Clove essential oil

Eugenia Caryophyllata Oil

It has a golden-brown color and a woody, spicy aroma. Cloves improve blood circulation, thereby increasing the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the tissues. Clove essential oil also purifies the blood. Clove essential oil eliminates bad breath and also helps with tooth and gum pain. The active compounds in clove essential oil fight bacteria, viruses, and fungi, thereby increasing the body's defenses. Eugenol, the main component of clove oil, exhibits pharmacological effects on almost all problems in the human body. This oil is obtained by distilling clove buds from the tropical tree Syzygium aromaticum, which grows in Indonesia and Madagascar. It is a 100% natural extract without synthetic additives, rich in eugenol (up to 80-90%), which gives it strong bioactive properties. In cosmetics, it is used as a concentrated essential oil that retains the full power of plant biophenols and terpenes.

Its mechanism of action lies in its strong antioxidant properties, where it neutralizes free radicals and protects skin cells from oxidative stress. It has significant anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting enzymes such as cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing redness and irritation. Its analgesic properties block the transmission of pain signals in nerve endings, acting as a local anesthetic. Antimicrobially, it fights bacteria and yeasts by inhibiting their growth. As an antiseptic, it cleanses and regenerates the skin. In cosmetics, it is recommended in concentrations of 0.1-1% in diluted form for topical applications to avoid irritation.

It is especially recommended for oily, acne-prone, and problematic skin, where it helps regulate sebum and fight acne-causing bacteria. It is also suitable for sensitive and irritated skin with a tendency toward inflammation, dry skin needing improved circulation, and mature skin as an anti-aging antioxidant. It is not recommended for children, pregnant women, or in cases of eugenol allergy. It is ideal for men in beard care or for body oils for muscle pain.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2012) showed that eugenol from clove essential oil at a concentration of 0.5% inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by 99.9% and Candida albicans by 95% after 24 hours of exposure, confirming its strong antimicrobial effects (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2012). Another study in Phytotherapy Research (2006) showed that clove essential oil at a concentration of 1% reduced inflammatory markers such as TNF-α by 68% in a skin irritation model (Phytotherapy Research, 2006). These data support its use in cosmetics for the prevention of infections and inflammation.
