Cools and soothes skin after shaving and hair removal

This lightweight facial balm gives skin an immediate feeling of freshness and comfort after shaving. The combination of BIO aloe vera and the active prickly pear extract AquaCacteen™ helps reduce redness, soothe irritation and replenish moisture. BIO calendula, rosehip and castor oils nourish the skin, leaving it smooth, supple and cared for without a greasy residue. The fresh coolness of mint is complemented by the masculine, woody scent of Atlas cedar and lavender. The balm can be used after every shave or daily instead of a lightweight face cream.

What the balm helps with

  • Redness after shaving: helps reduce redness, leaving skin pleasantly cool and quickly relieving discomfort. BIO aloe vera and AquaCacteen™ soothe the skin, while mint provides a refreshing sensation.
  • Irritation after shaving and hair removal: restores comfort to stressed skin and leaves it smooth and supple. Calendula, rosehip and castor oils are particularly effective.
  • Small spots after shaving: helps soothe the skin and prevent small spots from appearing after shaving. AquaCacteen™ and BIO aloe vera provide relief, while the lightweight texture moisturises without weighing skin down.

Who it’s for

This soothing aftershave balm is suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin, for men and women. It is especially suitable for:

  • men who want to quickly soothe and cool their skin after shaving,
  • skin prone to redness and small spots after shaving,
  • irritated skin that needs moisture and softening,
  • anyone after epilation or depilation.

Key ingredients

  • BIO aloe vera juice: the base of the balm, which moisturises the skin and helps restore comfort after shaving. In a study of cosmetic products, aloe vera extract increased the amount of water in the skin’s surface layer after 1 week of regular use.
  • AquaCacteen™: an active ingredient from the Mexican cactus Opuntia ficus-indica, which helps soothe irritation, reduce redness and keep the skin hydrated. In a study involving 20 men, the cream significantly reduced redness just 1 hour after repeated wet shaving.
  • Natural vitamin E: an antioxidant that provides antioxidant care and helps protect the skin. In a study involving 15 female volunteers, the product reduced markers of oxidative stress and structural damage in the skin after 4 days of application.
  • BIO calendula oil: an extract of calendula flowers. It nourishes stressed skin, helps soothe it and supports care for its natural protective barrier.
  • BIO rosehip oil: cold-pressed oil from rosehip fruits. It is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which nourish the skin and help it look smooth and supple.
  • BIO castor oil: softens the skin and forms a protective layer on its surface, helping to reduce moisture loss.
  • Glycerin: a humectant that binds water in the skin’s surface layers and helps keep it hydrated, supple and comfortable.

The formula is complemented by essential oils of lavender, Atlas cedar and mint, rosemary extract and an ECOCERT-certified olive-derived emulsifier, which gives the balm its lightweight, creamy texture without a greasy residue.

Texture

The lightweight, creamy texture spreads easily, absorbs quickly and leaves skin feeling pleasantly cool without a greasy residue. The fresh, woody scent of Atlas cedar is rounded off with a gently sweet touch of mint.

How to use

Apply a thin layer to clean skin after shaving. You can also use it after epilation or depilation, or at any time during the day as a lightweight day cream.
The balm comes in an airless pump dispenser: it dispenses cleanly in any position, so there’s no need to scoop the product out with your fingers.

Organic aloe vera juice Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice BIO

The earliest records of aloe vera as a medicinal plant date back thousands of years to ancient Egypt. Hippocrates also used aloe vera in his treatments, and Christopher Columbus called it the “doctor in a pot”. Aloe barbadensis is the most precious and sought-after variety of aloe vera among around 300 species of this plant. Cleopatra herself used its beauty benefits to help maintain her beauty and keep her skin and body fresh and full of vitality. Aloe vera is a source of a wide range of vital elements, including vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E), minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chlorine, as well as manganese, copper, zinc and chromium), amino acids (aloe vera contains as many as eight essential amino acids), and even enzymes, lectins and saponins – active substances that act against viruses, bacteria, fungi and infections. “Cleansing” lignin allows substances to penetrate deep into the skin. Anthraquinones help relieve pain and combat bacterial growth and viruses. The juice of this plant has adaptogenic properties, meaning that each cell in the human body uses only the substances it currently needs. To preserve these nutritional qualities, found in the gel-like substance inside the aloe vera leaf, the plant must be grown and processed correctly to prevent oxidation, which reduces its beneficial substances. When exposed to oxygen for more than 4 hours, the gel-like substance in the leaf oxidises and loses its value (you may recognise a similar reaction in a freshly cut apple, which quickly turns brown). Aloe must be stabilised. Stabilisation is a patented cold process that ensures the aloe stays just as it would be if you had freshly cut the leaf yourself. This process uses neither heat (stabilisation takes place at around 30 °C) nor chemicals, as these would destroy aloe vera's active components. Aloe vera protects the body from the harmful effects of oxygen free radicals, repairs and regenerates damaged cells and tissue, and can guide immune cells to the site of damage. Aloe vera has powerful detoxifying properties that help the body remove waste materials, toxins and bacteria, including from your digestive system.

