Effective, gentle exfoliation for sensitive skin

This gentle enzymatic peel lifts away dead skin cells without mechanical abrasion, helping reveal smoother, fresher and visibly brighter skin. Tropical Fruit Harvest™ AF contains enzymes, while Lime Pearl™ AF supports natural exfoliation. The prebiotic preBIULIN® C90 helps maintain the balance of the skin microbiome, and Tazman Pepper™ AF soothes reactive skin. White clay absorbs excess sebum and helps purify pores. In just 1-2 minutes, skin is left softer and more radiant, and better prepared to absorb active ingredients from your next skincare step.

How does an enzymatic peel work? An enzymatic peel uses natural enzymes to gently dissolve dead skin cells and loosen the bonds between them on the skin’s surface, without mechanical abrasion. Unlike a traditional physical exfoliant, it contains no grains that scrub the skin. This makes it an ideal choice for sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin, which can be irritated by exfoliating particles. Despite its gentle action, it provides effective exfoliation, leaving skin smoother, clearer and fresher without mechanical friction.

What the peel helps with

  • Sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin: an ideal choice for skin that may be irritated by traditional exfoliating grains. The ingredients gently exfoliate even sensitive skin; Tazman Pepper™ AF helps reduce redness and discomfort, while preBIULIN® C90 supports the balance of the skin microbiome.
  • Rough skin texture and dead skin cells: fruit enzymes gently dissolve the layer of dead skin cells without mechanical abrasion. White clay also absorbs excess sebum and impurities, helping to purify pores and smooth the skin’s surface.
  • Tired, dull skin with an uneven tone: reveals fresher, more radiant skin beneath the layer of dead skin cells. Tropical Fruit Harvest™ AF supports exfoliation, while Lime Pearl™ AF helps smooth the skin’s surface and brighten its tone.

Who it’s for

This gentle enzymatic peel is suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin. It is especially suitable for:

  • sensitive and irritated skin that doesn’t suit physical exfoliants with grains,
  • acne-prone skin and skin with enlarged pores,
  • skin with uneven pigmentation and dark spots,
  • tired skin that looks dull and lacking in energy,
  • skin with a weakened skin barrier.

Key ingredients

  • Tropical Fruit Harvest™ AF: a bioactive enzyme complex. It helps loosen the bonds between dead skin cells and remove the outer layer of dead skin without grains or mechanical abrasion. After exfoliation, skin is smoother and clearer, and better prepared to absorb active ingredients from your next skincare step. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated through its dual action: proteolytic enzymes help lift away dead skin cells, while antioxidants protect the skin from oxidative stress. The result is smoother, fresher and more radiant-looking skin, without scrubbing.
  • Prebiotics preBIULIN® C90: prebiotics that nourish the beneficial microorganisms naturally living on the skin. They help create a favourable environment for a balanced skin microbiome, support hydration and reduce sensitivity associated with an imbalance.
  • Lime Pearl™ AF: a natural source of gentle AHA acids. It supports the natural shedding of dead skin cells, smooths the skin’s surface and helps restore radiance and a more even appearance. In a study of 20 women, Lime Pearl™ AF increased the rate of exfoliation by 26 % after just 30 minutes, with an effect recorded in all participants. Its effectiveness was also confirmed in a further test with 17 volunteers after 30 days.
  • Tazman Pepper™ AF: an extract that helps relieve the discomfort of reactive skin and balances the peel’s exfoliating action. In a study of 20 people with sensitive skin, the product reduced itching by 79 % and burning by 58 % after just 5 minutes. In a further test with 20 volunteers, it reduced the visibility of redness by up to 35 % after 24 hours.
  • BIO aloe vera juice: forms the hydrating base of the peel and helps keep skin supple and soft during exfoliation. In a clinical study of 20 women, the extract increased the water content of the outer layer of the skin after two weeks.
  • White clay: a gentle mineral clay that absorbs excess sebum and impurities. It helps purify the skin’s surface, keep pores clear and leave skin smoother without harsh mechanical abrasion. A laboratory study confirmed that it can absorb components of sebum, leaving skin smooth and balanced.

Texture

A lightweight, grain-free cream with a velvety finish. It has a very subtle floral scent.

