Jojoba wax

Simmondsia Chinensis Oil – Tocopherol

Jojoba wax comes from jojoba oil. Jojoba grows naturally in desert regions. The liquid oil is obtained from the seeds by mechanical pressure, then the mixture is hydrogenated into a solid waxy consistency, and we obtain jojoba wax. Jojoba wax ranges in color from ivory to light golden, has a faintly sweet scent, and is very firm. The wax carries the exceptionally rare properties of jojoba oil. This hydrogenation process preserves the natural structure similar to human sebum, which makes the wax highly compatible with the skin. It is a fully natural product without synthetic additives, environmentally friendly and biodegradable, ideal for sustainable cosmetics.

It is very natural and excellently tolerated even by very sensitive skin. It contains myristic acid, which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. It contains a range of minerals (silicon, copper, zinc), beneficial fatty acids, and vitamins, similar to jojoba oil. It improves the shelf life and durability of cosmetics. Its mechanism of action includes moisturizing and restoring the skin barrier thanks to essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which form lipids that protect against external influences such as cold or UV radiation. As an antioxidant, it protects against free radicals, soothes irritation, and supports healing. Silicon, together with zinc and copper, contributes to collagen strength. The recommended concentration in formulations is 1-10% for emulsions and balms.

Suitable for sensitive, problematic, and mature skin. I recommend it for dry and dehydrated skin, where it restores the barrier and prevents moisture loss; sensitive and allergic skin, because it is hypoallergenic and soothes without irritation; oily and acne-prone skin thanks to the anti-inflammatory effects of myristic acid and zinc, which protects against infections; and mature skin to support elasticity with minerals such as silicon. Minerals such as zinc contribute to smooth and clear skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that jojoba wax at a concentration of 5% in creams increased skin hydration by 28% after 4 weeks in women with dry skin and improved elasticity by 15% (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). Another study in the Journal of Dermatological Science (2020) confirmed that hydrogenated jojoba wax strengthens the skin barrier, reducing transepidermal water loss by 22% compared with the control (Journal of Dermatological Science, 2020).