Aloe vera juice intensely hydrates the skin thanks to polysaccharides, which form a protective film and lock moisture deep within the skin without leaving a greasy feel. It restores the skin barrier through vitamins and minerals that support cell regeneration and collagen production. As an antioxidant, it protects vitamins C, E and beta-carotene from free radicals, slowing skin ageing. It gently exfoliates thanks to enzymes that remove dead skin cells, and soothes irritation with anti-inflammatory compounds such as acemannan. Studies show that at concentrations above 1 %, it significantly improves hydration and regeneration.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. Ideal for reactive skin after sun exposure, shaving or treatments, where it soothes redness. For acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and cleanses pores without clogging them. For mature skin, it supports elasticity and reduces wrinkles.

A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment (2009) showed that aloe vera gel at a concentration of 0,5 % accelerated wound healing by 72 % compared with the control group after 12 days. Another study in Skin Pharmacology and Physiology (2014) showed that aloe vera at a concentration of 1 % increased collagen synthesis by 25 % in a culture of human fibroblasts.

Organic Calendula Oil Calendula Officinalis – Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil BIO

This healing oil made from calendula and organic sunflower oil supports the skin’s regenerative, antiseptic and antimicrobial processes. It contains many biologically active substances – flavonoids, essential oils, carotenoids, lycopene, xanthophylls, polysaccharides, saponins, terpenoids, coumarins, sterols, amino acids, numerous substances with antioxidant properties, calendulin, calendulosides A-F, lupeol and quercetin. It contains a large amount of natural iodine, as well as manganese. This organic extract is obtained by macerating calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis) in high-quality sunflower oil (Helianthus annuus), preserving its natural properties without chemical processing. Cold extraction minimises the loss of sensitive compounds and preserves the full potency of the plant’s bioactive substances.

It works by soothing irritated skin, restoring the skin barrier, providing antioxidant protection against free radicals and supporting cell regeneration. Flavonoids and carotenoids such as lycopene and quercetin neutralise oxidative stress, while polysaccharides and saponins provide moisturising and exfoliating properties. The oil supports the formation of new cells and accelerates wound healing through antimicrobial compounds such as calendulosides. The recommended concentration in cosmetic formulations is 5-20 % for optimal results without sensitisation.

Ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated, acne-prone and mature skin, as well as skin affected by eczema, burns or slow-healing wounds. I particularly recommend it for babies’ sensitive skin, people with atopic dermatitis and adults with oily, acne-prone skin, where it reduces inflammation and clogged pores. Its light texture does not weigh the skin down, making it suitable for anyone looking for a natural alternative to synthetic healing treatments.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2011) demonstrated that calendula extract at a concentration of 2 % significantly accelerated wound healing in rats, with the treated group showing a 68 % reduction in inflammatory markers after just 7 days compared with the control group. Further research in Phytotherapy Research (2008) reports that calendula carotenoids at a dose of 10 mg/kg reduced oedema by 45 % and supported collagen formation in a model of skin inflammation.

Vitamin C supports collagen production, while vitamin E hydrates the skin. Several types of beneficial fatty acids are important building blocks for skin cells. Rosehip oil is a so-called dry oil, meaning it absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a greasy feel. Its action includes moisturising through omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, restoring the skin barrier through polyunsaturated fatty acids, providing powerful antioxidant protection against free radicals through vitamins A, C and E, supporting healing and cell regeneration to promote collagen and elastin production, and delivering soothing anti-inflammatory effects. The recommended concentration in cosmetics is 5-20 % for optimal results without sensitisation.

Rosehip oil is ideal for dry, sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin, as well as acne-prone and oily skin with acne scars, eczema or psoriasis. I recommend it for people with visible wrinkles, dark spots, stretch marks or scars, where it supports healing and evens out skin tone. It is suitable for all age groups looking to prevent skin ageing, especially women over 30 with the first signs of photoageing.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy (2015) showed that applying rosehip oil at a concentration of 10 % twice daily reduced the visibility of acne scars by 22 % and improved skin elasticity by 15 % after 12 weeks. Further research in Phytotherapy Research (2008) confirmed that transdermal application of the oil increases collagen synthesis by 25 % in subjects with dry skin, thanks to its vitamin C and polyunsaturated fatty acid content.

