Vitex Agnus-Castus Extract (and) Acetyl Tyrosine (and) Glycerin (and) Alcohol (and) Aqua

This blend combines a natural extract from the fruit of Vitex agnus-castus, also known as chaste tree, native to southern Europe and western Asia. This shrubby tree has traditionally been used in herbal medicine for its hormone-regulating effects. The extract is combined with acetyl tyrosine, a derivative of the non-essential amino acid tyrosine, obtained through biotechnological fermentation using bacteria, an environmentally friendly process. Other ingredients include glycerine as a natural humectant, alcohol as a solvent and water as a carrier. The result is a stabilised bioactive composition designed to support the skin's natural pigmentation, ideal for modern cosmetics that emphasise natural and synthetically optimised ingredients.

Its main mechanism of action involves stimulating the synthesis of melanin, the skin's natural pigment, through acetyl tyrosine, which is converted into melanin and promotes tanning without sunlight. Vitex agnus-castus extract contributes antioxidant properties thanks to its flavonoids and polyphenols, which protect cells from oxidative stress. The complex moisturises the skin thanks to glycerine, restoring its freshness and vitality. In practice, it is used at concentrations of around 2-5 % in bronzing balms and creams, where it helps achieve a natural-looking tan more quickly.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated and pale skin that needs hydration and a natural-looking bronze glow. It is also suitable for sensitive skin thanks to the soothing and antioxidant effects of chaste tree, as well as for mature skin, where it supports an even skin tone and protection against free radicals. It is less ideal for oily or acne-prone skin because of its alcohol content, but overall it benefits all skin types seeking safe self-tanning without UV risks.

Studies confirm the effectiveness of the ingredients: as a melanin precursor, acetyl tyrosine increases skin pigmentation in tanning products, resulting in a faster, more natural-looking tan (Lesielle, Acetyl Tyrosine in Skincare). Vitex agnus-castus extract shows significant antioxidant effects in laboratory tests, where it neutralises free radicals and protects cells, including skin cells (Puravia, Chaste Tree Benefits, 2023). Clinical observations show that chaste tree regulates hormones, indirectly supporting skin health in cases of hormonal imbalance (Praktické lékárenství, 2015).