How to use

In the evening, apply a generous layer to cleansed skin, avoiding the eye area. Massage gently in small circles, leave on for 1-2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. You can use a warm, damp cotton pad, konjac sponge or face cloth to help remove it. After exfoliation, skin is better prepared to absorb active ingredients from your next skincare step. We therefore recommend applying a face mask or your favourite product after using the peel. It contains enzymes, so carry out a patch test on your forearm before first use and monitor your skin’s reaction. The soft five-layer tube lets you squeeze out just the amount you need, so you don’t have to scoop the peel out of the container with your fingers.

Organic aloe vera juice Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice BIO

The earliest records of aloe vera as a medicinal plant date back thousands of years to ancient Egypt. Hippocrates also used aloe vera in his treatments, and Christopher Columbus called it the “doctor in a pot”. Aloe barbadensis is the most precious and sought-after variety of aloe vera among around 300 species of this plant. Cleopatra herself used its beauty benefits to help maintain her beauty and keep her skin and body fresh and full of vitality. Aloe vera is a source of a wide range of vital elements, including vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chlorine, as well as manganese, copper, zinc and chromium), amino acids (aloe vera contains as many as eight essential amino acids), and even enzymes, lectins and saponins – active substances that act against viruses, bacteria, fungi and infections. “Cleansing” lignin allows substances to penetrate deep into the skin. Anthraquinones help relieve pain and combat bacterial growth and viruses. The juice of this plant has adaptogenic properties, meaning that each cell in the human body uses only the substances it currently needs. To preserve these nutritional qualities, found in the gel-like substance inside the aloe vera leaf, the plant must be grown and processed correctly to prevent oxidation, which reduces its beneficial substances. When exposed to oxygen for more than 4 hours, the gel-like substance in the leaf oxidises and loses its value (you may recognise a similar reaction in a freshly cut apple, which quickly turns brown). Aloe must be stabilised. Stabilisation is a patented cold process that ensures the aloe stays just as it would be if you had freshly cut the leaf yourself. This process uses neither heat (stabilisation takes place at around 30 °C) nor chemicals, as these would destroy aloe vera's active components. Aloe vera protects the body from the harmful effects of oxygen free radicals, repairs and regenerates damaged cells and tissue, and can guide immune cells to the site of damage. Aloe vera has powerful detoxifying properties that help the body remove waste materials, toxins and bacteria, including from your digestive system.

Aloe vera juice intensely hydrates the skin thanks to polysaccharides, which form a protective film and lock moisture deep within the skin without leaving a greasy feel. It restores the skin barrier through vitamins and minerals that support cell regeneration and collagen production. As an antioxidant, it protects vitamins C, E and beta-carotene from free radicals, slowing skin ageing. It gently exfoliates thanks to enzymes that remove dead skin cells, and soothes irritation with anti-inflammatory compounds such as acemannan. Studies show that at concentrations above 1 %, it significantly improves hydration and regeneration.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. Ideal for reactive skin after sun exposure, shaving or treatments, where it soothes redness. For acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and cleanses pores without clogging them. For mature skin, it supports elasticity and reduces wrinkles.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2009) showed that aloe vera gel at a concentration of 0,5 % accelerated wound healing by 72 % compared with the control group after 12 days. Another study in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology (2014) showed that aloe vera at a concentration of 1 % increased collagen synthesis by 25 % in a culture of human fibroblasts.

White clay Kaolin

White clay is a rock composed of kaolinite minerals and quartz grains. It occurs naturally in rock formations, ranges in colour from white to brown and is rich in silicon. This mineral clay forms over long geological periods through the breakdown of feldspar rocks, particularly in areas with clay deposits such as China, Great Britain and the USA. In cosmetics, it is used as a natural extract obtained without chemical synthesis, through direct mining and purification of the deposits. Its fine texture and high aluminium oxide content make it ideal for gentle cosmetic applications, where it replaces harsher cleansing agents. Historically, it was used in traditional Chinese medicine for wound healing and detoxification.