Olivem®1000 Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate

This Ecocert-certified olive emulsifier is a 100 % organic, non-ionic, PEG-free plant-based emulsifier made from olive oil. An emulsifier is an agent that allows two or more liquids that do not normally mix, such as water and oil, to form an emulsion by reducing surface tension. It has excellent moisturising properties and helps soften the skin. It reduces moisture loss and is hypoallergenic. It is obtained from olive oil through the esterification of fatty acids, sorbitol and cetearyl alcohol. Sorbitol belongs to a group of sugar alcohols that occur naturally in fruit and vegetables (apples, pears, cherries, grapes...). It is a natural sweetener. Cetearyl alcohol is an emulsifier of 100 % plant origin that creates creamy, softening textures without a greasy film, leaving a pleasant feel on the skin. This emulsifier comes exclusively from plant sources, specifically olive oil, contains no synthetic additives and meets strict standards for organic extracts. The production process involves physical and biotechnological methods, such as esterification, that preserve the natural nutritional value and beneficial compounds.

It works by forming stable emulsions, reducing the surface tension between water and oil to create uniform creams and lotions. Its olive fatty acid content provides intensive moisture, restores the skin's lipid barrier by mimicking its natural structure and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Polyphenols from olive oil give it antioxidant properties, while it soothes irritated skin and gently softens it without leaving a greasy film. The recommended concentration in formulations is 2-6 % for optimal emulsification and hydration.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it effectively restores the barrier and retains moisture. It is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its non-comedogenic composition and light texture, which does not clog pores. Ideal for all skin types looking for natural, hypoallergenic emulsifiers in organic cosmetics.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that olive ester-based emulsifiers at a concentration of 4 % reduced TEWL by 28 % after 4 weeks of application to dry skin and improved hydration by 35 % (compared with the control). Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) reports that Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate at a concentration of 3-5 % increase skin elasticity by 22 % and support skin barrier repair in individuals with atopic dermatitis.

Dulcia natural uses a high-quality olive emulsifier that meets the most stringent COSMOS certification. A prestigious international certification for natural and organic cosmetics.

Castor oil Ricinus Communis Seed Oil BIO

Castor oil has regenerating, moisturising and healing properties. Its moisturising effects make it particularly helpful. Women concerned about wrinkles on their face and neck will also appreciate it. Castor oil contains a high proportion of vitamin E, minerals, proteins and other important nutrients. It contains the unique ricinoleic acid, which binds moisture in the skin. It supports the skin’s natural regeneration, softens it and helps prevent further wrinkles from forming. It has a pronounced strengthening effect on the skin of both the face and body. It regenerates the skin, locks in moisture and protects against premature ageing. It eliminates dermatitis and various forms of eczema and significantly reduces the appearance of scars. This oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor plant, a tropical plant native to Africa. It is a 100 % natural ingredient with no synthetic origin, also available in organically grown BIO quality. Simple mechanical pressing preserves the full range of beneficial substances from the plant.

Castor oil acts as a powerful moisturiser, binding water in the skin thanks to its high concentration of ricinoleic acid, which makes up as much as 90 % of its composition. It restores the skin barrier by locking in moisture and supporting cell regeneration. It has pronounced antioxidant effects thanks to vitamin E, which protects against free radicals. It soothes irritated skin and has anti-inflammatory properties that help with dermatitis and eczema. At concentrations of 5-10 % in creams or balms, it significantly improves hydration and elasticity.

It is particularly recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, providing intensive hydration and reducing wrinkles. It is ideal for skin affected by eczema, dermatitis or acne scars, as it supports healing and softens the appearance of marks. It is also suitable for oily skin at low concentrations, strengthening the barrier without clogging pores. It helps women going through menopause combat premature ageing and supports men’s facial skincare.

A clinical study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2011) showed that castor oil at concentrations of 2-5 %, applied topically for 4 weeks, significantly reduced inflammation in skin lesions by 68 % in patients with dermatitis, as measured by reductions in redness and itching. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2018) confirmed that ricinoleic acid inhibits the expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α by 45-60 % in vitro, thereby supporting the healing of wounds and scars.

Glycerin Glycerin

Produced from coconut oil, it is a natural water-binding substance that also occurs in the body. Its main properties are hydrating and restorative, and it creates a protective barrier against dryness. It leaves a soft, silky, supple layer on the skin and prevents moisture loss, helping to build the skin's protective barrier. Its concentration in the finished product is important. In addition to coconut oil, it can also be obtained from vegetable oils such as palm or soya oil through hydrolysis, or as a by-product of biodiesel production. It belongs to a group of humectants that can bind up to 1000 times their weight in water from their surroundings, ensuring long-lasting hydration. It occurs naturally in the skin as part of the natural moisturising factors (NMF) that make up the outermost layer of the epidermis. It can also be produced synthetically for greater purity in cosmetics, although the natural form is preferred in organic products. It supports skin elasticity by improving the penetration of other active ingredients into deeper layers.

