Rejuvenated skin without wrinkles or pigmentation

An intensive exfoliant that effectively targets wrinkles, pigmentation, visible pores and a dull complexion. It combines a high 12% concentration of glycolic acid with perfectly rounded jojoba beads to renew the skin’s surface with a dual action. Glycolic acid softens wrinkles and uneven pigmentation and loosens the bonds between dead skin cells, while jojoba beads physically remove dead cells with a gentle massage. A low pH supports the acid’s effectiveness, while BIO aloe vera and oat lipid oil help keep skin comfortable. After just 1-2 minutes, skin is thoroughly exfoliated, smooth, fresh and visibly brighter, with pores appearing finer and skin tone more even.

What the exfoliant targets

  • Pigmentation: helps remove surface cells containing an accumulation of unwanted pigment. Glycolic acid helps brighten dull skin, soften the appearance of pigmentation and restore a more even tone.
  • Wrinkles and fine lines: intensive exfoliation smooths the skin’s surface and helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Oat lipid oil, BIO aloe vera and glycerin also help support hydration, suppleness and skin comfort.
  • Enlarged pores and rough skin texture: removes dead skin cells that accentuate pores and make the skin feel rough. Glycolic acid loosens the cells, while jojoba beads physically remove them during massage. Skin is left smoother, with cleaner-looking, finer pores.

Who it’s for

This glycolic acid chemical exfoliant is suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin. We do not recommend it for sensitive skin. It is particularly suited to:

  • skin with wrinkles and fine lines,
  • skin with pigmentation,
  • tired and stressed skin,
  • combination to blemish-prone skin,
  • skin with enlarged pores.

Key ingredients

  • 12% glycolic acid: an effective AHA acid that loosens the bonds between dead skin cells and helps remove them from the skin’s surface. It helps smooth rough texture, brighten the complexion and even out skin tone. In a 22-week randomised controlled study involving 74 women, up to 76% of participants saw a reduction in wrinkles.
  • Jojoba beads: perfectly rounded particles made from jojoba esters that physically remove loosened dead skin cells and smooth the skin’s surface. Their spherical shape ensures more even, gentle exfoliation.
  • Caffeine: an antioxidant that helps protect skin cells from oxidative stress and premature ageing. A laboratory study showed that caffeine reduced cell damage and signs of ageing.
  • BIO aloe vera juice: forms the hydrating base of the formula and helps keep skin soft and soothed after exfoliation. In a clinical study involving 20 people, it increased the water content of the outermost layer of the skin after just one use.
  • Oat lipid oil: an oil rich in linoleic acid and naturally occurring oat lipids that nourishes the skin and supports its protective barrier. In a laboratory study, oat lipids supported skin renewal processes and increased ceramide levels by 70%.

The formula also contains BIO macadamia oil, lightweight fractionated coconut oil and glycerin, which binds water.

Texture

A light, gently whipped cream with a bright white colour, a fresh, clean scent and jojoba beads.

How to use

Apply a generous layer to cleansed skin using gentle movements, avoiding the eye area. Massage the skin in small circles, leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water. Use the exfoliant in the evening. Follow with your favourite skincare products. After use, avoid exposing your skin to sunlight or use a sufficiently high SPF.

Warning: This product contains glycolic acid. Before first use, carry out a patch test on a small area of skin, such as your forearm. Apply a small amount and monitor the reaction. If you have not used products with AHA acids before, start with a shorter application time and gradually increase it. Mild tingling and redness are common signs of exfoliation.

Organic aloe vera juice Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice BIO

