HYDRANOV ®

Sodium Carrageenan & Maris Sal

Oligofurcellaran Concentrate is an innovative cosmetic ingredient derived from red sea algae (Rhodophyta), specifically from furcellaran oligosaccharides extracted through a natural process. Combined with sea salt, this substance represents a bioactive extract from renewable marine resources, of non-synthetic origin. It occurs in natural aquatic environments and is known for its hygroscopic properties, which enable it to capture water molecules on the surface of the skin. It supports rehydration and overall skin restructuring by stimulating the production of the enzyme hyaluronan synthase, which is involved in hyaluronic acid synthesis in the epidermis. It prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and maintains an optimal level of hydration, thereby protecting the skin from the harmful effects of pollution and environmental stressors. This concentrated extract is highly stable and biologically compatible with human skin.

HYDRANOV acts as a hygroscopic activator of epidermal hyaluronic acid, intensely moisturising the skin by binding and gradually releasing water molecules, thereby restoring the skin barrier and reducing transepidermal water loss. It supports tissue restructuring by stimulating enzymatic hyaluronan synthesis, acts as an antioxidant protecting against free radicals, and soothes irritated skin. These mechanisms lead to long-lasting hydration, improved elasticity, and strengthened natural protection. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 1-3%, where it shows optimal efficacy without the risk of overloading the skin.

This ingredient is ideal for dry, dehydrated, sensitive, and mature skin, where it effectively combats moisture loss and aging. It is also recommended for acne-prone and oily skin, as it moisturises without clogging pores, supports healing, and minimises scars. It is suitable for all age groups exposed to pollution or dry environments, including the sensitive skin around the eyes. Its versatility makes it a key ingredient in anti-aging and hydrating products.

A clinical study confirms its effectiveness: application of furcellaran at a 2% concentration increased the synthesis of endogenous hyaluronic acid by 68% in human keratinocytes after 72 hours, leading to a 25% reduction in TEWL and improved skin hydration (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). Another study showed that oligofurcellaran at a 1.5% concentration restored the skin barrier by 40% in subjects with dry skin over 28 days (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2020). These data underline the scientifically supported restructuring power of HYDRANOV.
