Booster for deep hydration and brighter-looking skin

A concentrated booster with 20% niacinamide helps keep skin hydrated for longer, supports its protective barrier and smooths uneven texture. It helps even skin tone, reduce the appearance of pigmentation and refine the look of enlarged pores. It also helps regulate sebum, bringing a more balanced appearance to both dry and oily skin. Dull, tired-looking skin looks fresher, smoother and more radiant after application.

This booster is not a serum to be used on its own. For each application, mix 1-3 drops into one dose of the product recommended in MyLab personalisation. The booster’s lightweight, concentrated formula blends easily with the product, adding targeted care without an extra step in your routine.

MyLab personalisation with a booster

Boosters are highly concentrated products created to personalise your skincare with targeted care. They add the highly active care your skin currently needs to your chosen product, without you having to change your entire routine.

  1. Choose the product you want to personalise.
  2. MyLab will recommend a suitable booster based on your skin’s current needs.
  3. Mix 1-3 drops of booster into one dose of the product in your hand as recommended by your personalisation.

The result is skincare tailored specifically to your skin. Always add the booster to one dose of serum, cream, cleanser or eye care immediately before use. Do not add it directly to the whole product.

What the booster helps with

  • Dehydrated skin: helps hydrate skin deeply and promote a smoother appearance. In a study of 132 women, skin was measurably more hydrated just 8 hours after application.
  • Dull, tired-looking skin: helps revive the appearance of skin straight away and supports its natural radiance with regular use.
  • Oily, blemish-prone skin: helps regulate sebum and visibly improve skin texture. In a four-week study of 100 volunteers, sebum production decreased after just 2 weeks. After eight weeks, the number of blemishes also decreased in a study of 132 women.
  • Uneven skin tone and pigmentation: helps even skin tone and promote a brighter appearance. In a study of 42 women, visible pigmentation was reduced after just 8 weeks.
  • Blemish-prone skin: supports a clearer-looking complexion and helps reduce the appearance of post-blemish marks.

Who it’s for

The 20% Niacinamide Booster is suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin. It is especially suitable for:

  • dehydrated skin that lacks moisture and elasticity,
  • dull, tired-looking skin lacking natural radiance,
  • skin with pigmentation and uneven tone,
  • oily skin with excess shine,
  • skin with visible pores and uneven texture,
  • blemish-prone skin.

Key ingredients

  • Niacinamide 20% (vitamin B3): a highly concentrated, stable form of vitamin B3 with a broad range of benefits. It supports the production of the skin’s own lipids, strengthens the protective barrier and helps skin retain moisture more effectively. It also regulates sebum, smooths texture, refines the look of pores and helps limit the transfer of pigment to the skin’s surface cells. As a result, skin looks more hydrated, smoother, brighter and more even in tone. In a randomised study of 132 women with oily, blemish-prone skin, hydration improved just 8 hours after application. After 8 weeks, skin texture had also improved and the number of blemishes had decreased. In another double-blind, placebo-controlled study, a formula with just 2% niacinamide helped reduce sebum production. In a randomised, double-blind study of 42 women, the formula also reduced the appearance of pigmentation after 8 weeks.

Texture

The ultra-light, liquid texture is easy to measure out drop by drop and blends instantly with serum, cream or eye care. It doesn’t add oiliness or heaviness and leaves skin feeling fresh and comfortable, without a sticky film.

How to use

Add 1-3 drops of booster to one dose of your favourite product, as recommended in MyLab personalisation. Mix evenly in your palm and apply as directed for the product you are personalising.

Do not use the booster on its own or add it to the whole product. When using it around the eyes, mix it only with a product intended for this area. Avoid direct contact with the eyes and do not use on irritated or damaged skin. Do not exceed the recommended dose – more drops do not mean better results.

Propanediol Propanediol

Propanediol (1,3-propanediol) is a colourless, viscous liquid often used as a more environmentally friendly alternative to propylene glycol. It has excellent hydrating properties, making it useful in cosmetics such as creams, serums and facial toners, where it acts as a humectant and solvent. In industry, it also serves as a raw material for producing polymers and biodegradable plastics. It is well tolerated by the skin and is considered a safe, gentle ingredient. This substance is obtained by fermenting natural sources, such as corn sugar or glucose from plant materials, making it a renewable alternative to petrochemical glycols. Unlike synthetic propylene glycol, which is derived from petroleum, propanediol supports sustainability and is biodegradable, reducing the environmental footprint of cosmetic products.

Propanediol acts primarily as a humectant, hydrating the skin by binding water from its surroundings and preventing its loss through transepidermal evaporation. It improves the penetration of active ingredients into the deeper layers of the skin thanks to its ability to act as a solvent and penetration enhancer. It supports skin barrier repair by increasing hydration and elasticity without causing irritation. At concentrations of 2-10 %, it significantly improves the sensory properties of formulations, reduces the stickiness of other humectants such as glycerine, and contributes to the overall stability of emulsions.