As a humectant, it intensely moisturises the skin by attracting and binding water molecules from the environment and the lower layers of the skin. It restores the skin barrier by forming a protective film that minimises transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and protects against environmental factors such as dry air and pollution. It has a mild soothing effect on irritated skin and supports its regeneration. At concentrations of 5-20 % in serums or creams, it significantly increases hydration; with 10 % glycerine, moisture loss was reduced by 25 % after 24 hours (Journal of Cosmetic Science, 2018). At lower concentrations (below 5 %), it acts as a solubiliser for essential oils.

It is recommended for dry, dehydrated, sensitive and mature skin, where it prevents wrinkles caused by dehydration. At low concentrations, it is also suitable for oily and acne-prone skin, as it does not leave a greasy film and regulates hydration without clogging pores. It is ideal for atopic dermatitis or eczema, where it supports barrier repair. During the winter months or in dry environments, it is invaluable for all skin types, especially for children and older people with thin skin.

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2015) showed that a 20 % glycerine solution increased skin hydration by 40 % after 7 days of application in women with dry skin. Further research in the British Journal of Dermatology (2008) reports that glycerine at a concentration of 6 %, combined with lipids, restored the skin barrier 30 % faster than a placebo in patients with eczema.

Natural vitamin E Tocopherol

100 % natural vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant containing a blend of alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols. Vitamin E helps protect the skin from UV damage and improves skin texture and moisture levels. Our natural vitamin E contains no chemicals or solvents. Vitamin E supports the skin’s defences and fights the signs of skin ageing – it can improve texture, smooth the skin, increase elasticity, reduce wrinkles and help prevent age spots. It is derived from plant oils such as wheat germ, sunflower and hazelnut oils, in which it naturally occurs at high concentrations, for example 149 mg per 100 g in wheat germ oil. It is a purely natural organic extract with no synthetic additives, retaining its full biological activity.

It renews cells, boosts circulation in the skin and helps retain water in the upper layers of the skin. This vitamin has a very beneficial effect on overall skin vitality, helps with various forms of inflammation and damage, and contributes to scar healing. Vitamin E is the best natural antioxidant. It neutralises free radicals in the skin, slowing the ageing process and reducing fine lines. This vitamin is particularly suitable for use during summer, as it protects the skin from the effects of UV radiation. It works by neutralising free radicals, restoring the skin barrier, providing deep hydration by binding moisture in the stratum corneum and strengthening the protective barrier, offering antioxidant protection against UV and pollution, and soothing inflammation through its anti-inflammatory action. At concentrations of 0,5-5 % in cosmetics, it significantly improves hydration and elasticity.

It is recommended for dry, sensitive, mature and dehydrated skin, as well as skin exposed to environmental stress, sunlight or ageing. It is ideal for those seeking natural protection against wrinkles, pigmentation spots and loss of elasticity, including those with acne-prone skin and scarring, thanks to its healing properties.

A study by Gensler et al. showed that applying d-alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate to the skin reduces lipid peroxide formation and oxidative stress, protecting skin cells from damage and providing photoprotective effects. Further research confirms that vitamin E combined with vitamin C increases protection against UVA radiation and supports collagen production. These findings highlight its effectiveness at concentrations commonly used in cosmetics.

Organic preservative compound Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Benzyl alcohol

First of all, we would like to explain that cosmetic products do need preservatives to prevent microbial growth, product spoilage and potential skin infections that may have long-term adverse effects on your skin. Protecting the product from spoilage, and therefore protecting you, is extremely important. It is equally important to us that the preservative system is mild and gentle and has absolutely no negative impact on your health. Our packaging also plays a significant role in gentle preservation, allowing us to use the lowest concentration of the preservative blend. This blend consists of organic acids and benzyl alcohol obtained through natural processes without synthetic chemicals, in accordance with strict organic farming and certification standards. The components originate from plant sources or microbial processes: dehydroacetic acid is produced through glucose fermentation, benzoic and sorbic acids are isolated from berries or strawberries, and benzyl alcohol from plant essential oils such as ylang-ylang or jasmine. These organic extracts are certified as natural and organic, free from GMOs and pesticides.

The organic preservative blend works by acidifying its environment, lowering the pH to 4-5,5, a level that inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds. The synergistic effect of the blend ensures broad-spectrum protection: dehydroacetic acid inhibits fungal enzymes, benzoic and sorbic acids penetrate the cell membranes of microorganisms and disrupt their metabolism, while benzyl alcohol disrupts cell walls. The typical concentration is 0,2-1 %, depending on the formulation, which minimises the potential for irritation when used with airless packaging. This system contains no parabens, formaldehyde releasers or isothiazolinones, protecting the integrity of natural ingredients without compromising stability.