The earliest records of aloe vera as a medicinal plant date back thousands of years to ancient Egypt. Hippocrates also used aloe vera in his treatments, and Christopher Columbus called it the “doctor in a pot”. Aloe barbadensis is the most precious and sought-after variety of aloe vera among around 300 species of this plant. Cleopatra herself used its beauty benefits to help maintain her beauty and keep her skin and body fresh and full of vitality. Aloe vera is a source of a wide range of vital elements, including vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chlorine, as well as manganese, copper, zinc and chromium), amino acids (aloe vera contains as many as eight essential amino acids), and even enzymes, lectins and saponins – active substances that act against viruses, bacteria, fungi and infections. “Cleansing” lignin allows substances to penetrate deep into the skin. Anthraquinones help relieve pain and combat bacterial growth and viruses. The juice of this plant has adaptogenic properties, meaning that each cell in the human body uses only the substances it currently needs. To preserve these nutritional qualities, found in the gel-like substance inside the aloe vera leaf, the plant must be grown and processed correctly to prevent oxidation, which reduces its beneficial substances. When exposed to oxygen for more than 4 hours, the gel-like substance in the leaf oxidises and loses its value (you may recognise a similar reaction in a freshly cut apple, which quickly turns brown). Aloe must be stabilised. Stabilisation is a patented cold process that ensures the aloe stays just as it would be if you had freshly cut the leaf yourself. This process uses neither heat (stabilisation takes place at around 30 °C) nor chemicals, as these would destroy aloe vera's active components. Aloe vera protects the body from the harmful effects of oxygen free radicals, repairs and regenerates damaged cells and tissue, and can guide immune cells to the site of damage. Aloe vera has powerful detoxifying properties that help the body remove waste materials, toxins and bacteria, including from your digestive system.

Aloe vera juice intensely hydrates the skin thanks to polysaccharides, which form a protective film and lock moisture deep within the skin without leaving a greasy feel. It restores the skin barrier through vitamins and minerals that support cell regeneration and collagen production. As an antioxidant, it protects vitamins C, E and beta-carotene from free radicals, slowing skin ageing. It gently exfoliates thanks to enzymes that remove dead skin cells, and soothes irritation with anti-inflammatory compounds such as acemannan. Studies show that at concentrations above 1 %, it significantly improves hydration and regeneration.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. Ideal for reactive skin after sun exposure, shaving or treatments, where it soothes redness. For acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and cleanses pores without clogging them. For mature skin, it supports elasticity and reduces wrinkles.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2009) showed that aloe vera gel at a concentration of 0,5 % accelerated wound healing by 72 % compared with the control group after 12 days. Another study in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology (2014) showed that aloe vera at a concentration of 1 % increased collagen synthesis by 25 % in a culture of human fibroblasts.

Glycolic acid Glycolic acid

An alpha-hydroxy acid, more commonly known as an AHA. It is isolated from natural sources, mainly sugar cane and sugar beet, as well as pineapple or grapes. It is an exceptionally potent active ingredient. As well as being obtained from natural sources, it can be produced synthetically for greater purity and stability, which is common in cosmetic manufacturing. Organic cosmetics favour extracts from certified plant sources, such as sugar cane, which offers an environmentally friendly alternative without chemical additives. This substance is one of the smallest AHAs, allowing it to act effectively on the skin.

It has a very low molecular weight, so it not only "works" on the skin's surface, where it removes the hardened layer of dead skin cells, but also penetrates the skin easily, influencing functions across all its layers. This delivers quick, visible results. It exfoliates by removing dead cells, hydrates by helping the skin retain moisture, restores the skin barrier by stimulating cell renewal, and acts as an antioxidant against free radicals. It soothes irritated skin and regulates sebum production. Recommended concentrations are 5-10 % for home care, with higher concentrations of 20-70 % for supervised professional peels.

It brightens the skin and prevents melanin from clustering, helping to prevent unwanted pigmentation. It unclogs pores and clears excess sebum, preventing the overgrowth of bacteria within the pores and reducing acne and blackheads. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping to reduce lines and wrinkles. It softens the skin, giving it a healthier appearance and improving its overall texture. It creates a funnel-like pathway in the skin, helping active ingredients penetrate significantly better. Ideal for dry, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin, especially for those with hyperpigmentation or rough skin texture. On sensitive skin, use with caution and increase the concentration gradually.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (2002) demonstrated that daily application of 8 % glycolic acid for 22 weeks led to a 19 % improvement in skin smoothness and a 25 % reduction in the length of fine lines in women with photoaged skin. Further research in the British Journal of Dermatology (1996) showed that a 12 % concentration increased collagen synthesis in the dermal layer by 14,6 % after 6 months, as measured histologically.

