Moroccan clay

Moroccan Lava Clay

Moroccan clay is regarded as a natural beauty aid and is particularly effective in caring for congested and problem skin. This natural clay is composed of silicon and magnesium ions, as well as iron and calcium oxides. Its powerful cleansing properties have been known for centuries, combining intensive action with gentleness. The clay reliably helps prevent acne and is suitable for people with allergies to synthetic and harsh surfactants. Moroccan clay has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It is mined in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and used in traditional Moroccan hammams to detoxify the body, face and hair. Rich in minerals such as silicon, potassium and calcium, it supports skin regeneration without disrupting its natural barrier. It can absorb toxins and impurities while leaving the skin hydrated and fresh.

Moroccan clay acts as a powerful adsorbent, absorbing excess sebum, toxins and impurities from the pores, thereby mechanically exfoliating dead skin cells and regulating sebum production. It has pronounced anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic properties that soothe irritation and support healing. It stimulates circulation in the skin, detoxifies it and improves its elasticity. It also contains antioxidants that protect against free radicals and help restore the skin barrier. The recommended amount for a mask is 1-2 teaspoons of clay mixed with water or floral water per application, applied 1-2 times a week.

Ideal for oily, combination, problem and acne-prone skin, but also suitable for sensitive, dry, dehydrated or mature skin thanks to its gentle cleansing action that does not dry out the skin. Recommended for people with enlarged pores, blackheads, eczema or psoriasis, as well as for cellulite and the care of hair prone to oiliness and dandruff. Regular use minimises breakouts and evens out skin tone.

Clinical studies confirm the effectiveness of clays: for example, rhassoul clay absorbed 98 % of E. coli and 97 % of C. albicans in laboratory tests, demonstrating strong antibacterial and antifungal properties (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2015). Another study showed that Moroccan clay in masks reduced sebum production by 68 % after 4 weeks of use in people with oily skin (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2018).
