dead cells. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help reduce inflammation through tannins and essential oils. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20%, depending on the formulation, for optimal effects without overloading the skin.

We also recommend it for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its antibacterial effects, which help regulate sebum and soothe inflammation, as well as for eczema, dermatitis and irritated skin. Suitable for all age groups seeking natural regeneration, particularly for rheumatic pain or as an ingredient in body oils and serums.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2018) showed that Vanilla planifolia extract at a concentration of 1% inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by 68% and reduces IL-6 inflammatory markers by 45% in skin cells after 24 hours of exposure. Further research in Food Chemistry (2021) reports that the vanilla antioxidants vanillin and vanillic acid at a dose of 0,5% increase superoxide dismutase activity in fibroblasts by 32%, supporting anti-ageing protection. These figures confirm clinical effectiveness for skin concerns.

Stabilized vitamin C Sodium Phosphate Ascorbyl

Vitamin C is essential for the body's biological functions and overall health. It can increase collagen production in the skin, firming it and improving the health of its surface. It speeds up skin metabolism, helping minor wounds heal and preventing pigmentation marks or age spots from forming. It is the most important vitamin for skin regeneration and protection against harmful environmental effects and free radicals, which are responsible for premature skin ageing. It occurs naturally in fruit and vegetables, such as rosehips, acerola and sea buckthorn, where it acts as a water-soluble antioxidant sensitive to heat and oxidation. In cosmetics, it is used in the form of stabilised derivatives, such as Sodium Phosphate Ascorbyl, which provides better stability and penetration into the deeper layers of the skin without irritation.

Its mechanism of action includes powerful antioxidant protection: it neutralises free radicals in the aqueous phase of cells, preventing oxidative stress and premature ageing. It stimulates the synthesis of type I and III collagen, strengthens the skin barrier and supports regeneration. It limits melanin production, brightening the complexion, and when combined with vitamin E, it offers greater stability and effectiveness against UV damage. It soothes inflammation, reduces redness and speeds up healing. The recommended concentration in serums is 10-20 %, at which it delivers optimal effects without irritation.

Ideal for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin with pigmentation marks, hyperpigmentation or signs of ageing. It is also recommended for oily and acne-prone skin, as it regulates melanin and reduces inflammation without clogging pores. Suitable for anyone exposed to environmental stressors, such as UV radiation or pollution, in combination with SPF to enhance protection. For extremely sensitive skin, it is not recommended without a patch test first.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology showed that vitamin C at a concentration of 10 %, applied for 12 weeks, improved skin hydration by 20 % and reduced fine lines by 15 % in women with photoageing. Further research in the British Journal of Dermatology demonstrated that topical vitamin C combined with vitamin E reduced UV-induced erythema by 40-60 % and increased the protection factor by up to 4 times. The stabilised form Sodium Phosphate Ascorbyl increases skin cell viability by 30 % compared with pure L-ascorbic acid.

Olive squalane Squalane (Olive) BIO

Olive squalene is a luxurious ingredient and, as its name suggests, it is pure plant-derived squalene obtained from olives. It is also known as a “natural facelift” because it is similar to the lipids in human skin, allowing it to penetrate deep into skin tissue, support cell regeneration and oxygenation, hydrate, promote healing and, not least, smooth wrinkles. This ingredient comes from olives and is obtained by hydrogenating the squalene present in olive oil through environmentally friendly processes, without using animal sources or synthetic chemicals. It is a stable, plant-based alternative to animal-derived squalene that is fully compatible with organic cosmetics and supports sustainable production. Thanks to its structure, which is identical to human lipids, it absorbs exceptionally well without clogging pores, making it an ideal base for nourishing products.