White clay has strong absorbent properties that allow it to effectively bind excess sebum, impurities and toxins on the skin. It supports hydration by allowing moisturising ingredients to penetrate the skin more effectively once impurities have been absorbed. It restores the skin barrier by removing pore-clogging impurities, supporting the skin’s natural protective function. It gently exfoliates by breaking down dead skin cells without irritation, soothes inflammation and tightens pores by regulating sebaceous gland activity. A concentration of 10-20 % is recommended in face masks for optimal results without drying out the skin.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone and combination skin, where it regulates sebum production and helps prevent clogged pores. It is also suitable for sensitive and irritated skin thanks to its gentle, non-abrasive action. For dry skin, combine it with moisturising oils; for mature skin, add antioxidants such as vitamin E. It is not recommended for extremely dry or atopic skin without a patch test.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (2018) showed that kaolin at a concentration of 15 % in masks reduced sebum production by 28 % and pore diameter by 22 % after 4 weeks of use in people with oily skin. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2004) confirmed that kaolin absorbs 40 % more sebum than bentonite and reduces inflammatory markers by 35 %.

Corn starch Amylum Maydis BIO

Corn starch is one of the most common kitchen ingredients, but it is also excellent for use in cosmetics. Our corn starch is unmodified, pure and organic. Corn starch can eliminate odour and draw moisture from the skin, making it an excellent active ingredient in deodorants. It has a cool, silky texture and can soothe burning sensations and redness. Corn starch draws moisture from the skin, binding toxins trapped in it, which makes it suitable for soothing baths and external skin detoxification. It is made from maize, a naturally grown plant, and our product is obtained from organic sources without chemical modification, ensuring purity and safety for the skin.

Corn starch is an excellent absorbent, soaking up excess sebum, sweat and moisture from the skin to leave a matte finish and reduce greasiness. It has soothing properties, relieves irritation, redness and itching, and supports skin cell regeneration thanks to its content of vitamins A, B1, B2, C and minerals such as zinc, calcium and iron. It refines skin texture, leaves a silky feel and acts as a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin cells. At concentrations of 5-15 % in powders, it mattifies the skin and improves adhesion; at up to 2 %, it thickens emulsions and stabilises formulations.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone, sensitive and irritated skin, where it absorbs excess sebum, cleanses pores and helps prevent spots. It is also suitable for dry and dehydrated skin when combined with moisturising ingredients, for mature skin to soften wrinkles, and for children with nappy rash. In deodorants and powders, it is ideal for all skin types prone to sweating.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that corn starch at a concentration of 10 % in topical formulations reduced sebum production by 25 % after 4 weeks of application in people with oily skin. Further research in the International Journal of Dermatology (2018) confirmed that pastes containing 20 % corn starch reduced itching and inflammation associated with skin rashes by 40 % within 48 hours compared with a placebo.

preBIULIN C90 Cellulose Gum, Inulin, Xanthan Gum, Fructose, Glucose, Cellulose

Polyfructose extracted from chicory root (Cichorium Intybus) and enzymatically purified to a chain length of more than 10 fructose units. In addition to restoring the skin microbiome, it provides cells with the energy they need for their metabolism and functions. A new, scientifically tested skin prebiotic. A prebiotic is essentially a selective nutritional supplement for our protective, beneficial skin microbiota. Harmful microorganisms cannot metabolise the prebiotic. This strengthens and balances the skin's natural microbiota while putting harmful microorganisms at a disadvantage. As our first line of defence, our skin microbiota is constantly exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Pollution, excessive UV exposure, household chemicals and harsh cosmetics can disrupt its delicate balance. Its only resources for survival are dead corneocytes, sebum and oxidised skin lipids. Sometimes this is simply not enough to cope with environmental conditions. When this barrier weakens, our skin becomes sensitive, dry, infected, itchy and wrinkled: the skin ages. The solution to slowing skin ageing and keeping skin healthy is to provide energy for, and protect, this precious barrier formed by the skin microbiota. Protecting, strengthening and balancing the human skin microbiota is a key strategy for maintaining skin health and beauty. The prebiotic culture significantly improves the skin microbiota, making skin more resilient and healthier.

It works by selectively feeding beneficial bacteria in the skin microbiome, helping to restore the skin barrier, moisturise the skin and provide antioxidant action. It supplies cells with energy for their metabolism, promotes the growth of beneficial microorganisms and puts harmful ones at a disadvantage. It forms a light protective film, maintains the skin's slightly acidic pH and reduces oxidative stress. Clinical studies show that regular use helps maintain skin barrier homeostasis, triggers antioxidant responses and increases skin hydration.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, irritated, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It is ideal for skin weakened by external factors such as pollution or UV exposure, helping to strengthen its defences and improve hydration. Suitable for all skin types, especially those with a disrupted microbiota, as seen in acne, eczema or ageing skin.

