Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil

The highest-quality type of oil from wheat. Wheat germ oil is obtained through a special technology that preserves all components with their original nutritional value. It is produced by cold pressing, a method that best preserves valuable substances. Wheat germ has exceptional nutritional value, which is transferred to the oil obtained during the first pressing. Wheat germ oil contains 50–55% linoleic acid and 35–38% oleic acid, lecithin, vitamins K and F, and provitamin D. It has a high vitamin E content: at least 200 mg per 100 g of natural alpha-tocopherol and 40 mg per 100 g of beta-tocopherol. It is unusually rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, chlorophyll, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and other biologically active components. Of all oils, it is the richest in vitamin E, germ lecithin, minerals, phytosterols, micro- and macroelements, which is why it also has its characteristic aroma. It contains a high proportion of essential fatty acids (50–70%), the female hormone estrogen, B vitamins (including B9—folic acid), a high proportion of natural vitamin E, provitamin D, vitamins K and F, proteins, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron. Thanks to these substances and the natural coenzyme Q10, this oil has an excellent effect on the skin.

The vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 it contains act as powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, supply cells with oxygen, and slow down skin aging. Lecithin supports freshness and elasticity, while essential fatty acids restore the skin’s lipid barrier and ensure intensive hydration. The oil moisturizes dry skin, soothes irritation, and protects against environmental influences. In concentrations of 1–5% in cosmetic formulations, it significantly improves the protective function of the skin barrier and supports cell regeneration.

It is especially recommended for dry, dehydrated, mature, and aging skin, where it effectively fights wrinkles and loss of elasticity. It is ideal for sensitive skin around the eyes, as well as for swelling, chapped lips, or inflammation. It is also suitable for normal to oily skin with the first signs of aging, where it provides nourishment without clogging pores. Pregnant women and people with gluten allergy are advised to test it in lower concentrations.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (2005) showed that topical application of wheat germ oil at a concentration of 3% increased skin hydration by 28% and reduced transepidermal water loss by 22% after 4 weeks of use. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012) states that vitamin E from this oil at a dose of 2% improved the elasticity of mature skin by 15% and reduced wrinkles by 12% over 8 weeks.