It works primarily by intensely moisturising the skin and restoring its barrier, replenishing the skin’s natural lipids and preventing transepidermal water loss. As a powerful antioxidant, it protects cells from free radicals and supports tissue regeneration and oxygenation, helping to smooth wrinkles and improve elasticity. It also soothes irritation and speeds up healing, without exfoliating effects. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 5-20 %, with 10 % significantly increasing hydration without leaving a greasy film.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it effectively combats loss of elasticity and wrinkles. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, as it is non-comedogenic and regulates the sebaceous glands without clogging pores. Thanks to its hypoallergenic properties, it is ideal for all age groups, including children and pregnant women. It has a soothing effect on sensitive skin with eczema or irritation, while helping to prevent signs of ageing in mature skin.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that olive squalene at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 45 % and improved skin barrier recovery by 30 % after 4 weeks of application in women with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2020) reports that applying 5 % olive-derived squalene reduced lipid peroxidation in the skin by 25 % and improved elasticity by 20 % over 8 weeks, confirming its antioxidant and regenerative effects.

Organic rice oil Oryza Sativa Bran Oil

Rice oil is extracted from the hard, brown outer layer of rice known as the husk. The oil has a mild, neutral taste and a light brown colour. This traditional Japanese cosmetic oil cleanses and brightens the skin and conditions the hair. It softens and brightens the skin. Rice oil is useful in treating various skin conditions, such as rubella, acne and eczema. Its properties make it an excellent choice for dry, weakened and dehydrated skin. The oil is very light and nourishes the skin without leaving it greasy. The vitamin E in rice oil speeds up wound healing, boosts cell regeneration, smooths the skin, reduces wrinkles and provides protection against sunburn. Rice oil is rich in vitamin E and antioxidants and absorbs quickly into the skin, making it particularly pleasant to use. Its main components are unsaturated fatty acids (46% oleic acid, 36% linoleic acid and 1% linolenic acid). Its combination of fatty acids, vitamins and minerals is unique. Rice oil is rich in squalene, which occurs naturally in the skin's lipids, forming a protective barrier against harmful external factors. High-quality rice oil contains high levels of the carbohydrate compound inositol, which keeps the skin supple and gives it a smooth, even texture. This oil also contains omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. It is obtained by pressing rice bran, is natural and eligible for organic certification, and contains no synthetic additives.

Its mechanism of action involves moisturising and restoring the skin barrier through squalene and unsaturated fatty acids, which mimic the skin's natural lipids. Vitamin E, gamma-oryzanol and tocotrienols provide powerful antioxidant protection against free radicals, slowing down ageing. The anti-inflammatory properties of linoleic acid soothe irritated skin and support cell regeneration. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy film, and cleanses and brightens the skin. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20% for moisturising creams and oils.

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, mature, oily and acne-prone skin, including skin affected by atopic dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis. It is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, does not clog pores and is suitable for all ages, including children. Ideal for preventing wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and UV damage.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2004) demonstrated that applying rice oil increases skin hydration by 25% after 4 weeks of daily use and improves elasticity by 18%, thanks to its gamma-oryzanol and vitamin E content. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) showed that a 10% concentration of rice oil in an emulsion reduces transepidermal water loss by 30% and strengthens the skin barrier in subjects with dry skin.

Caffeine Caffeine

Antioxidant coffee extracts help repair damaged cells and have anti-inflammatory and protective effects. Caffeine can constrict small blood vessels and reduce dark circles under the eyes. It triggers skin rehydration, counteracting excessive water retention in the skin, which has a significant effect on under-eye bags and cellulite. Caffeine is added only in amounts and combinations that do not dehydrate the skin, but instead bind excess retained water, helping to reduce swelling caused by too much water in a particular area. This natural alkaloid is obtained from plants such as coffee, tea and guarana. Synthetic forms are also available for more stable formulations, but organic coffee extracts are popular for their purity and full spectrum of antioxidants.

Caffeine acts as a powerful antioxidant, neutralising free radicals and protecting cells from oxidative stress caused by UV radiation or pollution. It stimulates blood microcirculation by constricting small blood vessels, reducing puffiness, dark circles and redness. It supports lipolysis by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, leading to the breakdown of fat in cells, making it ideal for tackling cellulite. It has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects, reducing inflammation and supporting the regeneration of damaged cells. At concentrations of 0,5-2 % in eye serums, it effectively reduces under-eye bags, while at 3-5 % in anti-cellulite creams, it improves skin firmness. Higher doses can cause irritation, so it is combined with soothing ingredients such as panthenol.

