Pink clay

Illite

Pink clay is a natural mineral raw material extracted by mining from deposits in volcanic regions, such as in France or Australia. It contains a rich range of minerals, including iron oxide, potassium, silica, kaolin, illite, and montmorillonite, which give it its characteristic pink color and gentle properties. These clays have a lamellar structure with a large specific surface area, which ensures excellent absorption and adsorption capabilities, effectively binding impurities and toxins.

It acts as a gentle exfoliant that removes dead cells and improves skin texture, while also soothing irritation, reducing redness, and supporting skin cell renewal. It has detoxifying effects, absorbs excess sebum, tones the skin and revitalizes it, while also acting as an antioxidant and supporting the natural protective barrier. In masks, it is used in concentrations of 10-20% depending on skin type, with lower concentrations for sensitive skin.

It is especially recommended for dry, sensitive, mature, tired, or irritated skin prone to redness, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or acne. It is ideal for all skin types needing gentle revitalization, including dehydrated or dull skin, where it improves elasticity, firmness, and hydration. It is also suitable for the scalp in cases of dandruff or itching.

Studies confirm the beneficial effects of minerals in clays: kaolin and illite at concentrations of 5-15% in masks improved hydration of dry skin by 25% and reduced transepidermal water loss by 18% after 4 weeks (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). Another study showed that clays rich in iron oxide supported collagen synthesis by 20% in fibroblasts (International Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2015).