We recommend this blend for all skin types – dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated or mature – particularly in organic cosmetics for families with children and people with allergies. It is ideal for those looking for a gentle alternative to synthetic preservatives, without the risk of sensitisation at low concentrations. A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2014) confirms that a blend of dehydroacetic acid (0,5 %), benzoic acid (0,3 %) and benzyl alcohol (0,2 %) achieved a 99,9 % reduction in Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in emulsions at pH 5,5 without affecting the product's rheology (Darr et al., 2014). Further research in the Journal of Applied Microbiology (2009) showed that sorbic acid used in combination (0,1 %) produced a 4 log reduction in Aspergillus niger within 7 days.

Dulcia natural uses a natural, environmentally friendly system to protect cosmetic products that complies with Ecocert and COSMOS standards. It has been developed to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination. It is designed to provide broad-spectrum protection using optimised, innovative synergistic blends, with environmental responsibility and sustainable development in mind. It is an organically certified formulation designed to protect products and people. All components are included on the lists of preservatives approved for natural and organic cosmetics by the world's most prestigious certification bodies.

AquaCacteen™ Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract (and) Glycerin (and) Aqua / Water BIO

Opuntia ficus-indica is a succulent cactus native to Mexico, also known as prickly pear, nopal or Indian fig. The use of prickly pear as food and medicine dates back to the Aztecs of pre-Hispanic Mexico, who revered it as a sacred plant. Prickly pear contains piscidic acid, an excellent iron chelator. It also contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 and C, and the minerals potassium, calcium and magnesium. This is an organic BIO ingredient from Fair trade production with ECOCERT, NATURE and COSMOS certifications, obtained by extracting the plant's stems using glycerine and water to preserve its bioactive compounds.

This ingredient blocks the release of stress markers from sensory nerve cells in the skin, helping to soothe the skin and relieve irritation. It has excellent moisturising properties thanks to its high content of water-binding compounds, including polysaccharides and glycerine. It soothes and firms the skin and protects it from UV damage. In vitro tests demonstrated inhibition of the release of stress factors, reducing skin sensitivity and reactivity. In vivo tests confirmed a soothing effect after shaving, long-term relief from irritation, firming of UV-damaged skin and hydration even in rinse-off products. Clinical studies on men and women showed exceptional skin-soothing and firming effects. The recommended concentration in formulations is 1-3 % for optimal results.

It is particularly recommended for sensitive, irritated, dry and dehydrated skin, as well as skin exposed to stress or UV radiation, or after hair removal. It is also suitable for reactive skin prone to redness, oily skin prone to inflammation and mature skin in need of firming and hydration. It is well suited to serums, creams, aftershave gels and rinse-off cleansers.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2010) demonstrated that Opuntia ficus-indica extract at a concentration of 2 % reduced the release of neuropeptides (stress markers) by 68 % in human-derived nerve cells in vitro, significantly soothing reactive skin. Another clinical study in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2012), involving 20 volunteers, showed that applying a 1 % solution for 28 days increased skin hydration by 25 % and reduced redness by 40 %, as measured with a spectrophotometer. These results confirm its effectiveness in long-term skincare.

Cedarwood essential oil Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil

It is obtained by steam distillation from the bark of the reddish-brown wood of the Atlas cedar – a majestic evergreen conifer that grows to a height of 40 – 50 metres. Its name comes from a Semitic root meaning “strength” or “power”, an apt description of this imposing tree. It grows mainly in the mountainous regions of North Africa, such as the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, where it adapts to the harsh conditions of a dry climate and poor soils. This **organic extract** is obtained exclusively from natural sources without synthetic intervention, preserving its full range of active compounds, including sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes, which contribute to its characteristic properties. It has a distinctive woody scent with a subtle camphor note. Its warm, balsamic aroma helps us draw on strength and wisdom. In cosmetics, it is used as a concentrated essential oil that requires careful dosing due to its high potency.

Cedar essential oil is valued for its **soothing, cleansing and antiseptic properties**, which help strengthen the skin overall. It works through its **antibacterial and antifungal action**, which eliminates acne-causing pathogens, as well as its **astringent effect**, which tightens pores and regulates sebum production. It **soothes irritation**, reduces inflammation and supports skin barrier regeneration by stimulating collagen production and improving microcirculation. It also has **antioxidant properties** thanks to its polyphenol content, which protects against free radicals. In cosmetics, concentrations of 0,5 – 2 % in emulsions or 0,1 – 0,5 % in hydrosols are recommended for optimal results without irritation.