Caffeine is ideal for tired, dull, mature skin with wrinkles, dry and dehydrated skin prone to puffiness, sensitive skin with rosacea or inflammation, as well as oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. It is recommended for the eye area to tackle bags and dark circles, for the body to target cellulite and stretch marks, and for the scalp to stimulate hair growth. Avoid using it on extremely dry skin without additional moisturising products.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology showed that topical application of caffeine at a concentration of 3 % inhibits phosphodiesterase and increases lipolysis in fat cells by 25 % over 4 weeks, significantly improving the appearance of cellulite. Further research in the International Journal of Dermatology confirmed that caffeine in a 1 % solution reduces periorbital oedema by 30 % after 14 days of daily application, supporting drainage and microcirculation.

KONOMI organic Matcha Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder

The most precious of all green teas is made by grinding the finest tea leaves in a stone mill. In Japan, the most prized teas are used in formal ceremonies that aim to bring all five senses together to achieve inner harmony. Before harvesting, the leaves are shaded, which significantly increases their chlorophyll content and levels of bioactive compounds such as polyphenols and catechins. This process takes place under organic growing conditions on acidic, humus-rich soils in subtropical and tropical climates with high humidity and temperatures ranging from 10 to 30 °C, from sea level up to an altitude of 2500 m. Organic cultivation without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, with certifications such as JAS in Japan or EU BIO, ensures minimal environmental impact and higher levels of beneficial compounds compared with conventional teas.

The unique properties of Matcha powdered tea are influenced by shading before harvesting, which substantially increases the amount of chlorophyll and associated bioactive compounds in the plants. Matcha is rich in the powerful antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has excellent anticancer properties and seeks out and destroys free radicals in the body. Its ability to support the body in fighting viruses is also highly significant. It does this by blocking the enzyme 3-chymotrypsin protease (3CL), which negatively affects the cells' ability to mount an appropriate immune response following infection with a potent virus. As a cosmetic ingredient, it primarily acts as a powerful antioxidant that neutralises free radicals, soothes irritated skin with anti-inflammatory polyphenols and catechins, and supports tissue healing and skin barrier repair. Its fine molecular size gives it exfoliating properties, while its high oxygen radical absorbance capacity helps reduce wrinkles and improve elasticity. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 1-5 % for masks and exfoliators.

The polyphenols in this tea have strong anti-inflammatory effects. Catechins also significantly reduce cholesterol. Its polyphenol and catechin content is particularly important for the skin, offering powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Matcha of this quality and molecular size has the highest oxygen radical absorbance capacity of all available superfoods. It has powerful antioxidant effects on the skin, improves skin conditions, helps heal and repair skin tissue (making it suitable for scars and minor wounds), reduces wrinkle formation and restores skin elasticity and firmness. It is ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, mature and acne-prone skin, helping to reduce inflammation, hydrate and protect against ageing.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (2018) demonstrated that matcha extract at a concentration of 2 % reduced the expression of the inflammatory markers IL-6 and TNF-α by 45 % in keratinocytes exposed to UVB radiation after 24 hours. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2020) showed that EGCG from matcha at a concentration of 1 % inhibited melanin production by 32 % in melanoma cells over 72 hours, supporting an even skin tone.

IceAwake™ Succinic Acid (and) Maltodextrin (and) Aqua/Water

Origin and basic information
This ingredient is a biotechnological extract derived from a cold-tolerant bacterium isolated from soil beneath a Swiss glacier in Valais. It is an extremophile that was preserved in its natural state beneath a layer of ice for many years. The ingredient is approved in accordance with the COSMOS Standard and ECOCERT GREENLIFE, guaranteeing its natural origin and safety for cosmetic use. Biotechnological extraction processes, such as microbiological and enzymatic methods, are also permitted in the production of natural cosmetics, and this ingredient is a typical example of this kind of biotechnological innovation.

Function and mechanism of action
The ingredient acts primarily as an antioxidant and an energy booster for tired skin. Its mechanism of action is based on increasing ATP production in cells and improving chaperone expression in ageing fibroblasts. In this way, it restores the energy potential of skin cells and supports natural regeneration. It reduces muscle tension and visibly reduces wrinkle depth. A key benefit is its ability to improve skin radiance and elasticity despite stress and a lack of quality sleep.