Fractionated coconut oil Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (from Cocos Nucifera Oil)

Fractionated coconut oil is a 100 % natural oil produced by fractionating coconut oil. This process separates the oil into individual types of fatty acids. It remains liquid and is colourless and odourless. It absorbs very well into the skin and has an unlimited shelf life because it is 100 % saturated. It is a ‘dry’ oil, rich in fatty acids and moisturising components. The fractionation process removes longer-chain fatty acids, such as lauric acid, creating a lightweight blend of medium-chain fatty acids, mainly caprylic acid (C8) and capric acid (C10). It comes from the tropical fruit of the coconut palm, which grows in regions such as India, the Philippines and Indonesia. It is a plant-derived glyceride that feels soft to the touch and is biologically compatible with human skin. Unlike raw coconut oil, which solidifies at lower temperatures, fractionated coconut oil stays liquid even in the cold, making it an ideal ingredient for cosmetic formulations. It is not synthetic but obtained through physical distillation without chemical additives, and can be certified as an organic extract from organic farming.

A plant-derived glyceride with a very soft feel. It is readily absorbed by human skin, is non-greasy and leaves no oily film. It acts as an emollient, moisturising the skin by reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and restoring the lipid barrier. It softens, smooths and conditions the skin. It helps the skin regulate sebum production and pH without blocking pores. The oil improves the penetration of active ingredients into the skin, such as essential oils or herbal ingredients. It acts as a solvent for oil-soluble active ingredients (maceration). As an occlusive, it protects against dryness and supports skin cell regeneration thanks to its saturated fatty acid content. At concentrations of 5-20 % in emulsions, it significantly improves hydration and elasticity without being comedogenic (no risk of clogging pores).

Recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it provides effective hydration without feeling heavy. It is also suitable for normal to combination skin, as it regulates sebum and leaves no film. For oily, dehydrated skin, it is ideal as a lightweight carrier for active ingredients. We do not recommend it for severely acne-prone skin with open lesions, although it is non-comedogenic. Its gentle texture makes it excellent for all ages, especially children, and for atopic skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) demonstrated that Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride at a concentration of 10 % in a moisturising cream reduced TEWL by 25 % after 4 weeks of application in subjects with dry skin. Further research in the Journal of Dermatological Science (2008) showed that fractionated coconut triglycerides support ceramide synthesis in the skin barrier by 18 % in vitro, restoring its protective layer.

Jojoba beads Jojoba esters

Jojoba beads are a natural cosmetic ingredient derived from Simmondsia chinensis, a plant that grows in the desert regions of Southern California, Arizona and northern Mexico. They are modified jojoba oil esters produced through hydrogenation and transesterification. Their stability and natural properties have made these esters a popular base in modern natural cosmetics. The jojoba plant is highly drought-resistant and requires very little water to grow, making jojoba beads a sustainable and environmentally friendly raw material.

The primary role of jojoba beads is to soften and deeply moisturise the skin. Their molecular structure is similar to human sebum, allowing them to penetrate the skin naturally and form a protective barrier that prevents moisture loss. Jojoba esters also have antioxidant properties thanks to their tocopherol (vitamin E) content, which protects the skin against free radicals and environmental stressors. A study published in Cosmetics and Toiletries showed that a single application of a formulation containing jojoba esters rapidly increased skin hydration within 30 minutes, and this benefit persisted after 24 hours compared with untreated areas. Their anti-inflammatory properties also help soothe irritation and redness.

Jojoba beads are suitable for various skin types, particularly dry, sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin. They are especially beneficial for people with eczema, rosacea or psoriasis. A notable advantage is that, despite their oily nature, they regulate sebum production, making them suitable for oily and acne-prone skin too. Their non-comedogenic nature means they do not clog pores. They are also gentle and safe enough for sensitive skin, including for people with skin problems caused by cancer treatment.

In the cosmetics industry, jojoba beads are often used as exfoliating granules, particularly in their hydrogenated forms. They are also found in moisturisers, serums, lip balms, cleansers, shampoos and conditioners. Their use in bath products and scrubs improves the product's texture and provides a luxurious feel during application.

Olivem®1000 Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate

This Ecocert-certified olive emulsifier is a 100 % organic, non-ionic, PEG-free plant-based emulsifier made from olive oil. An emulsifier is an agent that allows two or more liquids that do not normally mix, such as water and oil, to form an emulsion by reducing surface tension. It has excellent moisturising properties and helps soften the skin. It reduces moisture loss and is hypoallergenic. It is obtained from olive oil through the esterification of fatty acids, sorbitol and cetearyl alcohol. Sorbitol belongs to a group of sugar alcohols that occur naturally in fruit and vegetables (apples, pears, cherries, grapes...). It is a natural sweetener. Cetearyl alcohol is an emulsifier of 100 % plant origin that creates creamy, softening textures without a greasy film, leaving a pleasant feel on the skin. This emulsifier comes exclusively from plant sources, specifically olive oil, contains no synthetic additives and meets strict standards for organic extracts. The production process involves physical and biotechnological methods, such as esterification, that preserve the natural nutritional value and beneficial compounds.