Clinical studies show that regular use of the prebiotic complex increases skin hydration over 28 days and helps maintain skin barrier homeostasis (Prebiulin clinical tests, Givaudan). Prebiotics reduce inflammation and strengthen the barrier, helping to reduce redness in sensitive skin (studies on probiotics and prebiotics in cosmetics, AntiAge.sk).

Cellulose Cellulose

Cellulose is a natural polysaccharide that forms the main structural component of plant cell walls, particularly in wood and other plant materials such as wood shavings. It occurs in a dense, fat-like form, with a chemical composition similar to starch, and is obtained directly from nature or modified for cosmetic use. It is used in the form of microcrystalline cellulose with crystals measuring 20 to 150 nm, giving it a distinctive structure that can form gels on contact with water. It is completely safe, hypoallergenic, non-toxic and biodegradable, with no medicinal effects on human skin, but with strong absorbent properties that reduce the transparency of products. In cosmetics, it serves as a filler and binder and thickens formulations, improving their stability and spreadability on both skin and hair.

Function

Cellulose moisturises the skin by binding water and forming hydrating gels similar to the skin's natural moisturising factors, helping to regulate hydration and prevent dryness. It restores the protective barrier by protecting against external factors such as dryness or irritation, stabilises emulsions and prevents ingredients from separating into layers. It acts indirectly as an antioxidant by stabilising active ingredients such as vitamins, prolonging their activity. It absorbs excess sebum and water, contributing to a gentle exfoliating effect, and soothes the skin thanks to its hypoallergenic properties without causing irritation. Typical concentrations are not strictly specified, but it is used at low percentages (0,5-5 %) as a thickener and stabiliser to achieve optimal viscosity without a greasy feel.

Recommendations

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, combination, dehydrated and mature skin. For dry and dehydrated skin, it provides intensive hydration and protection against moisture loss. Sensitive skin benefits from its hypoallergenic, non-irritating properties, making it ideal for minimalist, fragrance-free formulations. It helps oily and acne-prone skin by absorbing excess sebum without clogging pores, and is suitable for deodorants and antiperspirants. Mature skin benefits from visibly smoother wrinkles and improved elasticity through better product texture. It is suitable for all types of products, including creams, gels, masks, shampoos and make-up, particularly in natural cosmetics.

References, specific figures and statistics

Microcrystalline cellulose in crystalline form measuring 20-150 nm significantly improves emulsion viscosity by 20-50 % depending on the concentration, preventing separation into layers in face creams and shampoos (Natural Poland, Polysaccharides in cosmetics, 2023). Carboxymethylcellulose (a cellulose derivative) at a concentration of 1-3 % increases the stability of suspensions in scrubs, keeping particles evenly distributed for 6 months of storage without sedimentation (Kimachemical, The role of cellulose in skincare, 2022). A study on polysaccharides confirms that cellulose increases pigment adhesion in pressed make-up by 30 %, improving the coverage of bronzers and eyeshadows (Journal of Cosmetic Science, Polysaccharide applications, 2019).

Curly cauliflower fungus Carrageenan, Xanthan Gum

A natural hydrocolloid or natural extract from specific species of seaweed. It is used as a suspending agent, emulsion stabiliser and binder. It has powerful moisturising properties and acts as a skin conditioner. It soothes and nourishes the skin, as it is very rich in minerals that are essential for healthy skin function. It is rich in B vitamins, vitamin C, essential fatty acids and fibre. It has antioxidant properties. This natural polymer is extracted from red seaweed, such as Chondrus crispus or Eucheuma spp., through gentle drying and milling, which preserves its bioactive properties. It contains carrageenans, polysaccharides capable of binding large amounts of water, ensuring long-lasting hydration. In addition to minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium, it also provides trace elements that support skin cell regeneration. Its high water solubility makes it ideal for gels, creams and masks, where it improves the product's texture and feel without the need for synthetic thickeners.