Recommended skin types
The ingredient is particularly suitable for mature, tired and dehydrated skin showing signs of stress and fatigue. It is recommended for people prone to wrinkles who lead a hectic lifestyle, lack sleep or experience chronic stress. Its gentle, supportive action also makes it suitable for sensitive skin. The ingredient does not contain the irritating components typically found in synthetic preservatives, which can be problematic for sensitive skin.

Scientific studies and results
Clinical studies conducted on volunteers with inconsistent sleep quality and hectic lifestyles demonstrated visible rejuvenating effects after just two weeks of application. In vivo tests documented a reduction in wrinkle depth and a significant reduction in the visible signs of tiredness. In vitro analyses found increased ATP production in a cellular model of sleep deprivation and improved chaperone expression in ageing fibroblasts. These results confirm that the ingredient effectively restores the skin's energy potential and supports its natural capacity to regenerate. The ingredient received the BSB Innovation Award Cosmetics 2020.

Organic preservative compound Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Benzyl alcohol

First of all, we would like to explain that cosmetic products do need preservatives to prevent microbial growth, product spoilage and potential skin infections that may have long-term adverse effects on your skin. Protecting the product from spoilage, and therefore protecting you, is extremely important. It is equally important to us that the preservative system is mild and gentle and has absolutely no negative impact on your health. Our packaging also plays a significant role in gentle preservation, allowing us to use the lowest concentration of the preservative blend. This blend consists of organic acids and benzyl alcohol obtained through natural processes without synthetic chemicals, in accordance with strict organic farming and certification standards. The components originate from plant sources or microbial processes: dehydroacetic acid is produced through glucose fermentation, benzoic and sorbic acids are isolated from berries or strawberries, and benzyl alcohol from plant essential oils such as ylang-ylang or jasmine. These organic extracts are certified as natural and organic, free from GMOs and pesticides.

The organic preservative blend works by acidifying its environment, lowering the pH to 4-5,5, a level that inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The synergistic effect of the blend ensures broad-spectrum protection: dehydroacetic acid inhibits fungal enzymes, benzoic and sorbic acids penetrate the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupt their metabolism, while benzyl alcohol disrupts cell walls. The typical concentration is 0,2-1 %, depending on the formulation, which minimises the potential for irritation when used with airless packaging. This system contains no parabens, formaldehyde releasers or isothiazolinones, protecting the integrity of natural ingredients without compromising stability.

We recommend this blend for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated or mature – particularly in organic cosmetics for families with children and people with allergies. It is ideal for those looking for a gentle alternative to synthetic preservatives, without the risk of sensitisation at low concentrations. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirms that a blend of dehydroacetic acid (0,5 %), benzoic acid (0,3 %) and benzyl alcohol (0,2 %) achieved a 99,9 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in emulsions at pH 5,5 without affecting the product's rheology (Darr et al., 2014). Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2009) showed that sorbic acid used in combination (0,1 %) produced a 4 log reduction in Aspergillus niger within 7 days.

Dulcia natural uses a natural, environmentally friendly system to protect cosmetic products that complies with Ecocert and COSMOS standards. It has been developed to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination. It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection using optimised, innovative synergistic blends, with environmental responsibility and sustainable development in mind. It is an organically certified formulation designed to protect products and people. All components are included on the lists of preservatives approved for natural and organic cosmetics by the world's most prestigious certification bodies.

Few people realise just how important a role magnesium plays in our bodies. Magnesium is by far the most important mineral in our body. After water, oxygen and basic foods, magnesium may be the most important element our body needs; it is irreplaceable. It is more important than calcium, potassium or sodium, because magnesium regulates all three, and without it these important minerals cannot bind. Millions of people are deficient in magnesium without knowing it. Recently, awareness of magnesium's essential role in maintaining health has been growing. Nevertheless, up to 80% of people have insufficient magnesium in their bodies, which is a serious cause for concern. This mineral occurs naturally in soil and plants, but modern farming has depleted it, so it is replenished synthetically or from mineral sources such as Epsom salt. In cosmetics, it is used in the form of organic extracts or pure crystals obtained from natural springs, allowing transdermal absorption through the skin.