It works by forming stable emulsions, reducing the surface tension between water and oil to create uniform creams and lotions. Its olive fatty acid content provides intensive moisture, restores the skin's lipid barrier by mimicking its natural structure and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Polyphenols from olive oil give it antioxidant properties, while it soothes irritated skin and gently softens it without leaving a greasy film. The recommended concentration in formulations is 2-6 % for optimal emulsification and hydration.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it effectively restores the barrier and retains moisture. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its non-comedogenic composition and light texture, which does not clog pores. Ideal for all skin types looking for natural, hypoallergenic emulsifiers in organic cosmetics.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that olive ester-based emulsifiers at a concentration of 4 % reduced TEWL by 28 % after 4 weeks of application to dry skin and improved hydration by 35 % (compared with the control). Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate at a concentration of 3-5 % increase skin elasticity by 22 % and support skin barrier repair in individuals with atopic dermatitis.

Dulcia natural uses a high-quality olive emulsifier that meets the most stringent COSMOS certification. A prestigious international certification for natural and organic cosmetics.

Glycerin Glycerin

Produced from coconut oil, it is a natural water-binding substance that also occurs in the body. Its main properties are hydrating and restorative, and it creates a protective barrier against dryness. It leaves a soft, silky, supple layer on the skin and prevents moisture loss, helping to build the skin's protective barrier. Its concentration in the finished product is important. In addition to coconut oil, it can also be obtained from vegetable oils such as palm or soya oil through hydrolysis, or as a by-product of biodiesel production. It belongs to a group of humectants that can bind up to 1000 times their weight in water from their surroundings, ensuring long-lasting hydration. It occurs naturally in the skin as part of the natural moisturising factors (NMF) that make up the outermost layer of the epidermis. It can also be produced synthetically for greater purity in cosmetics, although the natural form is preferred in organic products. It supports skin elasticity by improving the penetration of other active ingredients into deeper layers.

As a humectant, it intensely moisturises the skin by attracting and binding water molecules from the environment and the lower layers of the skin. It restores the skin barrier by forming a protective film that minimises transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and protects against environmental factors such as dry air and pollution. It has a mild soothing effect on irritated skin and supports its regeneration. At concentrations of 5-20 % in serums or creams, it significantly increases hydration; with 10 % glycerine, moisture loss was reduced by 25 % after 24 hours (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). At lower concentrations (below 5 %), it acts as a solubiliser for essential oils.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it prevents wrinkles caused by dehydration. At low concentrations, it is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, as it does not leave a greasy film and regulates hydration without clogging pores. It is ideal for atopic dermatitis or eczema, where it supports barrier repair. During the winter months or in dry environments, it is invaluable for all skin types, especially for children and older people with thin skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that a 20 % glycerine solution increased skin hydration by 40 % after 7 days of application in women with dry skin. Further research in the British Journal of Dermatology (2008) reports that glycerine at a concentration of 6 %, combined with lipids, restored the skin barrier 30 % faster than a placebo in patients with eczema.

HallStar® Cetyl Alcohol Cetyl Alcohol

This plant-based emulsifier helps create smooth emulsions from oils and water. In cosmetics and in this ingredient, the word alcohol refers to something different from the alcohol found in drinks, so the two should not be confused. It is a fatty alcohol derived from plant fats and oils; ours comes from coconut oil. Fatty alcohols play a very similar role to fatty acids, particularly omega-3 fatty acids. It has excellent moisturising, softening and hydrating properties. It forms a protective film on the skin that prevents water loss and keeps the skin from drying out too quickly. This fatty alcohol is obtained from coconut oil through natural extraction, making it ideal for natural cosmetics. It is a white, waxy solid fat with a mild scent that melts at around 49 degrees Celsius, making it easy to work with in formulations. Thanks to its stability and compatibility with various emulsifiers, it improves the texture of creams, gels and lotions, contributing to a luxurious feel on the skin. Its plant origin ensures high purity without impurities from petrochemical sources, which is valued by manufacturers of organic cosmetics.

