Helichrysum Italicum Flower Water

BIO immortelle water is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers of Helichrysum italicum, also known as Italian everlasting or immortelle. This aromatic plant comes from the dry, sandy and rocky regions of the Mediterranean, where it survives in environments with little water. The name Helichrysum comes from the Greek words helios (sun) and chrysos (gold), reflecting its golden flowers, which remain fresh even after flowering, hence its nickname, ‘everlasting’. BIO quality guarantees that it is grown without pesticides or chemicals, preserving its natural properties. The distillation process produces a hydrosol, a by-product of essential oil production that contains water-soluble bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids and chlorogenic acid. This organic extract is 100% natural, preservative-free and suitable for both internal and external use.

Immortelle water acts as a toner, revitalising, soothing, reducing inflammation, cleansing and supporting circulation. It hydrates the skin, restores its barrier through antioxidant properties that neutralise free radicals, and relieves irritation. It has purifying effects and helps with redness and swelling. In cosmetics, it is used at a concentration of approximately 30-50% in the water phase of creams and lotions, or as a toner spray. It soothes irritated skin and supports healing.

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, irritated, eczema-prone, oily, tired, mature or dehydrated skin. It is ideal for skin prone to redness, rosacea or eczema, or after sun exposure, when it reduces inflammation and supports regeneration. It is also suitable for tired legs or dark circles under the eyes, thanks to its ability to improve circulation.

A study showed that a methanolic extract of Helichrysum italicum inhibited the production of the inflammatory leukotriene B4 in a model of stimulated rat polymorphonuclear leukocytes by 94% (gnaphaliin) and 96% (pinocembrin) compared with the control (Planta Medica, 2002). Further research demonstrated that an ethanolic extract reduced the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, with MIC values of 31.25-62.50 μg/mL (Nostro et al.). Chlorogenic acid from the extract inhibited Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation by 45% at 128 μg/mL (D’Abrosca et al.). These findings confirm strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial effects.