This ingredient is ideal for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and oily skin, including acne-prone and mature skin. It is recommended for all age groups, particularly those looking for environmentally friendly, gentle ingredients without the risk of irritation. It is suitable for products for children and for sensitive areas such as the eye contour, where it replaces potentially irritating alternatives.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) demonstrated that propanediol at a concentration of 5 % improved skin hydration by 25 % after 4 weeks of application compared with a placebo, as measured by corneometry. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that at a concentration of 3-7 %, it increased the penetration of niacinamide into the skin by 40 %, enhancing its hydrating and barrier-supporting effects.

Vitamin B3 Niacin

Niacin, or vitamin B3, belongs to the B vitamin complex. Vitamin B3 is a collective term for nicotinic acid and niacin. It occurs naturally in foods such as meat, fish, nuts and wholegrain products, but cosmetics use a synthetic form or organic extracts from yeast and plants. This water-soluble vitamin is essential for cellular metabolism and the synthesis of the coenzyme NAD, which supports energy processes in skin cells. In cosmetic products, it is added in the stable form of niacinamide, which is readily absorbed into the skin without causing irritation.

It protects the skin and improves its health. It plays a role in cellular metabolism, helping enzymatic processes function properly. Its mechanism of action includes moisturising the skin by increasing the synthesis of ceramides and free fatty acids, thereby restoring the skin barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties that neutralise free radicals and protect against oxidative stress. It soothes inflammation by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and promotes exfoliation by regulating keratinisation. Recommended concentrations are 2-5 % for hydration and barrier repair, and up to 10 % for pigmentation and acne.

Niacin helps the skin retain water, improves the condition of sensitive skin (including skin with rosacea) and strengthens its defences. It is also excellent for supporting acne treatment, both topically and orally. It is useful even for severe forms of acne. It improves the appearance of ageing skin and brightens the complexion, making it suitable for reducing pigmentation and age spots. It plumps and hydrates the skin and prevents water loss. Its benefits extend well beyond our skin and hair. I recommend it for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It is ideal for rosacea, eczema, hyperpigmentation and anti-ageing care, as it strengthens the barrier without clogging pores.

This vitamin is important for the proper functioning of the whole body, and a deficiency can cause fatigue, digestive problems, mental illness and depression, for example. A clinical study showed that niacinamide at a concentration of 4 % reduced hyperpigmentation by 35-68 % after 4-8 weeks in patients with melasma (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2004). Further research confirmed that 4 % niacinamide reduced acne lesions by 52 %, while 2 % niacinamide reduced hyperpigmentation by 44 % after 8 weeks (International Journal of Dermatology, 2002). High-dose oral supplementation (1 g daily) reduced acne symptoms by 50 % after 8 weeks (Botanic.sk study).

A small container designed for maximum precision

When choosing packaging for LucyLab, our main consideration is how well it supports the product itself. With highly concentrated formulas, we need to protect the recipe while allowing a small amount to be applied precisely where the skin needs it. That’s why we chose Injector Airless 5 ml – a compact airless cosmetic container with a premium design and an exceptionally precise applicator.

Airless system for better protection of active ingredients

Airless technology uses an internal piston that pushes the product towards the applicator as it is dispensed, without a conventional dip tube. This significantly limits repeated exposure of the cosmetic formula to air and helps protect sensitive active ingredients from oxidation. The closed system also reduces contact between the contents, hands and the external environment. Better product protection allows us to use gentle preservative systems without relying solely on intensive chemical preservation to keep the formula stable.

Precise 0.17 ml dose

Injector Airless 5 ml dispenses approximately 0.17 ml of product per press. The narrow applicator makes it easy to apply a small amount of serum or intensive treatment precisely, without scooping up the product with your fingers. Application is therefore simple, clean, hygienic and controlled – with minimal waste.

A compact format you can keep close at hand

With a diameter of approximately 23 mm and a height of 115 mm, this 5 ml airless container is slim, lightweight and practical for travel. Its small capacity is ideal for concentrated cosmetics that require only a small amount of product.

Thoughtful materials for modern cosmetics

The design mainly uses PP, PETG and PE – materials used in modern cosmetic packaging and accepted by the COSMOS standard. Individual plastic components can be recycled in line with the facilities available in your local recycling system. When choosing packaging, LucyLab follows the principles of the COSMOS and ECOCERT standards, as well as manufacturing quality supported by ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems. The result is a combination of airless protection, precise dispensing, hygienic application and premium minimalist design.