Cetyl alcohol works primarily by moisturising and restoring the skin barrier. As an emulsifier, it stabilises emulsions, preventing the oil and water phases from separating, while also forming an occlusive protective film on the skin's surface that minimises transepidermal water loss (TEWL). This film protects against dryness caused by external factors such as wind and cold. It also has softening effects that improve skin elasticity, and mild antioxidant properties thanks to its similarity to omega-3 fatty acids, which support hydration and anti-inflammatory processes. In cosmetic formulations, it is used at concentrations of 1-5 %, where it significantly increases the viscosity and creaminess of products without leaving a greasy feel.

We recommend cetyl alcohol for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it helps combat moisture loss and supports barrier repair. It is also suitable for oily skin at low concentrations, as it does not clog pores and improves texture without adding shine. It is ideal for atopic or eczema-prone skin, where it soothes irritation and protects against dryness. In haircare, it is valued for restoring smoothness to dry, brittle hair.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2004) showed that cetyl alcohol at concentrations of 2-4 % reduced transepidermal water loss by 25 % after 4 weeks of application to dry skin, significantly improving hydration and elasticity. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) confirmed that, in combination with emulsifiers, it increases emulsion stability and supports lipid barrier repair by 30 % in people with impaired skin function.

Macadamia oil Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil BIO

The oil is extracted from macadamia nuts and is very rich in high-quality fatty acids, particularly omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, oleic, linolenic, linoleic and palmitoleic acids. It contains vitamins A, E and B, phosphorus, calcium, iron and zinc. It is a powerful antioxidant that prevents damage to cell membranes. Its composition is very similar to the skin's natural oils, so it does not irritate the skin and is also suitable for very sensitive skin and children's skin. This plant oil comes from the nuts of the Macadamia ternifolia tree, which grows in Australia and Oceania, where it is cold-pressed to preserve its bioactive compounds. Thanks to its high stability, it is used in organic cosmetics as a pure extract without chemical additives, supporting the skin's natural protection against environmental factors.

It absorbs easily without leaving a greasy film on the skin. Its combination of unsaturated fatty acids and zinc makes it excellent for softening the skin and highly effective for ageing skin. It can help with the healing of skin conditions and burns and has regenerative properties. This precious oil also protects against the effects of harmful substances and UV radiation. It works by moisturising and restoring the skin's lipid barrier thanks to palmitoleic acid (up to 20-25 %), which mimics the skin's sebum. As an antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals through vitamin E and polyphenols, soothes irritation and supports cell regeneration. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20 % for hydrating serums and creams.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive, mature and acne-prone skin, where it strengthens the barrier without clogging pores. Its gentle texture also makes it suitable for children's skin and skin prone to eczema. At low concentrations, it regulates sebum production in oily skin. A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) showed that macadamia oil at a concentration of 10 % increased skin hydration by 28 % after 4 weeks of application and improved elasticity by 15 % in women with dry skin. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) confirmed that palmitoleic acid from the oil supports collagen synthesis and protects against UVB damage, reducing inflammatory markers by 22 %.

Caffeine Caffeine

Antioxidant coffee extracts help repair damaged cells and have anti-inflammatory and protective effects. Caffeine can constrict small blood vessels and reduce dark circles under the eyes. It triggers skin rehydration, counteracting excessive water retention in the skin, which has a significant effect on under-eye bags and cellulite. Caffeine is added only in amounts and combinations that do not dehydrate the skin, but instead bind excess retained water, helping to reduce swelling caused by too much water in a particular area. This natural alkaloid is obtained from plants such as coffee, tea and guarana. Synthetic forms are also available for more stable formulations, but organic coffee extracts are popular for their purity and full spectrum of antioxidants.

Caffeine acts as a powerful antioxidant, neutralising free radicals and protecting cells from oxidative stress caused by UV radiation or pollution. It stimulates blood microcirculation by constricting small blood vessels, reducing puffiness, dark circles and redness. It supports lipolysis by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, leading to the breakdown of fat in cells, making it ideal for tackling cellulite. It has anti-inflammatory and soothing effects, reducing inflammation and supporting the regeneration of damaged cells. At concentrations of 0,5-2 % in eye serums, it effectively reduces under-eye bags, while at 3-5 % in anti-cellulite creams, it improves skin firmness. Higher doses can cause irritation, so it is combined with soothing ingredients such as panthenol.