It is particularly recommended for **oily, blemish-prone and acne-prone skin**, where it effectively tackles spots and inflammation. It is also ideal for **sensitive and irritated skin** after shaving or hair removal, as well as for **mature skin** showing signs of sagging, where it tones and firms the muscles. Suitable for men and women prone to ingrown hairs, or for dehydrated skin in need of deep cleansing. It is not recommended for very dry skin without moisturisers.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2014) showed that **Cedrus atlantica oil at a concentration of 1 % inhibits the growth of Propionibacterium acnes by 68 % in vitro**, confirming its effectiveness against acne. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2009) reports that **applying a 2 % solution to the skin reduces sebum production by 25 % after 4 weeks** in individuals with oily skin. These data support its clinical use in dermatology.

rosemary extract Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract

Rosemary is an evergreen shrub with an intense camphor-like, spicy scent and a bitter taste. This aromatic herb is native to the warm, sunny Mediterranean, although it can be grown almost anywhere as long as you bring it indoors during the cold winter months. Its green, needle-like leaves have various uses in cooking and natural medicine, which uses fresh or dried herbs to prepare teas, tinctures or capsules containing dried powdered extract. The extract is obtained from the leaves, flowers or whole plant in the form of infusions, oils or hydrolats, and may be natural, organic or, in rare cases, synthetically modified for stability in cosmetics. Rosemary is rich in vitamins C and B6 and minerals such as iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium and manganese, contributing to its wide range of uses in skin and hair care.

Rosemary extract contains essential oil (whose main constituents are terpenes and terpene esters, including borneol and cineole), tannins, bitter compounds, resin, saponins and other substances such as rosmarinic and caffeic acids. It supports circulation, helps promote calm and relieves nervous exhaustion. Rosemary extract reduces skin swelling and acne, and also helps with eczema. It supports circulation. It has antimicrobial properties that destroy bacteria, fungi and viruses, giving it antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. As a powerful antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals, protects cells from oxidative stress and supports collagen production. It stimulates cell renewal, improves skin hydration, strengthens the skin barrier and regulates sebum production. Typical concentrations in cosmetics range from 0,5 % to 2 % in serums and creams for optimal effects without irritation.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone and blemish-prone skin with enlarged pores, sensitive skin prone to inflammation, eczema or dermatitis, and mature skin showing signs of ageing. It is also suitable for dehydrated or tired skin, helping to revitalise and tone it. In scalp care, it is ideal for dandruff, oiliness or weakened hair, helping to stimulate growth and cleanse the scalp. Those with highly sensitive skin should start with lower concentrations, as the essential oil may cause irritation.

Rosemary extract has properties that destroy bacteria, fungi and viruses on the skin, making it ideal for use on minor wounds and burns, or on problem skin affected by dermatitis, acne, eczema or psoriasis. The oil helps stimulate cell renewal and supports healthy healing, while also moisturising the skin and improving circulation in the skin. It has many benefits, from hydrating the skin and supporting healthy collagen development to fighting free radicals that damage the skin. The antioxidants in rosemary help prevent skin damage and enhance skin toning by neutralising free radicals. Free radical damage disrupts the skin's supporting structure, leading to wrinkles, sagging and uneven skin tone. This aromatic herb is a good source of iron, calcium and vitamin B6, which supports healthy collagen levels. Rosemary is also a rich source of manganese, a mineral that helps minimise wrinkles and protects the skin from damage. Rosemary extract is up to 1,6 times more effective as an antioxidant than vitamin E thanks to its caffeic and rosmarinic acids (Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2001). Rosmarinic acid at a concentration of 0,01 % inhibits the growth of acne-associated bacteria by 90 % in vitro (Phytotherapy Research, 2013).

Common lavender Lavandula Angustifolia Oil

Lavender is an aromatic medicinal plant. This beautiful, lush shrub grows mainly on the sunny slopes of the Mediterranean, where it was valued by the ancient Egyptians for embalming and in perfumes. Its wonderful scent never tires and always surprises with its boundless energy, revitalising a tired body and soothing muscular and nervous tension. Lavender supports the skin's natural defences, soothes skin after sun exposure and has a beneficial effect on burns. Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is used to treat eczema and fungal infections. It supports the healing of damaged skin and is an excellent insect repellent. Obtained by distilling the flowers of narrow-leaved lavender, it is 100% natural and environmentally friendly. It contains phytosterols, flavonoids, tannins, coumarin, linalyl acetate and linalool, which contribute to its rejuvenating and astringent properties.

Lavender oil soothes irritated skin, has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, regenerates skin and speeds up wound healing. It moisturises dry and dehydrated skin, helping it retain moisture and restore its protective barrier. It has powerful antioxidant properties thanks to flavonoids, which protect against free radicals. The antibacterial properties of linalool and linalyl acetate help regulate sebum production and reduce inflammation. In cosmetics, it is used at concentrations of 0,5-2% in creams, toners and shampoos for all skin types.

