SYN-COLL peptide

This is a laboratory-made lipopeptide consisting of three amino acids with an attached fatty palmitoyl group. This improves its affinity for the skin and makes it easier to incorporate into emulsions. The molecule is designed to mimic a signal associated with the natural activation of the growth factor TGF beta and support processes involved in dermal matrix formation.

SYN-COLL peptide stimulates signalling pathways associated with collagen synthesis and may also limit the activity of enzymes that break down collagen. The aim is to support skin firmness, smoothness and elasticity over time. It does not act as an instant filler or botulinum toxin. Visible results depend on regular use, a stable formulation and protection against UV radiation, which is one of the main causes of collagen degradation.

We recommend it for mature, sagging and dry skin, as well as for preventative care when the first fine lines appear. It is suitable for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate retinoids or strong acids. It can also be used on oily skin in a lightweight serum, as the peptide itself is neither a greasy nor a comedogenic emollient.

A scientific review of topical peptides reports that, in the available in vivo data, palmitoyl tripeptide-3 or 5 was approximately 3,5 times more effective than placebo at reducing the appearance of wrinkles and supported collagen synthesis in laboratory tests (Cosmetics, 2017). Some of the data comes from manufacturers, so the results of the finished product need to be verified separately.

The typical usage level of the supplier's solution is approximately 1 to 3 per cent, depending on its activity. The peptide is added during the cool-down phase and protected from extreme pH levels and prolonged heating. In a formulation, it works well alongside hydrating ingredients, antioxidants and daily SPF.

When using targeted skincare with active ingredients, it is best to start gradually and avoid changing several products at once during the first few weeks. This makes it easier to distinguish the effects from irritation. Visible changes in texture or tone usually require several weeks of regular use. Daily SPF protection, gentle cleansing and a well-functioning skin barrier have a significant influence on whether the results are good and lasting.