Caffeine is ideal for tired, dull, mature skin with wrinkles, dry and dehydrated skin prone to puffiness, sensitive skin with rosacea or inflammation, as well as oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. It is recommended for the eye area to tackle bags and dark circles, for the body to target cellulite and stretch marks, and for the scalp to stimulate hair growth. Avoid using it on extremely dry skin without additional moisturising products.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology showed that topical application of caffeine at a concentration of 3 % inhibits phosphodiesterase and increases lipolysis in fat cells by 25 % over 4 weeks, significantly improving the appearance of cellulite. Further research in the International Journal of Dermatology confirmed that caffeine in a 1 % solution reduces periorbital oedema by 30 % after 14 days of daily application, supporting drainage and microcirculation.

Oat Lipid e Avena Sativa Kernel Oil

Description

This natural oil is extracted from oat kernels (Avena sativa) and is a bioactive ingredient rich in essential plant-derived lipids. Its distinctive composition closely resembles the natural lipids in human skin. The oil contains a high concentration of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that is a key component of the skin's moisture barrier. It is also a source of powerful antioxidants, including vitamin E in the form of tocopherols and tocotrienols, which protect the skin's lipids from deterioration caused by oxidative stress. The ingredient has a low viscosity, allowing it to absorb quickly without leaving a greasy film on the skin's surface.

Function

Oat lipid oil works in several ways. Primarily, it moisturises the skin and restores its natural lipid barrier thanks to its high linoleic acid content, which is essential for retaining water in the epidermis. Another important benefit is antioxidant protection: vitamin E and other antioxidants neutralise free radicals that cause premature skin ageing and damage. The oil also supports the skin's own production of ceramides, natural lipids that are essential for maintaining the integrity of the skin barrier. Thanks to its regenerating properties and ready absorption, it helps repair the skin without leaving it feeling greasy.

Recommendations

Oat lipid oil is ideally suited to dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin. It is particularly recommended for skin with a compromised barrier that needs intensive regeneration and care. It is also recommended for skin affected by atopic dermatitis or sensitive to external factors. It is suitable for mature skin too, helping to reduce the signs of ageing and restore elasticity. Its natural origin and high tolerability make it a safe choice even for very sensitive and reactive skin types.

Scientific evidence

The effectiveness of linoleic acid in restoring the skin barrier has long been documented in scientific literature. Studies confirm that the linoleic acid in oat oil significantly improves cohesion in the stratum corneum and helps the skin retain moisture by reducing transepidermal water loss. As an antioxidant, vitamin E reduces oxidative stress and supports the skin's natural regeneration processes at a cellular level.

Organic preservative compound Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Benzyl alcohol

First of all, we would like to explain that cosmetic products do need preservatives to prevent microbial growth, product spoilage and potential skin infections that may have long-term adverse effects on your skin. Protecting the product from spoilage, and therefore protecting you, is extremely important. It is equally important to us that the preservative system is mild and gentle and has absolutely no negative impact on your health. Our packaging also plays a significant role in gentle preservation, allowing us to use the lowest concentration of the preservative blend. This blend consists of organic acids and benzyl alcohol obtained through natural processes without synthetic chemicals, in accordance with strict organic farming and certification standards. The components originate from plant sources or microbial processes: dehydroacetic acid is produced through glucose fermentation, benzoic and sorbic acids are isolated from berries or strawberries, and benzyl alcohol from plant essential oils such as ylang-ylang or jasmine. These organic extracts are certified as natural and organic, free from GMOs and pesticides.

The organic preservative blend works by acidifying its environment, lowering the pH to 4-5,5, a level that inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The synergistic effect of the blend ensures broad-spectrum protection: dehydroacetic acid inhibits fungal enzymes, benzoic and sorbic acids penetrate the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupt their metabolism, while benzyl alcohol disrupts cell walls. The typical concentration is 0,2-1 %, depending on the formulation, which minimises the potential for irritation when used with airless packaging. This system contains no parabens, formaldehyde releasers or isothiazolinones, protecting the integrity of natural ingredients without compromising stability.

