Origin and background

This botanical ingredient comes from a traditional Japanese plant grown in northern Japan, specifically in the Shirakami region, home to one of the planet's last primeval forests. The plant is endemic to this area and is cultivated using traditional ancestral methods, strictly following the principles of organic farming. The ingredient is extracted using biotechnological processes that preserve its biologically active components. This natural plant extract is rich in polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds that play an important role in skin regeneration and protection.

Function and mechanism of action

This ingredient acts primarily as a powerful antioxidant and protects against free radical damage. Its main mechanism is to inhibit oxidative processes caused by UV radiation and high-energy visible light (HEV), also known as blue light. Its high polyphenol content helps reduce the harmful effects of oxidative stress on skin cells and protects the dermis and epidermis from damage. It also reactivates and supports type I collagen synthesis in the dermis, improving skin elasticity and maintaining a youthful appearance. In this way, the ingredient repairs accumulated damage in the deeper layers of the skin that develops before becoming visible on the surface.

This ingredient is ideal for mature skin showing signs of photoageing, including pigmentation spots and uneven skin tone. It is recommended for dry and dehydrated skin in need of protection and regeneration. Scientific evidence of efficacy

In vivo clinical tests demonstrated significant results after 28 to 56 days of use. There was a marked reduction in the number of deep pigmentation spots, along with improved radiance and skin lightening. The tests also documented a significant improvement in skin tone evenness, an improvement in deeper signs of ageing and a marked increase in skin elasticity compared with a placebo. These results confirm the ingredient's effectiveness with long-term use and its ability to address both visible and invisible signs of photoageing.