Its main mechanism of action is moisturisation: it binds water in the outermost layer of the skin and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). It restores the skin barrier by supporting the synthesis of ceramides and lipids, improving elasticity. As an antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals generated by UV radiation or pollution, helping to prevent premature ageing. It has gentle soothing properties thanks to anti-inflammatory polysaccharides that ease irritation. At concentrations of 0,5-2 % in topical products, it significantly increases hydration; a study showed that carrageenan in a 1 % gel improved hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks of application (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). It does not exfoliate, but stabilises emulsions to improve the penetration of active ingredients.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it intensively replenishes moisture and strengthens the barrier. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin at low concentrations, as it regulates sebum production without clogging pores and soothes inflammation. It is ideal for atopic skin or to support recovery after peels. It is not recommended for people with a seaweed allergy. In practice, natural cosmetics manufacturers value its versatility in creams, serums and shower gels.

A study published in the Journal of Applied Phycology (2019) demonstrated that Irish moss extract at a concentration of 1,5 % increased collagen synthesis in fibroblasts by 18 % after 7 days in vitro, supporting skin firmness. Further research in Marine Drugs (2021) reports that its polysaccharides in a 2 % formulation reduced the expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-6 by 30 % in irritated skin, confirming its soothing effects. These data support its clinical use in moisturising products.

Mixture of enzymes from tropical fruit Glycerin (and) Water (and) Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract (and) Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract (and) Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract

Description

This ingredient comes from tropical fruits, specifically mango (Mangifera indica), papaya (Carica papaya) and pineapple (Ananas sativus). It is a natural organic extract obtained from these plants, stabilised with glycerine and water for better solubility and use in cosmetics. Enzymes such as papain from papaya and bromelain from pineapple occur naturally in the fruit and have a proteolytic action, meaning they break down proteins. These extracts are obtained from organically grown sources, ensuring high quality and the absence of pesticides. They are used in cosmetics for gentle exfoliation without mechanical scrubbing, helping to protect the skin from irritation. In addition to enzymes, they contain vitamins A, B and C, minerals and antioxidants that support overall skin vitality. The extraction process preserves bioactive substances in their natural form, enhancing their effectiveness in skincare.

Function

Its action is primarily based on enzymatic exfoliation, in which the enzymes papain and bromelain dissolve dead skin cells, impurities and sebum without irritation. It moisturises the skin thanks to glycerine and carbohydrates from the fruit, restores the skin barrier by forming a protective film, acts as an antioxidant by scavenging free radicals and soothes inflammation. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, stimulates collagen synthesis and brightens the skin. The recommended concentration in formulations is 1-5 %, with 2-3 % providing optimal exfoliation without sensitisation.

Recommendations

Suitable for oily, combination, acne-prone and problem skin, where it regulates sebum and minimises pores. It is also recommended for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin thanks to its hydrating and soothing effects. For mature skin, it offers anti-ageing benefits, reduces pigmentation and improves elasticity. Not recommended for extremely sensitive skin with open wounds. Ideal for exfoliators, masks, toners and serums for daily or weekly exfoliation.

References, specific figures and statistics

The Tropical Fruit Harvest complex (Mangifera Indica, Carica Papaya, Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract), containing the enzymes bromelain and papain, supports gentle exfoliation and skin nourishment. Bromelain from pineapple at a concentration of 1-2 % reduces inflammation and improves the appearance of problem skin by 20-30 % after 4 weeks (according to clinical tests involving alginate masks). Papain (120 000 PU) in enzyme blends increases nutrient absorption and exfoliates without irritation, as shown by studies on digestive enzymes that are applicable to cosmetics.

Tazman Pepper™ Glycerin (and) Water (and) Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract
# Description and distribution of the cosmetic ingredient: Tasmanian pepper

Tasmanian pepper, also known as Australian mountain pepper (Tasmannia lanceolata), comes from an evergreen shrub that grows in the tropical rainforests of Tasmania and eastern Australia. This natural resource was traditionally used by Indigenous peoples for skin care. The ingredient is extracted from the leaves and berries of the plant using a combination of glycerine and water to preserve its active compounds. The shrubs reach heights of up to 5 metres and are distinguished by their characteristic dark red branches and deep green leaves, which are rich in bioactive compounds.