We recommend this blend for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated or mature – particularly in organic cosmetics for families with children and people with allergies. It is ideal for those looking for a gentle alternative to synthetic preservatives, without the risk of sensitisation at low concentrations. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirms that a blend of dehydroacetic acid (0,5 %), benzoic acid (0,3 %) and benzyl alcohol (0,2 %) achieved a 99,9 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in emulsions at pH 5,5 without affecting the product's rheology (Darr et al., 2014). Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2009) showed that sorbic acid used in combination (0,1 %) produced a 4 log reduction in Aspergillus niger within 7 days.

Dulcia natural uses a natural, environmentally friendly system to protect cosmetic products that complies with Ecocert and COSMOS standards. It has been developed to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination. It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection using optimised, innovative synergistic blends, with environmental responsibility and sustainable development in mind. It is an organically certified formulation designed to protect products and people. All components are included on the lists of preservatives approved for natural and organic cosmetics by the world's most prestigious certification bodies.

Xanthan gum Xanthan Gum

Xanthan gum is a fine powder obtained by fermenting sugar. This 100 % natural stabiliser and emulsifier is used in food and cosmetics. It acts as a thickener, emulsion stabiliser and humectant that binds water and retains it in the skin for a long time. It is obtained by fermenting glucose and sucrose. Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide produced by the bacterium Xanthomonas campestris derived from maize. No genetically modified raw materials are used in its production. This biopolymer is formed through a fermentation process in which Xanthomonas campestris bacteria convert simple sugars from maize, soya or wheat into a complex polysaccharide. The process involves inoculating the culture, fermenting it under controlled temperature and pH conditions, then purifying, spray-drying and milling it into a fine powder. Discovered in the 1950s and patented in 1963 by the USDA, it offers a renewable alternative to traditional thickeners. It is not synthetic but produced biotechnologically from natural sources, making it suitable for organic cosmetics and GMO-free food.

Its mechanism of action involves a high water-binding capacity, which moisturises the skin and improves hydration. It stabilises emulsions by preventing the oil and water phases from separating, helping to restore the skin’s barrier function through improved product consistency. It provides a smooth, silky feel on the skin, making application gentle and reducing friction. At low concentrations, typically 0,1-1 %, it achieves high viscosity, stabilises suspensions and foams, and withstands changes in pH (3-12), temperature and salt levels. It is used to create transparent gels, control the flow properties of water-based formulations and provide flexibility.

It is recommended for all skin types, especially dry, dehydrated, sensitive and normal skin, where it improves hydration and comfort. It is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin in cleansing gels and shampoos thanks to its stability at an acidic pH (4,5-5,5). In creams and serums for mature skin, it supports the skin barrier. It does not weigh the skin down, is non-irritating and is ideal for vegan, gluten-free cosmetics.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that xanthan gum at a concentration of 0,5 % in moisturising formulations increased moisture retention in the skin by 25 % after 24 hours compared with a placebo (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2015). Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that, at 0,3 % in emulsions, it stabilised the barrier function of dry skin 18 % more effectively, as measured by transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Peppermint essential oil Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil

Peppermint essential oil comes from the Mentha piperita plant. It has a fresh, gently cooling scent. The oil is obtained by distilling the whole plant and is transparent with a slight yellow tint. Peppermint essential oil supports the respiratory system, is suitable for treating inflammation and also reduces fever. The oil is suitable for all infections. Peppermint essential oil has cooling and soothing effects on the skin. This natural extract is rich in menthol, which is responsible for its characteristic cooling effect, and other bioactive compounds such as menthone and cineole. Mentha piperita is a hybrid of mint varieties, grown in the temperate climates of Europe and North America, where it is pressed or distilled to preserve its purity and potency. Organic-quality oil is sourced from organic farming without chemical sprays, ensuring greater safety for sensitive skin.

Its action is primarily based on a soothing and cooling effect that relieves irritation and inflammation. The menthol in the oil activates cold receptors in the skin, locally reducing the sensation of itching and pain. It has pronounced antimicrobial and antiseptic properties that combat acne-causing bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes. It reduces sebum production, helping to control skin oiliness, and acts as a mild antioxidant to protect against free radicals. It soothes redness, supports healing and refreshes the skin. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 0,5-2 % for topical application to avoid irritation; higher concentrations should only be used in diluted forms.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone and blemish-prone skin, where it regulates excess sebum production and reduces inflammation. It is also suitable for sensitive or dehydrated skin affected by burns, sun damage or itching. In low doses, it can refresh dry skin and help tone mature skin. People with very sensitive skin or a mint allergy, and pregnant women in their first trimester, should avoid it. Ideal for gels, toners, masks or targeted serums for the face and body, it can be combined with moisturising oils for a balanced effect.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2012) showed that a gel containing 3 % peppermint oil reduced itching in itchy skin by 44 % after 2 weeks of application compared with a placebo. Further research in the International Journal of Dermatology (2002) reports that a 10 % mint-derived menthol solution reduced inflammatory acne lesions by 25 % over 4 weeks in patients with mild acne. A clinical study in Phytotherapy Research (2019) confirmed that, at a concentration of 1 %, mentha piperita reduces sebum production by 30 % after 28 days of use on oily skin.