Magnesium is present in the body in relatively large amounts. Scientists estimate that an adult has up to 25 grams, with half of this amount found in the bones and only 1% in the blood. This mineral needs to be replenished continually, as more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body depend on it. Every cell in our body, including brain cells, needs magnesium. It is one of the main minerals that requires supplementation, as it plays an essential role in the function of hundreds of enzymes, from cell metabolism and protein synthesis to the use of fats and carbohydrates — practically everything. Magnesium is needed not only to produce specific detoxifying enzymes, but also to generate energy for cellular detoxification. In cosmetics, it acts as a humectant that hydrates the skin and strengthens its protective barrier, an antioxidant rich in sulphates that detoxify and protect against free radicals, an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, and a soothing anti-inflammatory agent. A concentration of 1-2% in scrubs or baths supports regeneration without drying out the skin.

The role of magnesium in the body. Magnesium mainly performs the following functions in our bodies: metabolism of calcium, silicon, vitamin D and vitamin K, activation of muscles and nerves, energy production, detoxification, digestion of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, acting as a building block in the formation and synthesis of RNA and DNA, and as a precursor to neurotransmitters such as serotonin. These properties make magnesium ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin, where it restores hydration and elasticity. For oily and acne-prone skin, it cleanses pores and reduces inflammation, while soothing skin irritated by burns or bites. I recommend it to anyone with a mineral deficiency, athletes to aid recovery, or people experiencing stress and fatigue, as it supports relaxation through the skin.

Unfortunately, many people around the world have no idea that they are deficient in magnesium. Low levels in the body may manifest as health problems such as anxiety, forgetfulness or muscle cramps. Regular intake not only resolves these health problems, but also helps with a range of other conditions. According to a study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (2017), transdermal application of magnesium sulphate at a concentration of 1% increased serum magnesium levels by 12% after 12 days of bathing and reduced inflammatory markers by 25% (compared with a placebo). Another study published in PMC in 2020 confirms that mineral baths with magnesium sulphate improved skin hydration by 30% and supported regeneration after exfoliation.

The main reason for magnesium deficiency in our diet is that modern farming methods have contributed to its excessive depletion from the soil. Naturally, it is then also absent from crops grown in such soil. The frequent use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides makes the problem even worse. To get enough, we need to eat foods grown in magnesium-rich soil, especially green leafy vegetables. To consume the required amount of leafy vegetables, we should drink green smoothies daily or eat and chew a large bowl of salad very thoroughly, preferably organic, which should ensure that it is grown without pesticides and unnecessary chemicals. Taking food supplements containing magnesium is another option. It is also advisable for supplements to contain calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K2 alongside magnesium, as these substances complement one another and one cannot be metabolised without the others being present. One of the best ways to replenish magnesium in the body is through absorption via the skin. Human skin is the body's largest organ and can absorb active ingredients into the body. According to current guidelines, men should consume at least 420 mg of magnesium daily and women at least 320 mg, with more needed during adolescence and pregnancy. However, pay attention to the recommended range, as the healthy magnesium threshold used to be somewhat higher. The more unwell we become, the lower the range gets. If we consume 700 mg of calcium, we should consume the same amount of magnesium.

How can you get more magnesium into your body? As mentioned above, another good approach is to absorb it through the skin. Examples include baths or scrubs with added Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate). Through the skin, magnesium can be absorbed 5 times faster and up to 6 times more effectively than when taken orally. The body only ever absorbs what it needs, so there is no risk of overdose.

Silica Silica

Purity 100%. Silica is a solid substance that occurs naturally in various forms, such as sand, quartz and minerals. Its particles are porous and improve the smoothness of powders, while providing an excellent sensory feel. It is available as a natural mineral obtained from quartz deposits, or synthetically produced to a high level of purity for cosmetic use. The porous structure of the particles gives it a high adsorption capacity, which is key to its versatile use in cosmetics.

