Extra virgin coconut oil – fragrant

Cocos Nucifera Oil

Description: Virgin coconut oil is obtained by mechanically cold-pressing the white flesh of ripe coconuts from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), native to tropical regions of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, particularly the Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. It is a natural plant extract obtained without heat processing, preserving all its nutritional value and vitamins A, C and E. The oil has a characteristic solid consistency at temperatures below 25°C and a pleasant scent with subtle coconut notes. Its main component is lauric acid (approximately 50 %), which also occurs naturally in breast milk and serves as an easily digestible component that protects the developing immune system. Other fatty acids in the oil have antibiotic-like properties that disrupt the membranes of yeasts, moulds and viruses. Thanks to its high content of antioxidant polyphenols, it helps prevent skin damage caused by free radicals.

Function: Virgin coconut oil acts as a powerful moisturising and regenerating agent thanks to fatty acids that penetrate deep into the hair cuticle and dermis, providing intensive nourishment, unlike commercial products that act only on the surface. It restores the skin’s natural protective barrier, which protects against harmful external factors and bacteria. It has pronounced antibacterial and antifungal effects thanks to lauric acid, which acts effectively against disease-causing pathogens. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce inflammation and accelerate wound healing. As a natural antioxidant, it slows oxidative stress in cells and contributes to skin regeneration, increases collagen production and accelerates cell renewal. For hair, it supports growth by stimulating blood circulation in the scalp and strengthens hair follicles.

Recommendations: Virgin coconut oil is ideal for people with dry, sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin that needs intensive care and regeneration. It is also recommended for problem skin prone to acne, eczema and rashes thanks to its antibacterial and soothing effects. It is also excellent for weak, brittle hair and scalps affected by dandruff. However, it is not suitable for people with very oily skin without prior consultation. Regular use of coconut oil on the hair thoroughly strengthens it, adds shine, improves elasticity and softness, and reduces breakage, while providing deep regeneration for the hair strands.

References and research: Several scientific studies confirm the effectiveness of coconut oil. Lauric acid, at the concentration naturally found in coconut oil, has demonstrated significant antibacterial effects against pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus. Research also documents that regular use of coconut oil on hair improves hydration and reduces breakage compared with untreated samples. Studies examining antioxidant polyphenols in virgin coconut oil have highlighted its ability to neutralise free radicals and slow the visible signs of skin ageing.