Recommended for dry, sensitive, oily, acne-prone, dehydrated and mature skin. It soothes sensitive and eczema-prone skin, reducing redness and irritation. For oily and acne-prone skin, it regulates sebum and fights bacteria. For mature skin, it slows ageing and supports elasticity. It is also suitable for skin affected by psoriasis, dermatitis or burns, where it speeds up regeneration.

A study demonstrated that lavender oil from Lavandula angustifolia and linalyl acetate have a strong inhibitory effect on inflammation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis (Journal of Ethnopharmacology, research data cited in analyses). Further research showed that application at a concentration of 1-3% reduces inflammatory markers by 40% in patients with eczema after 4 weeks (Phytotherapy Research, 2018).

It helps relax stiff muscles after sport or physical exertion. Lavender drives away “impure thoughts” and strengthens the ego. A hint of lavender can lift your mood, as the sense of smell can significantly influence brain function. It eases nervous tension and is excellent for insomnia and headaches.

Curly mint essential oil Mentha Spicata Oil

Spearmint essential oil comes from the plant Mentha spicata. It has a gentle minty scent with a sweet, herbal note. The oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering aerial parts. Spearmint essential oil strengthens the respiratory system, is suitable for treating inflammation and also reduces fever. This natural organic extract is obtained from the flowering aerial parts of curly spearmint, which grows in the temperate climates of Europe and Asia. The steam distillation process preserves its purity and strong aroma without the use of synthetic additives. In cosmetics, it is valued for its freshness and traditional use in herbal preparations.

Spearmint essential oil has a gently cooling and soothing effect on the skin. It is therefore suitable for burns and sunburn. It also relieves redness and itching associated with various skin inflammations and infections. It revitalises and refreshes the skin while lifting the mood. Its action is based on the cooling effect of menthol, which activates cold receptors in the skin, soothes irritation and has an anti-inflammatory effect. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that reduce the risk of infection. At a concentration of 0,5-2 % in cosmetic products, it refreshes the skin, gently exfoliates and supports circulation without drying it out. It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting against free radicals.

We recommend it for oily, acne-prone, sensitive and dehydrated skin, where it reduces inflammation and regulates sebum production. It is also suitable for refreshing mature skin and for soothing irritation in athletes. Do not apply undiluted to children's sensitive skin or during pregnancy. Ideal for use in toners, gels and masks at low concentrations.

A study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2018) showed that Mentha spicata essential oil at a concentration of 1 % reduced inflammatory markers in mice by 45 % after 24 hours of application, confirming its anti-inflammatory and soothing effects on irritated skin. Further research in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2020) reports that menthol from mint oil at a concentration of 2 % inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by 68 %, supporting its antiseptic properties for acne.

Dermofeel® PA Phytic Acid (and) Aqua

dermofeel® PA is a natural chelating agent derived from plant sources such as cereals and pulses, where it occurs naturally as phytic acid. It is an organic extract that serves as an environmentally friendly and biodegradable alternative to synthetic chelators such as EDTA. This viscous, yellowish solution stabilises cosmetic formulations by binding metal ions from water or raw materials. It works synergistically with antioxidants such as vitamins or plant extracts, prolonging their effectiveness and preventing premature oxidation. It is used in a wide range of products, including emulsions, gels and cleansers, where it maintains long-term clarity, colour and sensory properties.

Its mechanism of action involves chelating metal ions such as iron, copper, calcium and magnesium, which catalyse oxidation reactions and destabilise formulations. It binds these ions into stable complexes, enhancing antioxidant protection, supporting the preservative system by weakening microorganisms, and improving foaming in cleansing products. In emulsions, it restores stability by neutralising the effects of hard water. The recommended concentration is 0,1 % for stabilising formulations and 0,2-0,3 % for improving foam in cleansers. It synergistically enhances the effects of antioxidants such as tocopherol.

Suitable for all skin types, especially dry, sensitive and dehydrated skin, where it supports elasticity and provides hydration. It is recommended for oily and acne-prone skin thanks to its pore-normalising and brightening effects. It is ideal for mature skin thanks to its antioxidant protection. Also suitable for haircare products used in hard water. Versatile enough for delicate formulations containing plant extracts.

A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science (2018) showed that phytic acid at a concentration of 0,2 % reduced the oxidative degradation of vitamin C in an emulsion by 45 % after 12 weeks of storage at 40 °C. Further research in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2021) confirmed that phytic acid at a concentration of 0,1 % chelated 98 % of copper and iron ions in a model cosmetic formulation, extending stability by 30 %.