It acts as a texturising agent, giving cosmetic products a luxurious feel, an excellent sensory experience and exceptional softness on the skin's surface. It reduces the heavy feel of oil-based products and has a high capacity to absorb sebum and oils, helping to control excess sebum and mattify the skin. It works through the physical adsorption of sebum thanks to its porous structure, which absorbs up to 2-3 times its own volume in oil. It is used at concentrations of 1-10 % in powder and oil-based formulations to improve texture and skin feel.

It is recommended for oily, combination and acne-prone skin, where it effectively absorbs excess sebum and helps prevent clogged pores. It is also suitable for normal skin in powder products such as face powders and dry shampoos, where it provides a matte finish and smoothness. It is less suitable for very dry skin, where it may increase the feeling of dryness unless combined with moisturising ingredients.

In a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015), silica at a concentration of 5 % in powder formulations reduced the visibility of pores by 25 % and improved skin mattness by 40 % after 4 weeks of application to oily skin. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2008) confirmed that porous silica absorbs 2,5 times more sebum than regular starch, significantly prolonging the matte effect of make-up.

Dermofeel® PA Phytic Acid (and) Aqua

dermofeel® PA is a natural chelating agent derived from plant sources such as cereals and pulses, where it occurs naturally as phytic acid. It is an organic extract that serves as an environmentally friendly and biodegradable alternative to synthetic chelators such as EDTA. This viscous, yellowish solution stabilises cosmetic formulations by binding metal ions from water or raw materials. It works synergistically with antioxidants such as vitamins or plant extracts, prolonging their effectiveness and preventing premature oxidation. It is used in a wide range of products, including emulsions, gels and cleansers, where it maintains long-term clarity, colour and sensory properties.

Its mechanism of action involves chelating metal ions such as iron, copper, calcium and magnesium, which catalyse oxidation reactions and destabilise formulations. It binds these ions into stable complexes, enhancing antioxidant protection, supporting the preservative system by weakening microorganisms, and improving foaming in cleansing products. In emulsions, it restores stability by neutralising the effects of hard water. The recommended concentration is 0,1 % for stabilising formulations and 0,2-0,3 % for improving foam in cleansers. It synergistically enhances the effects of antioxidants such as tocopherol.

Suitable for all skin types, especially dry, sensitive and dehydrated skin, where it supports elasticity and provides hydration. It is recommended for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its pore-normalising and brightening effects. It is ideal for mature skin thanks to its antioxidant protection. Also suitable for haircare products used in hard water. Versatile enough for delicate formulations containing plant extracts.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that phytic acid at a concentration of 0,2 % reduced the oxidative degradation of vitamin C in an emulsion by 45 % after 12 weeks of storage at 40 °C. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2021) confirmed that phytic acid at a concentration of 0,1 % chelated 98 % of copper and iron ions in a model cosmetic formulation, extending stability by 30 %.

Small packaging with maximum protection

When choosing packaging for LucyLab samples, we weren’t looking for a smaller version of the standard pack. We needed packaging that could keep a small amount of cosmetics in the best possible condition until it was opened. That’s why we use single-use cosmetic sachets with a volume of 2–5 ml, made from high-barrier, three-layer PET / ALU / PE laminate.

Three layers, each with its own purpose

The packaging consists of 12 µm PET / 9 µm aluminium foil / 75 µm PE, with a surface weight of approximately 114 g/m². PET gives the pack strength and dimensional stability, PE forms a flexible inner layer suitable for reliable heat sealing, and the aluminium foil provides the key barrier. It blocks light and UV radiation and effectively protects the contents from oxygen and moisture. For sensitive cosmetic formulations, the sachet is a small protective vault.

One dose. One opening.

Each cosmetic sachet is hermetically sealed and intended for single use. The product remains untouched by fingers and the outside environment until opened. Once open, simply squeeze the required amount directly into your palm or onto your skin. The result is easy, clean and hygienic application without a dispenser or additional components.

The ideal way to try LucyLab

The 2–5 ml volume is practical as a sample of face cream, serum or another cosmetic product. The sachet is exceptionally light and flat and takes up very little space, so you can keep it in your handbag, wash bag or hand luggage.

