The extracellular matrix in the dermis consists of a series of molecules that form a network around fibroblasts and provide structure and tone to the dermal layer. Three macromolecules play an essential role in structuring this matrix: collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans such as hyaluronic acid. These macromolecules are linked to create flexible support. The formation of wrinkles is caused by the disorganization of the matrix, accompanied by a decrease in the synthesis of elastin and collagen. Molecular synthesis is controlled by genes whose activity declines with age. Anti-aging involves reactivation of the genes for the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

The mechanism of action consists in reactivating the genes involved in the synthesis, maturation, assembly, and organization of collagen fibers in the extracellular matrix. It reactivates the genes for the synthesis, maturation, and organization of elastin fibers. At the same time, it reactivates the genes for hyaluronic acid synthesis. This restores the structure of the dermis, increasing the firmness and elasticity of the skin. Benefits appear after 2 weeks with a visible reduction in the depth of wrinkles on the forehead, nasolabial folds, and around the mouth.