Common lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil

Lavender is an aromatic medicinal plant. This beautiful, lush shrub grows mainly on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, where it was valued by the ancient Egyptians for embalming and in perfumes. Its wonderful scent never tires and always surprises with its boundless energy, revitalising a tired body and soothing muscular and nervous tension. Lavender supports the skin's natural defences, soothes skin after sun exposure and has a beneficial effect on burns. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is used to treat eczema and fungal infections. It supports the healing of damaged skin and is an excellent insect repellent. Obtained by distilling the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender, it is 100% natural and environmentally friendly. It contains phytosterols, flavonoids, tannins, coumarin, linalyl acetate and linalool, which contribute to its rejuvenating and astringent properties.

Lavender oil soothes irritated skin, has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, regenerates skin and speeds up wound healing. It moisturises dry and dehydrated skin, helping it retain moisture and restore its protective barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties thanks to flavonoids, which protect against free radicals. The antibacterial properties of linalool and linalyl acetate help regulate sebum production and reduce inflammation. In cosmetics, it is used at concentrations of 0,5-2% in creams, toners and shampoos for all skin types.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It soothes sensitive and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and irritation. For oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria. For mature skin, it slows ageing and supports elasticity. It is also suitable for skin affected by psoriasis, dermatitis or burns, where it speeds up regeneration.

A study demonstrated that lavender oil from Lavandula angustifolia and linalyl acetate have a strong inhibitory effect on inflammation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research data cited in analyses). Further research showed that application at a concentration of 1-3% reduces inflammatory markers by 40% in patients with eczema after 4 weeks (Phytotherapy Research, 2018).

It helps relax stiff muscles after sport or physical exertion. Lavender drives away “impure thoughts” and strengthens the ego. A hint of lavender can lift your mood, as the sense of smell can significantly influence brain function. It eases nervous tension and is excellent for insomnia and headaches.

We choose packaging based on what it needs to protect

When developing LucyLab packaging, we weren’t just looking for a good design. We focused on how the packaging would perform day to day – how it would protect the formula, how precisely the product could be dispensed, and whether it would be suitable for cosmetics with a high content of active ingredients. That’s why we chose a 5-layer PE cosmetic tube for selected products.

5 layers for better protection of the cosmetic formula

This isn’t an ordinary plastic tube. Its multilayer COEX construction consists of PE layers and a special EVOH barrier layer. This significantly limits the penetration of oxygen and odours through the packaging wall, while helping to retain the product’s fragrance and sensitive active ingredients inside. Compared with a simple single-layer PE tube, it therefore provides the formula with significantly greater barrier protection.

A gentle formula needs carefully considered packaging

The better we can protect a product with its packaging, the less we need to rely solely on an intensive preservative system. The 5-layer barrier tube helps limit the effects of the external environment on the formula and supports our philosophy of carefully formulated cosmetics. Of course, packaging doesn’t replace proper preservation, but it plays an important supporting role.

Easy, controlled dispensing

The soft PE tube makes it easy to control how much product you squeeze out. Use a small amount for targeted application or more for a larger area – without scooping it out of a jar with your fingers. Practical dispensing also helps reduce unnecessary product waste.

Quality verified for cosmetic use

The manufacturer holds ISO certification for certified production facilities, SGS testing and materials that meet the relevant FDA requirements. When selecting packaging, we also take into account the principles of recognised cosmetic standards such as COSMOS and ECOCERT. At LucyLab, we believe that quality skincare starts with more than just the formula – it also starts with how well we can protect it.

Monika

Dobrý deň, v prvom rade chcem pochváliť Vašu prácu a Vaše produkty som s nimi veľmi spokojná. Nenaruší/ nepoškodí to pleť?

Dakujem, Eva