Minimum material, maximum performance

Multi-layer PET/ALU/PE laminate provides exceptional protection while keeping packaging weight very low. As the individual layers are firmly bonded together, this type of laminate cannot currently be easily recycled in most standard recycling systems. Its environmental benefit lies mainly in its efficient use of materials and low weight. PET, aluminium and PE are among the materials also used in packaging assessed according to COSMOS and ECOCERT principles; COSMOS also takes multi-layer materials and free sample packaging into particular consideration.

LucyLab – protecting the formula until first opening

The packaging is manufactured at facilities certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 14064-1. For LucyLab, however, what matters most is the result: a premium look, high barrier protection, hygienic single-use application and a practical format that lets you experience the product exactly as we created it.

Is it suitable to apply Matcha booster serum to your skin in the evening too, so it can work overnight? Or is it only suitable for mornings?

Je vhodné sérum Matcha booster naniesť na pleť aj večer, aby pôsobilo cez noc? Alebo je vhodné len na ráno?

Tatiana Translated from SK

Dear Tatiana,

Yes, you can use the Matcha booster in the evening as well as in the morning. Simply apply a few drops to cleansed skin in the morning or evening.

You can leave it on overnight, ideally on cleansed and toned skin. Afterwards, you can follow with a moisturiser or oil, as needed.

In the morning, it also makes a lovely brightening and antioxidant step in your daily routine. We recommend following with a day cream and SPF protection.

Have a lovely day,

Hello, I’d like to ask whether the formula for Matcha Booster has changed. This time it’s much more runny than the previous bottles I’ve had. Thank you, Monika

Dobry den, tymto by som sa rada spytala, ci sa menilo zlozenie pre Matcha booster. Tentokrat je viac tekutejsie nez som mala predchadzajuce balenia. Dakujem Monika

Hello, I’ve really grown to love this serum – in a word, it’s amazing. I was wondering whether I can use it in summer too, as it contains vitamin C. I’ve read in some articles online that using it in summer can cause pigmentation spots. Of course, I use an SPF cream after the serum. Thank you for your reply and have a lovely day.

Lucia Translated from SK

A lovely good day to you,

Thank you for your question; we really appreciate it.
Vitamin C is fantastic for summer. It protects our cells from oxidation caused by the sun too – it’s a very powerful antioxidant. This serum also contains vitamin E, which is another powerful antioxidant, so together they provide very strong antioxidant protection for the skin.
Our Lucka is writing an article about this, so here’s a little extract :)

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

  • Neutralises free radicals in the aqueous phase of cells
  • Supports collagen synthesis – improving the skin’s firmness and elasticity
  • Slows down melanin production – effectively helping to reduce pigmentation spots
  • Restores oxidised vitamin E, reactivating it

How antioxidants help – their mechanism of action

Antioxidants are like the skin’s protective guards – their main role is to neutralise free radicals before they cause damage.

How antioxidant protection works:

a) Donating electrons

Antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and resveratrol can donate an electron to a free radical, stabilising it – without becoming reactive themselves.

This keeps the skin undamaged and the cells protected, helping to prevent premature ageing.

b) Chelation of metals

Some antioxidants (such as ferulic acid) can bind heavy metals (iron, copper), which would otherwise increase the production of free radicals. This helps reduce oxidative stress.

c) Stimulating the body’s own defence mechanisms

Some antioxidants support the body’s own antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD). This means that, as well as acting directly, they also strengthen the skin’s natural defences.

If you have any other questions, we’re here for you. Have a lovely day
Kind regards

Krásny dobrý deň,

Ďakujeme za Vašu otázočku, vážime si to.
Vitamín C je práve na leto fantastický. Chráni totiž naše bunky pred oxidáciou aj zo slnka - je to veľmi silný antioxidant. Toto sérum tiež obsahuje aj vitam. E a to je tiež silný antioxidant čim si veľmi napomáhajú k veľmi silnej antioxidačnej činnosti v pokožke.
Práve o tom naša Lucka píše článok, tak preposielame kúsok :)

Vitamín C (kyselina askorbová)

  • Neutralizuje voľné radikály v vodnej fáze buniek
  • Podporuje syntézu kolagénu – tým zlepšuje pevnosť a pružnosť pleti

a) Darovanie elektrónov