Baking soda Sodium Bicarbonate

Bicarbonate of soda was known as far back as ancient Egypt, around 3500 BC, where it was used in the form of natron, a natural mixture of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, mainly for mummifying the dead. Over time, its beneficial effects on the stomach, as well as on the body and health in general, became recognised. It is mainly manufactured from natural materials using the Solvay process, although it also occurs naturally and is produced by the body during breathing and digestion. Bicarbonate of soda has excellent skin-cleansing properties. It reduces inflammation and removes dead skin cells. It is great for tackling blackheads, as it can thoroughly cleanse pores. Above all, bicarbonate of soda is excellent at removing oil, sweat and dead skin. It is an entirely natural substance with no synthetic additives, gentle on both people and the environment.

It is known that, when bathing or showering, our bodies absorb a small but significant amount of water through the pores. Water combined with bicarbonate of soda, which is alkaline, can effectively help counter excess acidity in the body from the outside. Thanks to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, bicarbonate of soda removes underarm body odour as well as odours associated with fungal infections. Its chemical composition allows it to react with odour molecules and neutralise them on contact, tackling not only odour but also moisture.

It acts as a mild abrasive that mechanically exfoliates dead skin cells, clears clogged pores and removes excess sebum. Its alkaline nature helps regulate the skin's pH, neutralise acids and reduce inflammation. For gentle cleansing without irritation, a concentration of around 10-20 % is recommended in exfoliating pastes mixed with water or oil. It absorbs impurities and sweat, helping to restore the skin's balance. A study in the Journal of Clinical Dentistry showed that toothpaste containing 40-65 % bicarbonate of soda removed significantly more plaque and surface stains than toothpaste without it after 4 weeks of use. Further research confirmed that bicarbonate of soda at a concentration of 5 % in exfoliating formulations reduces the number of blackheads by 25 % in 2 weeks.

It is particularly recommended for oily, acne-prone skin with blackheads and clogged pores, where it effectively controls sebum and cleanses the skin. It is also suitable for regular exfoliation of normal skin, but those with dry or sensitive skin should avoid it, as frequent use can disrupt the skin barrier and cause irritation or dryness. For mature skin, it is useful at low concentrations for gentle smoothing, but should always be combined with hydrating ingredients. Do not use daily; ideally, use in scrubs 1-2x a week.

LucyLab packaging: maximum functionality comes first

When we were looking for new packaging for LucyLab cosmetics, we didn’t start with its colour or shape. We started with functionality. We wanted packaging that would be an active part of the product – protecting our formula, helping to preserve the quality of sensitive active ingredients and making everyday use more pleasant. That’s why we chose the premium AirFree® Vega Ecosolution airless packaging by Amcor.

The airless system protects cosmetics from air

Air and oxygen are among the factors that can affect the stability of cosmetic formulas and sensitive active ingredients. Airless packaging is one of the most effective ways to significantly limit their contact with air during use. AirFree® Vega Ecosolution uses an oxygen barrier, keeping the contents safely protected inside the packaging, even with everyday dispensing.

Better packaging means gentler protection for the formula

Our philosophy is not to add more ingredients to cosmetics than they really need. High-quality airless packaging helps protect the formula through its design alone. The manufacturer, Amcor, states that the AirFree® Vega Ecosolution oxygen barrier reduces the need for many preservatives while also protecting active ingredients. This doesn’t mean cosmetics without any preservatives – it means a smarter approach, where the packaging works together with the formula and allows us to choose gentle, carefully considered preservation systems.

Gentle, precise dispensing without touching the contents

The airless pump allows for gentle, clean and controlled dispensing without having to scoop out the product with your fingers. The system works in any position within a 360° range, making it convenient to use right down to the last doses. AirFree® Vega Ecosolution is also approved to ECOCERT and COSMOS standards and is available in an option made with recycled PCR plastic.

LucyLab – considered down to the last detail

We believe that modern cosmetics are not only about what’s inside the packaging, but also how the contents are protected. That’s why AirFree® Vega Ecosolution is a natural extension of the LucyLab philosophy: effective formulas, maximum functionality, a gentle approach and technologies that make a real difference.

Tiež pokožku hydratuje a zvláčňuje.

Dakujem.

Natalia

Dobrý deň Natália, nemyslím si, že by bolo potrebné pleť pred použitím dezinfikovať. Šťava z aloe vera pôsobí dezinfekčne a protizápalovo. Samotné aloe vera je zdrojom širokého spectra vitálne dôležitých elementov, akými sú napr. aj enzýmy, lektíny, saponíny – účinné látky proti vírusom, baktrériám, plesniam a infekciám. Balzam má jemne sťahujúci efekt, zacelí drobné rany a tým zabráni zápalu. Pokožku hydratuje aj zvláčňuje. Ďakujeme za otázočku, želám krásny večer, Lucia :-)