Function

Tasmanian pepper acts as a powerful natural soothing and anti-inflammatory agent. It works by inhibiting inflammatory mediators and reducing skin reactivity. The extract reduces measured inflammatory markers and regulates the skin's immune responses. It immediately relieves the itching and burning sensations typical of sensitive skin. Its antioxidant properties also protect the skin against free radicals and support skin barrier repair. The extract also soothes redness and helps restore compromised skin integrity.

Recommendations

Tasmanian pepper is particularly suitable for dry, sensitive, reactive and irritated skin. We recommend it for people with rosacea, atopic eczema, or skin prone to redness and itching. It is also an excellent ingredient for products formulated for sensitive and allergy-prone skin. It is suitable for mature skin showing signs of irritation and for skin weakened by external factors.

References and scientific evidence

A 2022 study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences confirmed that natural anti-inflammatory extracts with a similar composition reduce inflammatory cytokine levels and markers of inflammation in people with sensitive skin. Research published in Biochemistry and Cell Biology in 2020 showed that plant extracts with antibacterial properties support skin barrier repair and the skin's natural immunity. Niacinamide, often combined with similar extracts at concentrations of 4 to 5 per cent, reduces redness and irritation by a measurable percentage over 6 to 8 weeks of use.

Lime Pearl™ AF Glycerin (and) Water (and) Microcitrus Australasica Fruit Extract

Finger lime extract comes from the fruit of a shrub called Microcitrus australasica, native to the rainforests of Australia's east coast. It produces beautiful small, green to purple citrus fruits. The flesh contains pearly white, green or pink vesicles that resemble caviar. It is rich in organic acids, particularly citric acid. It also contains polyphenols, flavonoids and sugar. This edible fruit has long been carefully harvested by Indigenous people and is still used in fine dining today. In the mouth, the vesicles release a pleasant flavour, sweeter than lemon, and leave a grapefruit aftertaste. It is often added to martinis or champagne, or used as an exotic garnish. This natural organic extract is obtained from the fruit of this unique plant and is used in cosmetics as a stabilised blend with glycerine and water for better solubility and application. The plant grows in a subtropical climate, and its fruit is harvested by hand, ensuring high quality and preserving bioactive substances such as enzymes and AHA acids.

For cosmetic use, it is specifically designed to stimulate skin desquamation (the shedding of dead skin cells). It works through an innovative mechanism that affects the activity of the TRPV3 channel. This channel is found on keratinocytes (living skin cells), which are involved in the natural desquamation process. Activating them weakens the bonds between cells, stimulates cell division and initiates the shedding process. Epidermal turnover slows with age, making it very important to stimulate this process. Finger lime extract increases the number of TRPV channels and stimulates exfoliation by activating them. It also exfoliates thanks to its AHA acids and fruit enzymes, which dissolve the bonds that hold cells together. Its polyphenols soothe the skin and have antioxidant properties, while the removal of excess dead skin cells supports skin barrier renewal. The typical concentration in products is around 1-5 %, depending on the formulation.

We particularly recommend it for dry, sensitive, mature, dehydrated and oily skin prone to clogged pores. For sensitive skin, it is ideal as a gentle enzymatic exfoliant that minimises irritation, while for oily and acne-prone skin, it helps to clear pores and reduce shine. Mature skin benefits from stimulated cell turnover to help address wrinkles and loss of elasticity. Dry and dehydrated skin benefits from a smoother, more radiant appearance. Frequency: 1-3 times a week, depending on skin type, always followed by moisturising skincare.

A study by Trinity Bioactives (2022) confirmed that AHA-rich finger lime extract supports fresh, radiant skin when combined with other ingredients, with 88 % of respondents reporting firmer skin after 4 weeks. Other sources state that the enzymes in the extract smooth the skin and minimise the appearance of pores, improving the absorption of products applied afterwards.

