Organic coffee
BIOCoffee Arabica
The Arabica coffee plant originates from the Ethiopian highlands and southwestern Arabia, where it grew wild in the Kaffa region. This species of the Rubiaceae family has become the most widespread in the world, accounting for 60-70% of global coffee production, and is cultivated in tropical regions such as Latin America, Kenya, and India. In its organic form, it is extracted from organically grown fruits without pesticides, preserving natural bioactive compounds such as caffeine, polyphenols, and oils. Historically, roasted beans were consumed as early as the 9th century in Ethiopia; later, it spread as a medicinal plant to Arabia and then to the rest of the world.
This ingredient acts multifunctionally: antioxidants such as polyphenols and tocopherols protect cells from oxidative stress and UV damage, filtering harmful rays (280-320 nm); caffeine increases blood microcirculation, stimulates hair growth by inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase, and supports collagen production; linoleic acid restores the skin barrier and speeds wound healing; cafestol and kahweol have a lipolytic effect on fat cells, reducing cellulite; ground beans exfoliate and remove dead cells. Caffeine is absorbed into the skin within 5 minutes, at most within 1 hour, in commercial products typically at a concentration of 3%.
It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, mature skin with sagging or loss of elasticity, where it supports regeneration and firmness; for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties; for sensitive skin with UV damage or inflammation; and for problem areas with cellulite, stretch marks, or dark circles under the eyes. It is ideal for all skin types seeking anti-aging, revitalizing effects, especially in home peels or anti-cellulite products.
A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry (2007) showed that caffeine at a concentration of 0.1% inhibits ATR kinase phosphorylation, thereby protecting human keratinocytes from UVB-induced DNA damage by 80-90%. Further research in the International Journal of Dermatology (2013) showed that topical 3% caffeine improved microcirculation by 25% after 4 weeks of application, supporting skin elasticity.