Organic preservative compound Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Benzyl alcohol

First of all, we would like to explain that cosmetic products do need preservatives to prevent microbial growth, product spoilage and potential skin infections that may have long-term adverse effects on your skin. Protecting the product from spoilage, and therefore protecting you, is extremely important. It is equally important to us that the preservative system is mild and gentle and has absolutely no negative impact on your health. Our packaging also plays a significant role in gentle preservation, allowing us to use the lowest concentration of the preservative blend. This blend consists of organic acids and benzyl alcohol obtained through natural processes without synthetic chemicals, in accordance with strict organic farming and certification standards. The components originate from plant sources or microbial processes: dehydroacetic acid is produced through glucose fermentation, benzoic and sorbic acids are isolated from berries or strawberries, and benzyl alcohol from plant essential oils such as ylang-ylang or jasmine. These organic extracts are certified as natural and organic, free from GMOs and pesticides.

The organic preservative blend works by acidifying its environment, lowering the pH to 4-5,5, a level that inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The synergistic effect of the blend ensures broad-spectrum protection: dehydroacetic acid inhibits fungal enzymes, benzoic and sorbic acids penetrate the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupt their metabolism, while benzyl alcohol disrupts cell walls. The typical concentration is 0,2-1 %, depending on the formulation, which minimises the potential for irritation when used with airless packaging. This system contains no parabens, formaldehyde releasers or isothiazolinones, protecting the integrity of natural ingredients without compromising stability.

We recommend this blend for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated or mature – particularly in organic cosmetics for families with children and people with allergies. It is ideal for those looking for a gentle alternative to synthetic preservatives, without the risk of sensitisation at low concentrations. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirms that a blend of dehydroacetic acid (0,5 %), benzoic acid (0,3 %) and benzyl alcohol (0,2 %) achieved a 99,9 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in emulsions at pH 5,5 without affecting the product's rheology (Darr et al., 2014). Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2009) showed that sorbic acid used in combination (0,1 %) produced a 4 log reduction in Aspergillus niger within 7 days.

Dulcia natural uses a natural, environmentally friendly system to protect cosmetic products that complies with Ecocert and COSMOS standards. It has been developed to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination. It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection using optimised, innovative synergistic blends, with environmental responsibility and sustainable development in mind. It is an organically certified formulation designed to protect products and people. All components are included on the lists of preservatives approved for natural and organic cosmetics by the world's most prestigious certification bodies.

KELCO Care Sphingomonas Ferment Extract

KELCO-care is a modern biopolymer obtained through fermentation by microorganisms of the genus Sphingomonas. It appears on the INCI list as Sphingomonas Ferment Extract. It is not a conventional active ingredient whose main role is to directly target wrinkles, pigmentation or acne. Its value lies primarily in creating a stable, pleasant and functional texture in cosmetic products.

In formulations, it helps thicken the water phase and keep pigments, powders, oil droplets and other insoluble ingredients evenly dispersed. This supports the stability of serums, emulsions, gels, sunscreens and products with a higher content of minerals or active ingredients. The manufacturer describes KELCO-care diutan gum as a water-soluble fermentation-derived biopolymer developed specifically for cosmetics and personal care products.

One of its important properties is its pseudoplastic, or “shear-thinning”, behaviour. A product can remain sufficiently thick and stable in its packaging, yet its structure loosens as it is spread, making it easier to apply and distribute evenly over the skin. Research into the rheological properties of aqueous diutan gum solutions has shown a marked ability to modify viscosity and form a structured network in an aqueous environment.

A study focusing on emulsions also found that, at a suitable concentration, diutan gum promoted gel-like rheological properties and improved the physical stability of the emulsion. This effect is particularly important in products where phase separation or the settling of particles needs to be limited.

In a finished cosmetic product, KELCO-care contributes to a smooth, even and elegant texture. It helps the product dispense easily, stay in place without running, spread pleasantly and remain stable during use. Its benefit to the skin is therefore mainly indirect: it enables the creation of a high-quality formulation in which active ingredients are evenly dispersed and the product is comfortable to apply.

Common lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil

Lavender is an aromatic medicinal plant. This beautiful, lush shrub grows mainly on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, where it was valued by the ancient Egyptians for embalming and in perfumes. Its wonderful scent never tires and always surprises with its boundless energy, revitalising a tired body and soothing muscular and nervous tension. Lavender supports the skin's natural defences, soothes skin after sun exposure and has a beneficial effect on burns. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is used to treat eczema and fungal infections. It supports the healing of damaged skin and is an excellent insect repellent. Obtained by distilling the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender, it is 100% natural and environmentally friendly. It contains phytosterols, flavonoids, tannins, coumarin, linalyl acetate and linalool, which contribute to its rejuvenating and astringent properties.

Lavender oil soothes irritated skin, has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, regenerates skin and speeds up wound healing. It moisturises dry and dehydrated skin, helping it retain moisture and restore its protective barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties thanks to flavonoids, which protect against free radicals. The antibacterial properties of linalool and linalyl acetate help regulate sebum production and reduce inflammation. In cosmetics, it is used at concentrations of 0,5-2% in creams, toners and shampoos for all skin types.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It soothes sensitive and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and irritation. For oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria. For mature skin, it slows ageing and supports elasticity. It is also suitable for skin affected by psoriasis, dermatitis or burns, where it speeds up regeneration.

A study demonstrated that lavender oil from Lavandula angustifolia and linalyl acetate have a strong inhibitory effect on inflammation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research data cited in analyses). Further research showed that application at a concentration of 1-3% reduces inflammatory markers by 40% in patients with eczema after 4 weeks (Phytotherapy Research, 2018).

It helps relax stiff muscles after sport or physical exertion. Lavender drives away “impure thoughts” and strengthens the ego. A hint of lavender can lift your mood, as the sense of smell can significantly influence brain function. It eases nervous tension and is excellent for insomnia and headaches.

Ylang-ylang oil Cananga Odorata Flower Oil

Ylang-ylang oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers of Cananga Odorata, an evergreen tropical tree native to southern Asia, particularly the Philippines. The name comes from the Filipino word alang-ylang, which literally refers to flowers that "hang" or "flutter in the wind". It is a natural essential oil with a pale yellow, oily appearance, containing a range of valuable compounds from the plant material.

Function

Ylang-ylang oil works in several ways. Primarily, it moisturises the skin and supports hydration, helping to maintain natural moisture levels in the skin's outermost layer. It also regulates sebaceous gland activity, balancing sebum production. It has a balancing action: it reduces sebum production in oily skin while providing the hydration it needs. The oil also has antiseptic properties and soothes skin irritation. It contains antioxidants that protect the skin against free radicals and ageing.

Recommendations

Ylang-ylang oil is versatile and suitable for all skin types. It is particularly recommended for oily and combination skin, where its regulating properties help balance sebum production. Its soothing and hydrating effects also make it useful in caring for sensitive and dehydrated skin. Mature skin benefits from its antioxidant properties, which help prevent visible signs of ageing. Thanks to its gentle, balancing action, it can be an ideal step in the skincare routine of those looking for a natural way to balance their skin.

We choose packaging based on what it needs to protect

When developing LucyLab packaging, we weren’t just looking for a good design. We focused on how the packaging would perform day to day – how it would protect the formula, how precisely the product could be dispensed, and whether it would be suitable for cosmetics with a high content of active ingredients. That’s why we chose a 5-layer PE cosmetic tube for selected products.

5 layers for better protection of the cosmetic formula

This isn’t an ordinary plastic tube. Its multilayer COEX construction consists of PE layers and a special EVOH barrier layer. This significantly limits the penetration of oxygen and odours through the packaging wall, while helping to retain the product’s fragrance and sensitive active ingredients inside. Compared with a simple single-layer PE tube, it therefore provides the formula with significantly greater barrier protection.

A gentle formula needs carefully considered packaging

The better we can protect a product with its packaging, the less we need to rely solely on an intensive preservative system. The 5-layer barrier tube helps limit the effects of the external environment on the formula and supports our philosophy of carefully formulated cosmetics. Of course, packaging doesn’t replace proper preservation, but it plays an important supporting role.

Easy, controlled dispensing

The soft PE tube makes it easy to control how much product you squeeze out. Use a small amount for targeted application or more for a larger area – without scooping it out of a jar with your fingers. Practical dispensing also helps reduce unnecessary product waste.

Quality verified for cosmetic use

The manufacturer holds ISO certification for certified production facilities, SGS testing and materials that meet the relevant FDA requirements. When selecting packaging, we also take into account the principles of recognised cosmetic standards such as COSMOS and ECOCERT. At LucyLab, we believe that quality skincare starts with more than just the formula – it also starts with how well we can protect it.
